this is a battle between an impirium crusade and the GE at the time of RETURN OF THE JEDI assuming they completed the death star 2
well, hope you enjoy...
Chapter 1

Inquisitor Archius Ryke stared out at the shifting clouds of gases in front of his view screen. The nebulae was quite entrancing, a vivid mix of greens and reds that shone with occasional bright, blue white light of new stars, only born a few hundred years past.
Ryke sat at the helm of the overlord class Battlecruiser ‘eye of vengeance’ that he had claimed as his own, much to the chagrin of the ship’s previous captain. He smiled at the memory, that same captain now sat behind him in the captain’s throne, now his firm friend. He then looked out to his side through the port side windows at the rest of the fleet. He grinned, the sheer size of the fleet stirred his heart with the glory of the emperor’s mighty fleet. Ahead of him a gigantic flotilla of frigates and escorts screened the cruisers and Battlecruisers behind them. And at the centre of the fleet, 20 enormous battleships dominated the vista, each measuring in at between 6 and 8 kilometers each.
Turning his attention back to the nebula he studied the anomaly intently. It was an ugly blue purple scar hundreds of kilometres in diameter, in local folklore it was called ‘the scar’ and was rumoured to be a gateway to another universe. A rumor confirmed when the burning hulk of a starship emerged from it. When techpriests boarded the wreckeage its machine spirit and surviving crew told of an entire other galaxy, ruled by another empire. Ryke hearing of this had petitioned the high lords of terra to launch a crusade through the scar to this other galaxy. A year later here he stood at the helm of his ship at the back end of the segmentun tempestus at the head of the largest crusade fleet in a decade, elements of a half dozen space marine chapters and hundreds of guard regiments. All escorted by the fleet, 500 warships of assorted sizes all formed up for battle.
The astropath tilted his head slightly, before turning to the captain.
“We are ordered to advance into the scar my lord”
the captain nodded and relayed the orders to his crew over the vox net.
Despite himself Ryke couldn’t suppress a grin as the cruiser lurched into motion with the rest of the fleet, speeding toward the scar and the ripe new galaxy beyond...

Arthur velus stared morosely at the docks beyond the prow of his ship, ‘vengeance’ an imperial star destroyer stationed along with it’s 4 sister ships outside the border station orbiting the verdant world of garrilus 5. The posting was dull at best and mind numbingly, unbearably boring at worst, simulauted combat between the ships could only go so far to relieve the boredom of staring into space for hours on end.
The communication crew at the rear the bridge suddenly went into a frenzy of activity. With nothing better to do he walked over and nodded to the chief officer.
“what’s going on?” he asked hoping for something to relieve the boredom.
“It’s the 78th battle group”he replied listening intently to the radio.”they are asking us to arm our weapons and form up on their vector. Suddenly he paled, they’re being pursued and and require re-enforcement.
Velus nodded to his officer. “relay the orders“ he said, desperately attempting to bury his excitement, finally something to break the boredom. Then the rest of the message sank in, an entire battlegroup was being pursued, a full 15 star destroyers and compliment of fighters.
He turned and walked to the front of the bridge as alarms blared and the garrison of garrilus 5 swung about to face the vector indicated over the comms.
Battle group 78 was in poor shape, as they emerged from hyperspace the damage on their hulls was evident, large chunks were simply missing from some of their hulls. The ships sped towards the garrison fleet and swung about to form up with them tubolasers swivelling to face forward as 5 tears opened up in space 1000 kilometers in front of them.

Can I suggst a few amendments to help reading ?

the Retribution class battleship imperator emerged from the warp a short distance away from the retreating Galatic Empire ships as they wearily drew up a battle line a slightly larger ship drawing up in the centre of the formation. In quick succession, four ships emerged from the warp alongside the Imperator, Lunar class cruisers which smoothly arranged themselves in pairs on either side. The commander of the battleship looked over the bedraggled ships in front of him and grinned. four to one odds, he could deal with those.

The small Imperial contingent accelerated forwards, straight into a hail of lasers fired by the dagger shaped ships in front of them, shrugging off the long ranged fire with their immense armoured prows. a glow began to coalesce beneath the prow of the imperator building in intensity until it was at a near blinding level. Across from the mighty battleship, the star destroyer at the head of its fleet, having seen what was about to happen attempted to veer to the side, but it was too late. A vast streak of flame was vomited from the mighty nova cannon beneath the prow of the Imperator, speeding across the gulf with such speed it was almost impossible to spot. before it crashed into the lead ship.

The weak armour at the prow of the star destroyer was no match for the sheer power of the shell which crunched through into the belly of the ship before detonating. the entire star destroyer was obliterated in an instant, a ball of blue-green flame replacing the hull of the vessel. the few parts not vaporised became a colud of vicious shrapnel which soared across the gulf towards the other sips, pattering across the deflector shields like tiny fireworks before cooling and becoming invisible against the jet-black backdrop.

The remaining star destroyers increased their speed closing to effective range of the turbo-lasers on their flanks which continued to blast away at the approaching warships. at a command from the admiral the Imperial ships launched a volley of torpedoes before swinging about to proffer their broadside weaponry to the oncoming ships. In response the star destroyers broke formation rising above or dodging between the torpedoes with surprising agility for a starship of their size, yet even so one ship was unlucky enough to be hit with a glancing blow from a torpedo launched by one of the cruisers which detonated, turning an entire tubolaser battery into shrapnel and overloading the shields. Undaunted, the destroyers continued their advance their main weapons now within range and they launched a rain of green laser blasts against the battleship, actually collapsing one of its void shields.

The battleship however responded in kind firing a sheet of flame into the formation, shells detonating spectacularly against the shields of its opponent and shattering the one ship previously damaged into two pieces as a trio of shells found their mark. The Empire star destroyers spat another volley collapsing a second shield with the combined firepower. Hooked into the ship's machine spirit the captain let slip a savage grin as the ship's lance batteries swivelled into position and let loose a fusillade of shots, the beams tearing great rents in the hulls of his opponents, on unlucky ship even being split in half from nose to engines by an especially well place beam, each half of the ship drifting slowly away. then the cruisers opened fire, their weapons batteries fully disintegrating another two destroyers while the lances sawed the bridge from another. the last destroyers began to turn towards the cruisers in the lull between the devastating volleys attempting to escape the zone of fire of the battleship, but to no avail. the final, devastating broadside tore the last ships apart in a hail of gigantic shells, lance beams and plasma blasts. the 78th battle-group reduced to shrapnel in a matter of minutes.

The lord admiral grinned in satsifaction, another enemy vanquished and ordered his ships to turn about and head back to the main battle one system over. It was foolish he mused, to only retreat one system. the hyperdrives used by these ships could easily have lost him during a long chase but instead they had nullified their own main advantage and then massing for a vainglorious charge against the strongest side of him battleships. He shook his head as the ship entered warpspace. these commanders he was facing were too used to easy victory. if they didn't find some admirals with some spine, this crusade would almost feel too easy...

i must say i approve of what you've done first off
another star destroyer has been captured by inquisitor ryke and i have a scene planned for him and a sith who is secretly aboard the vessel
the GE will find out about the invaders and some other space battles and ground based invasions are in the works
these first few chapters are just me getting a feel for the fiction, getting into the groove you might say.
in any case im glad you are reading it. it certainly feels better than spouting this stuff into the cold lonely void of cyberspace.
oh and the cruisers just followed the battleship to answer your question.

of course i do >
i have a scene planned for the oh-so-controversial fight between SPEZZ MAREENS and sith (low ranking ones)
i'm planning on power swords deflecting lightsabres (and vica verca) and bolt sehells detonating in the lightsabre's beam.
all in all should be good

hopefully.

any particular chapters i should include (beyond raven guard they're definately in) whether one of the more mainstream ones or a custom creation?

Well Black Templars are always up for a good Crusade

Having some competant and effective Adepta Sororitas would be a very good thing IMO and they work well with the BT. I can;t see the Church not being involved?

Power swords vs Light sabers sounds good and about right.

Do Astropathic messages still work?

