Okay... let's talk hand-egg ball!
St. Louis RAMS has the #2 and #13 picks this year.
I'm hoping to trade out of the #2 for more picks (ie, #3-#9 + additional pick).
I'm liking them to get Jake Matthews, OT from TA&M.
The 13th pick I'm hoping to be Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama.
I'm seeing great memes leading up to the draft... this is my favorite so far!

I have a feeling the rams won't get anything significant in a trade up scenario. But I could be wrong. I have a feeling we won't see any moves till 5-10.
I wish there was any chance whatsoever of the patriots getting Khalil Mack. He's my favorite defender in the draft. Where the patriots are picking I'm hoping for one of Ryan shazier, Demarcus Lawrence, Deone Bucannon, or stephen Tuitt.
I will probably watch the top ten then go to bed. 5am comes super early especially when the patriots aren't picking till 11:30ish.

There's a lot of buzz that Detroit is going to try and move up to take Watkins. That would be nuts.
I got to see Mack play twice in person. The dude is a monster.

Personally I would prefer to see the Bears take Ha-Ha Dix over Calvin Pryor but if the Rams nab him at #13 Pryor's the next best thing, not particularly high on any of the top DT prospects this year, but Emery knows what he's doing when drafting so there's always hope
Thing is the Rams either way are laughing their way to the bank after Dan Snyder beat himself up and gave them his lunch money
Another thing I've heard is the possibility of the Bears trading back with San Fran for potentially an additional 3rd
Personally I think Manziel has too high of a bust factor as does Clowney, the QB steals this year will be in my opinion Aaron Murray (Georgia) and AJ McCarron (Alabama), it'll be intersting to see see where Tajh Boyd (Clemson), Logan Thomas (VT) will go and if Devin Gardner (Michgan) will be drafted as a QB or another skill position. Detroit really need secondary help, Watkins would be good but their D really needs fixed up

@cincy I'm kind of jealous about seeing Mack. I'd love to have gotten to see him in college because I feel like he's gonna be something really special. Same feeling I had about Mo Wilkerson and JJ Watt.

Completely agree about Murray and McCarron. I'm really hoping the Bengals can grab one of them in the 3rd (or maybe even the 2nd).
Mack, against my cousins hapless Miami Redhawks team, had 8 tackles and 3 sacks in 3 quarters.....
Against my Buckeyes he outran Braxton Miller to score a pick 6. Dude is nuts.
Oh yeah, he outta Dontre Wilson on that play too. Wilson runs a 4.4.

Egad!!!!!!!! Can you imagine trying to defend both Calvin Johnson AND Watkins????
Detroit would have to give up what Washington did to get RG3.

I like McCarron, he could probably do REALLY well with an organization like the cardinals who have some real nice pieces in place. I don't know a ton about Murray though.
And with McCarron going to the cardinals we'd have the hilarity of having to deal with the Darnell Dockett controversy.

There's many in the industry that believes if the Texans can't trade down, they'll pick Mack over Clowny.
And THAT makes the Rams second pick that much more valuable.

He's a bit undersized for a DT and although quite athletic isn't a great force against the run (Which Chicago really needs from the 3 tech they draft)
It also irritated me to see Bucky Brooks in a mock draft have him go to Chicago as he fits "Their tampa-2 defence"
Y'Know the defence they haven't used for the past two seasons......

Oh... I agree Mack > Clowny.
Clowney seems like he has the better pure athletic ability but he really either shows up or doesn't, and he runs his mouth far too much for me, ie He's already trash talking Andrew Luck
Mack on the other hand seems a lot more professional in his work ethic and not too far behind athletically and just a great hard-working player
Manziel is also like Clowney: good athleticism but far too rough mechanically. He also really benefited from having Mike Evans for him to just put the ball upto get
And you wouldn't have to defend both Watkins and Johnson, you just wait till Stafford side arms it to the nearest LB

