I reckon the range of stuff people will be sending out will be pretty diverse, it might be quite hard to find an ork that would be massively out of place. I personally intend to send a couple of pieces of 40k Ork Heritage along with my own contribution. And I wouldn't be surprised if I'm not the only one. Chances are there'll be considerably more greenskins flowing back to Australi-Waaagh!!! than were sent out.

That warboss is a masterpiece!
My own ork boy has received a few light modifications and a black undercoat and has well and truely bunked the que ahead of hundreds of goblins to be next in line for painting. It'll be nowhere near as jaw- dropping as the warboss (which is as it should be I suppose) but I'll do my utmost to at least still hold my own with some level of pride. I'll upload a pic of him (beside our local landmark cause I love that idea) when he's presentable.
Is mine the only Dakka-clan ork in Ireland?

I remembered this post from the forums and found it again, quite useful if you want to do some easy changes to the boyz.

I pretty much did just that too. I didn't even cut all the way, just enough to bend the limbs more into line with the lines of the miniature so it's a more natural and dynamic pose. Then I added a biker head I had lying around and a wee gunsight and some more spikes just for fun. He's nearly done actually, pics to follow soon.
Nevelon wrote:
The sensible thing would be to just legally change your name. Or just head down to pick it up in full commissar regalia.
I can understand the post office’s reluctance. How do they know you are the real you, and not I Can’t Believe It’s Not Buttery Commissar? With all the packages they deal with, there is not a lot of margarine for error.
that really made me laugh. I think all BC needs is some Dakka branded business cards. Something official looking to use as ID in just such an occasion. It seems this is becoming a more common problem, maybe there's a niche market in it.

My Dakka-Clan ork is all ready to post!
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/745779-.html?m=2
This fella goes by the name of Uzkop.
Starting with a regular AoBR boy I swapped the head for an ork biker head and added some spikes to the sides of the helmet. I offset the angle of the head to follow the lean of the body and adjusted the angle of the leading gun arm to match. I added an orky gunsight just for fun. Then I twisted the angle of the knife at the wrist into line with the line of the trailing leg and added a vintage gorkamorka stickbomb at the back.
Paint-wise he's all dark greys, browns and black with rusty metals and as many checkerboards as made sense. Overall going for the dark gritty look but the blue goggles and red on the pistol help alleviate the gloom. I'm pretty chuffed with how he turned out even if he's not as slick as some of the other lads we've seen already.
And just for fun here's a Dakka-Clan ork on tour pic outside carrickfergus castle.

For anyone wondering 'what's with the 2nd ed. Ork and Gretchin?' I'll explain. Back when I first played 40k these things were everywhere, they were worse than the old plug-a-bolter marines they came in the box set with. And when my Gorkamaork collection approached army size I gathered them up and bulked out my greenskins with the ubiquitous box-seters. Ever since I've always had them In any ork army I've ever fielded and they funnilly enough seem to be some of my best troops (maybe cause I used them to represent 'ard boys) anyway, the long and the short of it is that no ork mob (IMO) is complete without them.
Uzkop picked them up on the Irish ork Heritage tour, they go by Ted and Dougal.

No remorse here. He's gone to a much safer place as far as I'm concerned. Postage and all. Any ork spotted lying around in my house gets played with. And i'm not talking with dice and rules.
There are a couple of preschoolers living here. i'm hoping theyre both cultivating a lifelong obsession with tabletop gaming, unfortunately it's at the cost of many paintstakingly painted minis which I'm learning to re-glue with the calm acceptance of fatherhood. (ie much shouting and misguided rage.)
The ork I painted up was at one time in the sticky grasp of a four year old before it made it safely into the post. Better off in the hands of the worldwide postal service than at my house.

I'm not a Londoner so I can't really claim the Orkish east end drawl but I am from somewhere with an altogether more menacing accent. Imagine you dropped Liam Neeson's warhammer minis and he threatened to use his very particular set of skills (in my case hobby craft) to sort you out. That's my house.

As far as I know all the UK orks are out there and most are paired and returned to ButteryCommissar already. Buttery commissar is the UK hub of this project. The UK orks havn't returned down under yet so if you want to get involved at short notice I'd say your best bet is grab any ork related mini you'd like to donate and paint it up, and PM buttery commissar for the UK address to post it to.

Thanks, you're most welcome to it.
I was inspired by this project to get back into my own orks and the project on the table (so to speak... in my house anything actually on the table ends up in the hands of a 2 year old!) was an old kannon in need of a chassis. I ended up scratch building three new big gunz for my orks one of which (plus some dirt-cheap-ebay-rescue crew) has been donated to da clan as a thanks for getting me back into my 40k again.
I threw in the Runtherd so that if enough folks toss in a spare grot with their painted boy we might end up with enough for a full gretchin squad in da Dakka Dakka Clan!

So excited to see a new arrival in a post with a wee Stars and Stripes beside it! American orks are go!
And Kb those base moulds look great. I reckon you'll be giving yourself plenty of work to do and you might need a ton of green stuff but it looks like it'd be we'll worth it.
Do you have any particular mould in mind? I think battlezones looks good.

This is still pretty high on my list of potential painting/modelling things to do. I don't really do a whole lot of hobby stuff these days (I mostly just write fiction) very occasionally I'll take a notion to paint something or get an idea in my head.
Recently I've been pondering this project again and thinking about objective pieces. No real plans yet but the longer I watch offerings roll in the more tempted I am to pop another one in the post.

Haha! Yes the second one's a real head melter. But congrats on your parenthood. Got two boys myself and I enjoy gaming with them as and however possible. Proper home-brew kiddi-hammer. They break daddy's toys regularly but hey, how else would I ever get them into real hobby gaming?
Looking forward to seeing the Dakka clan come together in 2018.