I wonder if Chaos also sees the opportunity for a foothold in a new universe.......

chapter 2

Inquisitor Archius Ryke pulled on a pair of gauntlets, the shiny segmented plasteel reflecting the harsh lights overhead. he put his arms through the sleeves of his greatcoat, the jet-black garment reminiscent of those used by commissars. finally he fitted his hat, a wide-brimmed affair with the inquisitorial rosette featured proudly on the front. he regarded himself in the polished steel mirror. He cut a grand figure, his coat and hat hiding the body Armour he wore beneath perfectly. his custom-made power sword hung at his belt, the silvery basket hilt studded with small powered nodules that could be used to punch an opponent in a pinch, his assorted arsenal of pistols hung at his belt and within his coat. a hellpistol a bolt pistol a melta pistol, even an eldar shuriken pistol he had 'liberated' from an eldar pirate lord. he smiled fondly at the memory, one never could have enough sidearms after all. finally he placed two fingers to the steel plate at his temple. focusing his psychic power for a moment and feeling strength flood his limbs. He was ready to go make history he thought brightly.

the command center was a hive of activity. naval officers and tech-priests hurried between Pict-displays and coordinated the cordon forming around the world of ferrax sitting below them. it had been the first victim of the new crusade, the world seemed to be a staging area for the navy of this 'galactic empire' he had heard so much about from the captive navy officers he had been interrogating. they hadn't said much he thought darkly, only laughed at him and promised that he would 'fall like all the others had before' a statement he seriously doubted having seen the capabilities of this empire's military. he walked over to the far side of the room where a collection of the most important men in the crusade were gathering. he had hand picked them from the available military forces for their devotion and experience. marshal krastev of the black Templars conferred with shadow captain lucian of the raven guard, while off to one side lord general Castor of the Phoenician regiments conferred with his counterparts from the other guard forces present. admiral Gustov simply stared out at the cordon forming around the planet, flanked by his bodyguards.
Ryke cleared his throat, drawing the attention of the assembled commanders.
"thank you for attending on such short notice" the commanders nodded to him respectfully. "I have read the preliminary reports and wish to commend you on your exemplary performance thus far, especially you admiral". Gustov inclined his head in thanks but otherwise kept a respectful silence.
"i called this meeting for a number of reasons, firstly i need to know how the crusade is going as a whole, Gustov if you could begin"
gustov stepped forwards and beckoned a pair of officials forward as well before straightening up and beginning his report.
"the fleet has suffered minimal losses to the opposing ships we have encountered at this planet. three escort ships damaged with none of those irreparable. the enemy ships seem to use powerful laser based weapons primarily, with occasional use of small torpedoes as well. their Armour is quite frankly pathetic however they utilize advanced shield technology that we have not encountered before, the shields seem to be able to soak up a set amount of damage before having to recharge, they are more effective against solid projectile weapons than our own void shields but lances can overload them quickly, and nova cannons, unsurprisingly ignore them completely. the fleet we encountered here was however, small. captives from some of the less damaged ships have been made to talk of fleets much larger than these, and alluded to something called a 'death star' they seem to be proud of. on matters of navigation i'll hand you over to my chief navigator." he all but pushed forward a nervous looking individual with long robes and a bandage across the third eye in his forehead. Castor smiled encouragingly at him.
"what are the effects of this new galaxy on the astronomicon, navigator?" Krastev asked tersely.
"it is still there my lord, though the scar has some interesting effects on it." he said quietly. Ryke motioned for him to continue "the holy beacon seems to be amplified by the portal, i have not felt its light so strongly in all my years, navigation by its light will not be a problem my lords"
a collective sigh of relief went round the table, being aimless in the dark here would have been unimaginably difficult.
Ryke motioned the marshal and captain to take the stage.
Krastev cast a glance around the table before beginning.
"i have with me about five hundred black templars aboard my ships along with the appropriate equipment and vehicles, my men are ready for battle at any time sir" he swiftly returned to his seat and began tapping at his communicator in his vambrace.
Lucian shot him a loaded glance before beginning his own report.
"i have with me a full company of battle brothers aboard my battle barge, along with equipment appropriate for planetary infiltration missions before a main invasion". he bowed slightly to the assemblage and returned to his seat as well.
Castor glanced around and rose from his seat taking the stage and clasping his hands behind his back and standing crisply to attention.
"me and my fellow commanders can field approximately 125 astra militarum regiments including super heavies and airborne regiments, in addition we were joined about an hour ago by an adeptus mechanicus ship." he paused as raised eyebrows and questioning glances.
"A ship containing a contingent of skitarii, and a titan legion" around the table officers exclaimed loudly and several thanked the emperor for sending them such powerful allies. castor smiled at the reaction and returned to his seat.
Ryke rose from his seat and turned to face the assemblage.
"thank you all for your contributions, it is always good to see an operation running so smoothly" he said, noting some of the officers preening at the praise. "now on to the main reason i brought you here, i have recieved a transmission from the planet's surface, a delegation is being sent on one of their few remaining ships, i am being asked to attend in order to initiate negotiations"
"Ha, pleas for mercy by the sound of it" one of the officers called, much to the amusement of the surrounding subordinates.
Ryke level him a glare that could have stopped a carnifex in its tracks, stopping his laughter instantly. good. he would not be made a mockery of.
"I can volunteer three of my best men to accompany you as an honor guard" Lucian called
"i'll match that" Krastev announced
Ryke nodded to them gratefully, a group of space marines at his back would lend his words more weight during the meeting.
"Thank you for attending sirs, we shall adjourn now, i imagine we all have duties to attend to" he said bowing slightly.
"our men will meet you in the hangar in an hour inquisitor" Lucian said as he walked by.
Ryke nodded and began to walk down to the hangar, he had an important meeting to prepare for.

