So here is the Kill Bursta tank I did over the weekend. Honestly, I think this is the best work I have ever done and it feels like a great accomplishment because it hit that sweet spot. Took about 8 hours, I knew exactly what it would be and visualized it from start to finished. I knew the steps, the process, and the different tools I would use. Free hand, pigments, airbrush, washes, and inks. Pretty much the culmination of 8000 points worth of painting orks and honing a style through that process and the last five years (and fifteen years of painting). Feels good to get something I really feel proud of off the table!

awesome. love the exposed wires hanging down. only thing i would say is the dirty orange is a bit too uniform for me. i'd maybe break it up with the odd different colouredor maybe bare metal panel here and there.

Awesome work, mate!

I too like the exposed cables, it adds a nice touch to the model.

There is not this idea.

Thirding, or fourthing the praise on the cables. They really take it above and beyond. I also really like the bits of corrugated metal covering some sections

Thanks guys, that model was too cool for the price when I saw it and then it sat on a shelf primed black for almost two years before I remembered I had bought it!

That barn is killer Peter, and likely to cost me about $10,000 in the next five years since the central supports broke recently...

Beautiful work, as always. Even better that you're really pleased with it; sometimes it makes it so much better when the plan comes together.

Also, you take some really nice photos for being outside and have a very nice backdrop to do so (all the green). What kind of camera and settings are you using?

Thanks Griffith.

The photographer is my wife, using a Canon EOSII Rebel I think. I have no idea what lens she is using or the settings. She doesn't use automatic, but i could ask her what she uses.

The photos would be better if I didn't have to cajole her into doing them. She is reluctant to take the number of photos I request, but I remind her that I bought her the camera and the lens for both our benefit!

Yeah, if you could get the camera settings, that would be awesome. I like the natural light on the model.
I have a Nikon J1, so should be able to replicate the results but not the setting. (Oklahoma vs. Maine)

also, a splash of oxide corrosion on the bronze components at the back would really bring it out.

Any suggestions on that? I have been looking for a good way to do it. Weathering pigment of some kind?

Excellent work on an excellent model! I've had one kicking around for ages and this is great inspiration to get started on it

For the patina effect on the bronze/brass Awesomepaintjob did a tutorial that worked great for me:
