That and their missiles work as one of the few direct counters to the 2++ re rollable units

Yep, assault cannon, melta, hurricane bolters and psyammo. Very competitive and always done well for me.

I love using mine, only problem is the price you pay for them.

Standard loadout being: Assualt Cannon, MM, hurricane bolters and psybolt ammo.

I make bad decisions and think they are good.

Yeah, Storm Raven Crusader is the best build.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

It's also a very expensive unit to play in an already low body count army.

With the amount of AA(tau) the points cost makes it less competitive. It's expensive at 250 for the GK hurricane bolters version for something that can be killed the second it comes on the board. It's a very good unit when you get the right matchup but is not as durable as you'd think IMO.

Like most flyers, it will see more action if you run 2 or more. Problem is, that's almost 2 landraiders/deadknights or 4-5 strike squads.

The Stormraven has a terrible HP/cost ratio. It also pays for many useless features which causes this terrible HP/cost ratio. Also, compared to a helldrake, their firepower is cut by 1/3 by hiding your troops behind a tree. Furthermore, the Stormraven does not truly counter any of the power builds of the big three army lists right now.

If your opponent cares about it, the Stormraven is not durable at all. I've knocked down plenty of these things with the lowly BA.

That's patently untrue.

Stormraven are extremely deadly against Screamerstars, Jetseer Councils and Farsight/Sevrin Loth bombs.

Hardly, they still provide the strongest anti-flier in the game with 12/12/12.

Anti flier doesn't help vs most power lists, only the case of FMC circus. The stormraven is overcosted and I don't much like it. The Vendetta is much , much better.

Right because comparing a raven to the most undercosted flyer in the game makes for a good comparison. And this thread is about gk raven not blood angels or vanilla.

Ok its expensive but what do you get for that av12 all round on a flyer. Twin linked melta. Twin linked s7 assault cannon and then s5 twin linked again storm bolters that at rapid fire will quite happily chew through most things. Then you have the missile which are quite amazing in the current meta with .

So my opponent has aa. I played a tau list with 2 sky firing interceptor rip tides and through using psychic communion and careful position was only taking a glancing result. Yes it died 2 turns Ater but it more than made up its points by shooting and unloading an death cult squad right into the tau gun line.

Interestinly I have heard the the digi dex for GK's changes the wording of the mindstrike missile which if true nerfs it a LOT.

What else is there to compare it to? Always compare to the best, because good players will be using the best. I feel that the GK Raven is still quite overcosted compared to the other fliers that actually see use. Comparing it to fliers that no one uses is worthless.

Gk don't have a recent digi dex unless you mean inquisition? which is a separate army to gk anyway

Right but comparing it to flyers which serve completely different roles is worthless anyway. Even more so in a few month when the new guard dex drops and vendettas are probably hit with the nerf bat. Raven has better armour, better selection of guns, assault capacity, potms and immune to melta. and with the context of gk, mindstrike missiles and psychic pilot.

Might have been a recent update on the GK digital dex. Anyone with it can confirm?

You fly 2 Grey Knight Storm Ravens on the table and most daemon build will crumple and die at the sight. 2 mind strike hits on a screamerstar bam dead herald. Running against a flying circus and the hurricane Bolter/ assault cannon versions will kill daemon princes with ease.

If they changed the wording of the missile in the digital dex, it'd be in the FAQ as well.

That's Funny, You're funny man.

Maybe i see the SRC more survivable because I play Sons of Medusa(IH successor; and have been playing them since before the new codex TYVM); so mine gets IWND.

So has the psi missiles changed at all or is it still perils on a hit with it?

There has been no update to the FAQ, so the only "evidence" that something changed we have is someone going "hey, didn't the digital dex change something?" which is about as reliable a source without citation as a 5 year old saying that Einstein was wrong in all his theories. Or anything other misremembered fact. Stop making a mountain of a molehill, as the saying goes.

In short, no, it did not change.

Considering that the Storm Raven is not in the Inquisition book...

No the mindstrike Missiles still cause perils as it always has.

The Inquisition book does have some changes, but not to the mindstrike missile.

See,if I was saying it has changed then yea you could say that, I am asking if someone with the GK digital editions codex can confirm that it has. Saying there is nothing in the FAQ therefore it cannot possibly be different in the digi dex is plain wrong.

I have asked that person that stated it to grab a screen shot.

So in short,YOU have no idea if it is different or not, and I am asking confirmation.

Kel, I plainly did not mention the Inq dex which I have.