Well yes you could have a giant ship that can carry a titan legion. However these do not exist.
The Omnissiah's Victory is primarily a warship. It doesn't have the cargo capacity for a titan legion.
A titan legion is usually moved around with a small fleet of carrier ships.

chapter 2 (continued)

the thunderhawk shook slightly as it left the hangar bay, Ryke held on to one of the handholds overhead for balance carefully thinking over the upcoming meeting with what he assumed would be the planetary governor, of course he expected treachery. as an inquisitor he was cooking up his own treachery at the moment. these negotiations weren't really going to get anywhere. but could provide some valuable insight into this galactic empire they had encountered. he glanced out of the cockpit window at the dagger shaped ship cautiously approaching the rendezvous point. he grinned, this was going to be fun.

admiral straston straightened his shirt for the umpteenth time as he nervously awaited the ambassador from the invaders. this could be either the defining moment of his career or the last, he would have to be ready. he glanced out the blue, tinged shield at the fleet that had so throughly decimated his proud fleet. anger creased his brow, these invaders had a lot to answer for. behind him ten figures in black robes stood amongst the stormtroopers at the back of the hangar, these sith acolytes were his insurance policy against treachery. he mopped sweat from his brow and clasped his hands behind his back and straightened as the ambassadorial vehicle entered the hangar. he started with shock, the craft was covered with weaponry, on either side of its snub nosed prow a twinned heavy weapon swivelled slowly, as if staring down each trooper individually. on the stubby wings more weapons were positioned, along with missiles at least 7 feet long. most terrifyingly however an enormous laser cannon jutted from the spine of the ship. he glared at the offending vessel, this wasn't an ambassador's ship but a war vessel plain and simple.
landing gears lowered from the bottom of the vessel and rested on the deck as the craft came to rest.

the Imperial command center was a hive of activity, naval officers and tech-priests hurried between pict-displays and coordinated the cordon forming remorselessly around the world of ferrax sitting below them. It had been the first victim of the new crusade, the world seemed to be a staging area for the navy of this 'galactic empire' he had heard so much about from the captive navy officers he had been interrogating. Admiral Gustov simply stared possessively out at the cordon forming around the planet, flanked by his bodyguards, powerful men but dwarfed by the Space Marines.

Ryke motioned the Marshal and the Captain to take the stage. Krastev cast a glance around the table before beginning.

"i have with me about five hundred brothers aboard my ships along with the appropriate equipment and vehicles, my men are of course ready for battle at any time sir" he swiftly returned to his seat and began tapping at his communicator in his vambrace.

