What will you do?
Not really care I'll carry on much as normal
Just abuse the ridiculously powerful units/combos more
Pretty much give up on 40k because it's gotten too stupid
Probably adapt a bit
Rant on various Internet forums but carry on regardless
Make a list for every possible combination in case
Abuse something silly for no good reason
Create something fluffy I couldn't before

Obviously the rules aren't out yet so it's speculation, but if it's true I think I'll just quit 40k.

Personally I don't have a group of friends that do it and can't enjoy the mindlessness of it if it goes full tilt silly (just my opinion)
I think I'll waste my money on something else.

What are your opinions?
Looking forward to it?

Depends on the non-Unbound rules. (Unbound seems like a loser right out of the box, but the Psyker Phase rumors are interesting). If they are an improvement, we'll adopt them and likely ignore Unbound. If they are not an improvement, I guess we'll stick with 6th.

7th overall sounds...dangerous. Holding my breath until 7th gets released and I got full access to the rules, but if this turns out to be as bad as it seems, I'll just sell all my models and stick to ref-ing alone. After Matt Ward took a dump on the Necron fluff and GW moving further into a bottomless pit of not caring for anything, I'm more prone to do it than ever.

Flames of War will get more attention then.

Unbound is a joke and nobody takes it seriously. It's not a game, it's just "throw everything on the table and roll some dice". If you like this and always wanted to do this - why the heck didn't you before?

Psychic Phase might be another huge slap in the face for armies with no access to Psykers and if it turns out to be anything like WHFB 7th magic, the game is completely ruined.

GW needs to go and the licenses need to be taken over by someone who knows what they're doing. GW, however, needs to go.

Nothing? Stop using allied shenanigans, maybe? I don't have enough stuff to change my list much, so I don't really care.

On moon miranda.

I'll probably give up on pickup games and events and just try to keep it to pre-arranged games with specific players.

I've not read much into it but it just sounds like Small Scale Apoc games. In that case you just play "bound" games and chances are most people will play bound games; barring clubs where you might have more kids or younger members who've got more bits of collections here and there.

Otherwise its just formalising what players have done for decades before without rules for it - just mashing things together and having a laugh.

Ps I'm pretty sure this poll is bias because from what I can tell there's a core on Dakka who gave up on 40K years ago but still keep flocking to it like moths to a flame

Planetstrike. I'll play it.

Captain Killhammer McFighterson stared down at the surface of Earth from his high vantage point on the bridge of Starship Facemelter. Something ominous was looming on the surface. He could see a great shadow looming just underneath the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, slowly spreading northward. "That can't be good..." he muttered to himself while rubbing the super manly stubble on his chin with one hand. "But... on the other hand..." he looked at his shiny new bionic murder-arm. "This could be the perfect chance for that promotion." A perfect roundhouse kick slammed the ship's throttle into full gear. Soon orange jets of superheated plasma were visible from the space-windshield as Facemelter reentered the atmosphere at breakneck speed.

Unbound in itself is irrelevant.

If 7th turns into a massive arms race, I'm out.

If my local area's meta resolves into something reasonable, I'll keep playing 40k.

GW are just providing more rules.

It's up to the players to decide how they play and what rules they play with.

If local groups are playing stupid abusive lists then blame the group, not GW.

Apologies for talking positively about games I enjoy.

Yeah, I think the problem is not what local groups are doing, but what happens when you walk into a FLGS hoping to find a pickup game.

Work it out with the person what you want to play instead of plopping figures on the table and go "Have at you"?

FLGS and GW stores will be identical - you agree with your opponent before the match. And heck most will play single armies most of the time.

Sell what I have left.

My only option left for gaming after moving was to go to the local nerd store once a week and play random people. If I can't do that and have fun because they have 12 riptides and 6 imperial knights, what else am I gonna do with it?

I sure as hell ain't gonna go out and spend $1000 on plastic because GW either can't be troubled to come up with fair rules and/or thinks I'm dumb enough to spend that much in the first place.

40k players are already quite rare at my FLGS...so this will likely just introduce yet another point of failure for me getting a pickup game at my flgs.

After deployment but just before attempting to seize the initiative...

Roll off.

If the result is odd, you must immediately switch armies with your opponent.

Then take the seize the initiative roll...

Play the rest of the game as laid out in the BRB.

Honestly if someone has the money, time and transporting capabilites to bring 6 knights you play them along with two or three others and have a great fun time just because its that mad a battle.

Rest of the time that guy can crack out his normal regular codex army. Unbound is just going to be an optional component not a required element. And really its just scaling down Apoc which is already a proven fun format (That didn't result in every 40K gaming club suddenly only playing apoc games).

I agree with overread the poll might be a little biased, likely because I've grown increasingly disenchanted with 40k in the recent past.
I still want to love it really I do but it's just not really encapsulating what my perception of the game should be. Obviously it is just my opinion.
Aside from just moaning online about it I'm actively trying to re-write the game rules in an attempt to create better balance.
I will post the result up when it's nearer completion for people to pick apart and suggest improvements.
Until that point I'm gonna unashamedly nerd-rage quit the game.

Sometimes its best just to put the army into storage/display cases and then just move onto another game or hobby. It's not always that the game has problems; but more so often that the person has just grown bored. Interestingly 40K fans appear to be far more loyal and willing to really push and force themselves to play than in many other hobbies. They really love it so much that they are willing to torment themselves playing and trying to get back into it.

Far more healthy to just put it to one side and do something else; chances are a month - a half year - a year or two - or maybe longer and you'll be refreshed and will look on 40K with much more favourable light.

Interestingly I also find that getting out and playing in the local club is also a healthy cure; many on forums oft complain and use it to vent frustrations; which when isolated and focused one online can appear to be far far bigger than they are in the real world. Plus because more are willing to complain it reinforces itself. That can fast make you think far more is wrong with the game and focus upon those imperfections (real or perceived).

I guess that I will adapt slightly, changing my lists as needed.
And I simply won't play against those who will take advantage of this and star all the **ckery in the world.

I guess we'll still be playing with my friends. Maybe making some own house rules or just small tournaments with FOC.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