How about some round 2/end of 1 type guys?
What's your thoughts on Dominic Easley? He's a guy that's been mocked to the patriots a bit. He's dynamic but double ACL's scares me.
And ra'shede Hageman is pretty intriguing. He's a destroyer when he's on but there are serious concerns about his motivation.
I find myself only interested in defensive players and TE's with this draft ;p

id be fine with mack, would much rather have him over clowney. Not sure its possible but I wouldnt mind seeing the texans trade down to number 6 and still get mack, but I cant imagine mack making it past the raiders, but that means the texans have to draft a QB in round 2 and I'd guess McCarron to be the guy left. In a perfect world we grab mack in the first round and Teddy Bridgewater turns into this years hot QB that doesnt go in round 1 and is around for the texans 2nd pick Automatically Appended Next Post: Chancetragedy wrote:How about some round 2/end of 1 type guys?

Id like to see the Pats draft Jace Amaro from Texas Tech, that offense needs atleast one TE and you dont know what you'll get from Gronk Automatically Appended Next Post: I also like the idea of Johnny football to the Jags, then the Jags move to LA next year

Jonny football absolutely does not have a better arm Han Russell Wilson.
Less than 5 hours to go. Per an Adam Shefter tweet, the texans will no longer be trying to or trading the 1st overall pick. Looks like they will probably be taking Mack or clowney. Either way I feel bad for the QB's in the AFC south ;p

id still much rather take Mack, I think the clown has a higher up side, but I'd rather not risk a number one over all pick / 1st pick money on a guy who has effort problems. I'm sure playing a long side JJ would teach him what it means to go 100% for 4 quarters but I'm still not interested in the risk
I'm also looking at the texans to move there 2nd round pick up into the mid - late first round to draft bridgewater. A Bridgewater + Mack first round would be hugely exciting for this Texans fan

Ability at college doesn't always translate across. Wilson was also a really humble guy with non of the off field issues
Manziel also had a wide receiver who was 6'5'' and in college DBs aren't as tight on their coverage especially when you're playing against colleges such as UTEP, Southern Methodist and Sam Houston State. When A&M lost to Auburn Evans had 11 of 28 of Manziels completions and over half the yardage (287 out of 454) and all 4 Passing TDs
A comparison through out the season had when:
Manziel was targeting Evan. 79.6% completions, 19.8 Yards/attempt, 9 TDs
Manziel & all other receivers 71.4% completions, 7.8 Yards/attempt, 9 TDs
Source
Quite simply he relies too much on one receiver which he won't get away with at the next level
He'll also either have to spend the next 3 months bulking up or learning not to run around as much because some lineman or linebacker will just destroy him, and RG3 proved you don't even need to get hit to get taken out a game Automatically Appended Next Post: ironicsilence wrote:Chancetragedy wrote:Jonny football absolutely does not have a better arm Han Russell Wilson.

I think Johnny football has the arm for the NFL game, I just question his ability to read and adapt to NFL defense. He seems to play his best football in a spurrier "fun n gun" style offense and I question how well that will translate in the NFL. I think there are a lot of teams that have the players to make that style work, I dont however think any of the teams in the top 5-10 picks have it, so I think Johnny is going to struggle. Basically its not so much that I doubt his ability but I doubt his ability to make it work with the players hes going to be surrounded with
bridgewater to the browns at 26 is interesting, most of the mocks I've seen today have the browns taking Johnny at 4 Automatically Appended Next Post: just read a story from glazer saying the browns have no interest in Johnny at number 4

Hmm I know I'm arguing semantics here but mayock says better thrower which IMO is a bit different. Wilson is a guy who was also drafted by the Texas rangers. It's pretty clear his arm is live. But touché in general.

You know that 7.8 YPA is a very solid number though, right? That would have been 8th in the NFL last season. Which is not to say that it translates to the NFL -- I'm just pointing out that number is very solid overall for a QB. And it's not unusual for your deep-threat WR to have a much larger YPC or YPA when targeted. I don't think those numbers make a case against Manziel at all. There may be other issues, but 71% completions and 7.8 YPA ain't among them.
Personally, I'm not sure about Mike Evans at the next level. I'm still not convinced he runs well enough. He reminds me of Mike Williams when he came out of USC.