"My fellow officers and I can field approximately 125 astra militarum regiments including super heavies and airborne regiments, in addition we were joined about an hour ago by an Adeptus Mechanicus ship." he paused as raised eyebrows and questioning glances.

"A ship containing a full Titan Legion and their skitarii" around the table officers exclaimed loudly and several thanked the emperor for sending them such powerful allies. castor smiled at the reaction and returned to his seat.

"i'll match that and provide appropriate transportation for an Emmisary of the Emperor" Krastev announced

I find that I often go abck and re do my writting mutipe times - and its always easier to tweek other people's work If you have time have a read of my story and see if you can help it along

see if you like this

The thunderhawk shook slightly as it left the hangar bay, Ryke held on to one of the handholds overhead for balance carefully thinking over the upcoming meeting with what he assumed would be the planetary governor, of course he expected treachery. As an inquisitor he was contemplating several possible reactions and schemes, considering the power plays within his own forces and how they were best controlled and exploited. It was higly unlikely these negotiations were really going to get anywhere. but could provide some valuable insight into this so called "galactic empire" they had encountered. Taking a moment, he glanced out of the cockpit window at the dagger shaped ship cautiously approaching the rendezvous point. he grinned, this was going to be fun.

Admiral Straston straightened his crisp shirt for the umpteenth time as he nervously awaited the ambassador from the invaders, his wife had instructed her servents to make sure he looked his best when meeting the enemy. He was well aware that this could be either the defining moment of his career or the last, he would have to be ready. For the hundredth time he glanced out the blue tinged shield at the fleet that had so throughly decimated his own proud vessels. Anger creased his brow, these invaders had a lot to answer for.

Behind him ten figures in black robes stood amongst the ranks of stormtroopers at the back of the hangar, these sith acolytes were his insurance policy against treachery, althouhg he wondered if they were also there to watch his own actions. He mopped sweat from his brow, clasped his hands behind his back and straightened as the ambassadorial vehicle entered the hangar. He started with shock, the craft was block armoured brick of a ship, covered with weaponry. On either side of its snub nosed prow a twinned heavy weapon swivelled slowly, as if staring down each trooper individually whilst on the stubby wings more oversized weapons were positioned, along with missiles at least 7 feet long. Most terrifyingly however an enormous laser cannon jutted from the spine of the ship. he glared at the offending vessel, this wasn't an ambassador's ship but a war vessel plain and simple.........

Landing gears lowered from the bottom of the vessel and rested on the deck as the craft came to rest. ..... time to face his fate..

The ramp at the front of the squat craft lowered ponderously to the deck, red lights backlighting the figure descending to the deck. staston covered his anger well, the figure walked with an air of supreme confidence. It infuriated him, as a commander used to facing down inferior foes and himself playing the confident oppressor being in the position of the vanquished was not comfortable. Then out of the ramp a second set of figures emerged, first came three warriors armoured in enormous, black and gold armour, their pauldrons displaying a stylised cross. in their hands they carried enormous swords, one carried in two hands was almost six feet long. the other two carried heavy pistols. behind them came another three, these bore enormous backpacks, each with a pair of large engines on the back. on their hands two of them had large ivory gauntlets each with four three foot long blades emerging from the knuckles. the third carried a strange blue ribbed pistol in one hand while the other bore a large gauntlet that crackled and smelled like ozone even from this distance. these second three had a stylised eagle on their pauldron and had odd beaklike helmets.

straston glanced nervously at the sith warriors behind him reassured by the predatory grace they displayed and the lightsabres at their belts. their leader nodded at him. he turned back to the approaching 'diplomat'.
"welcome aboard the vigilance...'
"Inquisitor Archius Ryke." the newcomer introduced himself. the confidence in his voice infuriating the admiral. "commander of this holy crusade on behalf of the god-emperor of mankind" he said, his indigo eyes watching carefully for any reaction. "you summoned me..."
"admiral straston of the 46th fleet of the galactic empire." straston replied, regaining some of his confidence as he recited the familiar mantra to himself. "I called you here to discuss terms-"
"of your surrender? excellent." Ryke cut in, strangely cheerful for such an important occasion. "i think giving us the planet would be a good place to start."
"what thats not acceptable-"
"i know, perhaps the surrounding systems could be thrown in as well, after all we did travel rather a long way."
"WE WILL NOT SURRENDER EVEN A SINGLE PLANET TO YOU, SCUM"
Ryke grinned, his attempts to goad the admiral successful.
"we will discuss terms for your immediate withdrawal from imperial space and the surrender of all the captives you have taken." admiral straston said slowly, cheeks burning in shame from his outburst.
"well on the matter of captives i'm afraid there arent many of those left, i fear we broke most of them, poor weak souls" Ryke said with a mocking light in his eyes. "and in any case i see no reason to accept your terms, the summary obliteration of your planetary fleet should be proof enough of our resolve, and the fate of any foolish enough to stand in our way." he said, his voice laced with the venom, as he exerted his full confidence in an effort to cow the the admiral into simply withdrawing from the planet.
Admiral straston glanced backward at the assembled stormtroopers and sith.
"nothing that can stop you? you have seen only the barest fraction of our might, we are en empire of one hundred thousand worlds, one hundred billion soldiers and the invincible armada of the imperial fleet. you say we cannot stop you, you do not know how wise you would be to accept or offer of a peaceful surrender."
Ryke gazed at him impassively. "you think that impresses me?" he smiled and adjusted his hat. "prehaps you would like to witness the barest fraction of our might?"
He tapped a small red stud on the back of one of his gauntlets. the admiral's eyes widened and he immediatley turned and ran for the stormtroopers as all hell broke loose on the deck.
the heavy bolters on the side of the thunderhawks opened up, letting loose a thunderous clattering as hundreds of huge mass reactive shells were vomited forth into the white armoured soldiers, tearing them to pieces as the shells detonated inside of their armour, spraying loops of blood and viscera high into the air. the space marines formed up around inquisitor Ryke as he calmly drew his sword and marshalled his power. the remaining stormtroopers were cut down in short order by the heavy bolters and lascannons.
suddenly with a rending shriek the bolters and lascannons were ripped from their mounts. Ryke's head snapped around and focussed on the ten black robed figures standing alone at the back of the hangar. he smiled and nodded to them in respect.
the lead figure sneered and activated his lightsabre, the red glow illuminating his inhumanly pale face, complete with small horns jutting from the top of his skull. his followers likewise activated they're weapons and formed a rough arrowhead behind the leader. the space marines, veterans all mirrored the formation activating their power weapons with the crackle of lightning and stink of ozone, ryke cautioned his men. "these are psykers without doubt and those odd red blades look like some sort of xenos power weapon, be careful".
the sith charged, blades held out to one side moving with a predatory grace and unnatural agility. ryke sharted his own charge, his sword held out behind him.
the two sides clashed with a humming crackling sound as light sabre met power sword. one sith was killed by a point blank shot from one of the black templar's bolt pistols, however he was cut down in revenge as a pair of sith drove their sabres through his armour. ryke met his opponents in a blinding exchange of blows. his power sword whipping up from the side and gutting the first opponent before he could even react, before he swayed away from the second, meeting him in a blinding exchange of blows. out of the corner of his eye he saw the rest of the fight unfolding. one of the raven guard rendering his opponent into small chunks of meat with his claws before being launched across the hanger by another sith in revenge, by some kind of psychic blast that stunned the unfortunate marine as he crumpled against the wall. the sith turned and leapt inhumanly high his blade raised for the finish. the raven guards brother intercepted him however, the jump pack screaming as the marine channeled all the momentum of the leap into a lethal kick that pulped the siths chest and throwing him, broken to the floor. ryke continued to battle his opponent, channeling a hundred years of swordplay experiance with his psychic power, warp energy charging his limbs with posthuman speed and reflexes as he analysed his opponents fighting style, the heretical red blade was more maneuverable than his sword but lacked the sheer mass of the adamantine blade, this allowed him to simply batter his opponents blade aside. a tequniqe the black templars had apparently also noticed. the templar with the two hnded power blade knocked one sith away with his arm before simply cleaved the other in two with a deveastaing overhead strike that knocked the lightsabre to the deck and left the two halves of its owner smoking gently on the deck in a pool of viscera and blood. the templar let loose a thunderous cry and hewed his blade across toward the other sith, forcing him back with the length of the blade. Ryke continued his lightning fast attacks on the sith leader, slowly working him into a position for a finisher. the sith snarled with hate and blasted Ryke with a telekinetic blast slamming him against the wall, and pinning his hands there.
"still think you cant be stopped, inquisitor?"the sith taunted advancing as his compatriots brought down another noble templar.
Ryke struggled against the bonds helplessly.
"i think you are weak, the sith continued to taunt him." he whirled and brought his sabre down in a blindingly fast slash.
the blow never landed, Ryke summoned his power and roared at the sith, flames jetting from his mouth, immolating the sith where he stood in a deluge of warpflame. Ryke dropped from the wall and addressed the smoking corpse.
"I think you talk too much" he said, re-activating his power as he charged his limbs with strength and speed. and dashed the twenty feet to the main melee in the blink of an eye, smashing an unfortunate sith into paste with his hilt.
another sith, glanced toward his fallen comrade and was in turn smashed to the ground by a powerfist, the force of the blow actually denting the deck. the sergeant then vaporised the head of a second sith with his plasma pistol. the last few sith were cut down in short order. Ryke glanced around and motioned the marines back into the thunderhawk, they were done here. the marines collected their fallen and pulled them on board.
Ryke climbed aboard as well, he had tested his enemies mettle and found them wanting. He looked forward to their next meeting.

in another part of the hangar an imperial shuttle left the ship and accelerated to hyperspeed towards another planet. on board was admiral straston and his retainers, he would carry word of this atrocity to the emperor and lead the imperial fleet to exact his vengeance.

Great addition! Very exciting, not at all how I would have imagined it. In my mind the sith win that battle hands down, their calm, their agility and ability to feel what's about to happen would give them an edge. I do however love your take on the whole thing. I also favor the SW world over 40k world though

The reason the marines won so easily is because they are veterans with HUNDREDS of years of battle experience.
they deal with warrior-psykers all the time and win.they would destroy Sith in close combat. especially vanguard veterans.
also note these are veteran space marines against Sith acolytes. there will be better showings of Sith in later chapters.

unless plans change.

While SM are veterans they don't actually deal with warrior-psykers all the time. Sith no only have the force and an impressive martial ability to boost their combat prowess but the advantages of a lightsaber which is near weightless and can cut through damn near anything. (It is after all a plasma blade so should slice through SM fairly easily) Though I imagine the disruption field on a power weapons would halt it. That said, unless they use the force to make up for it Sith are mostly lone fighters and probably un used to fighting in group. SM are able to fight on an individual, squad, company or chapter level with no change in effectiveness.

That said psychic powers would catch them off guard.

That said i'd give the individual combat ability to the Sith (Assuming they are full Sith and not some mopey guy with a vibroblade) but SM would be able to take them in a group fight, they have far more practice working together.

I knew this would be a controversial point
just for the start i pitted the space marines as vangaurd veterans facing sith ACOLYTES
the only sith with real skill was inquisitor ryke's opponent, and well. he got a bit roasted.

the next chapter will be the invasion proper that will come out in the next couple days.
it will feature my very own imperial gaurd regiment

i mean, who wouldnt write about their tabletop army in a fanfic? its a fanfic for the empeors sake!

I think it's so controversial because in the end there's no formula for who would win, it's all up to opinions and biases. In the end though it's your story and opinion. Either one could win.

I LIVE
sorry for the wait i had a few things come up, but this is the perfect way to unwind after revising.

in any case

chapter 3: Invasion.

trooper Gilder gripped the handhold tightly, the Valkyrie rocking and bucking as it hurtled forwards, its payload of Phoenician veterans raring to go. around it, hundreds of other Valkyries flew in tight formation, hellstrike missiles primed beneath their wings with lascannons and multilasers jutting from their noses. above them flew vendetta gunships, each one carrying the proud men of the Phoenician royal guard, trained to the standards of the militarum tempestus these crack troops were to form the backbone of this attack. dastor gripped his lasgun, the stock lovingly carved with the names of every comrade that had fallen, their names spiralling round the plasteel and spurring him on during battle. such scrimshaw was a long standing tradition among the regiments. he looked to his side at his squad, these men and women who his life depended on, and who depended on him in turn. at his elbow stood Selene, his oldest comrade. she looked grimly out the sponson window, her deep red hair ruffling around her shoulders in the wind, her helmet at her belt. She glanced round at him and smiled re-assuringly, her green eyes almost seeming to glow in the low light. He smiled in return.

the Valkyries closed in on their objective: a set of defence lines that sprawled in front of a city, trenches cut into the earth and now manned by a set of white armoured troopers dimly seen in the distance. the deep cerulean blue of the guard was displayed on their vehicles, mottled with grey camouflage. as the range closed small anti-air guns at the defence line let loose a hail of laser blasts, most passing between the valkyries, but some few struck home, each shot punching deadly holes through the wings and fuselages of the transporters. next to their ship a valyrie was struck in the engine, it dipped in the air and was struck by another volley, tearing its hull apart and spilling crew and passengers screaming into the open sky. gilder clutched the scrimshawed butt of his lasgun, eager to get on to the ground and exact vengeance.

the valkyrie jerked suddenly, and the altitude began to drop as the craft began to shudder violently. Selene looked at gilder her eyebrows creased with worry. he pulled her close as the craft continued to jerk and shudder. hte sergeant called from the front of the craft.

"BRACE FOR LANDING WE'RE COMING IN HOT" outside the sponson guns opened up, spraying suppression fire at the trench and taking the heads of the few troopers that kept their heads up as stray blaster bolts ricocheted off the armour. the valkyrie slowed down and hit the ground hard, skidding as the landing gear plowed furrows in the dirt.
"GO GO GO"
Gilder struggled to his feet, pulling selene up with him as the ramp clanged down, they ran out the back of the craft together and ran into the trench before them, screaming battle cries and holding their lasguns in a death grip...

Gilder landed in the trench and immediately loosed a volley of point-blank las-bolts into the nearest group of enemies, their white armour charring and cracking open as the lasbolts tore through their bodies. Around him the rest of the squad were also battling the defenders, Selene gutted one with a well placed thrust with her bayonet, while beside her the sergeant decapitated another with his chainsword before hollowing out the skull of a second with his laspistol. He turned, screaming battle cries as he charged forwards, chainsword roaring. His charge was short lived however as three of the heretics mercilessly gunned him down. Gilder and his squad returned fire and took bloody vengeance on the last few stormtroopers. Gilder was Breathing hard as he took stock of the situation. seven of the Ten original sqad members stood or kneeled around him, covering every angle of approach with their lasguns, as the highest ranker now that the sergeant was dead, gilder stooped and picked up the chainsword from where it lay.

Overhead more valkyries strafed the trenches and disgorged their troops nearby. Gilder turned to his men and signaled them to move out, his best bet was to get to the rest of the regiment. the Squad began their journey, Rockets screaming overhead and detonating thunderously witin the trenches nearby, spewing shrapnel and body parts out the top of the trenches. Gilder kept his head low and sprinted towards the landing zone, The scream of lasguns and blasters marking their destination. Gilder pressed his back to the trench wall and peeked round the corner. Ahead of them a large contingent of fellow Phoenicians were pinned down by some kind of heretical multilaser. He turned his head and motioned guardsman alexander to round the corner. Alexander nodded and whirled round the corner, Flamer roaring death among the tightly packed machine gun nest. The white armoured troopers screamed as those not immolated instantly were cooked inside their armour. The squad advanced through the nest, finishing the last survivors with their bayonets. Gilder Nodded at the platoon commander, who nodded a thanks in return.

Across the trenches the story was repeated, the expert pilots of the phoenician airborne, trained on their stormy ocean homeworld, strafed the trenchlines and dropped in troops to finish up, as behind them enormous landing craft disgorged entire battalions of tanks and soldiers, the host rumbling forward towards the city. Striding in the midst of the host, five war titans dominated the field, their commanding silouhette inspiring the host forwards in the shadow of their god-machines.

Several hours later...
