I'm starting this thread in the hopes of getting information on how the game has evolved since it released last year. I was one of those who got on the hype train and loved the game for awhile till I started to realize something. I was treating this game like a job..... As soon as I would get off work I say well better get on and get all my dailies done and do bounties as well. The endless grind and the poor build in group finder really turn me off from the game. I know I could go to websites that have lfg sections but you never know if you are going to get a mature gamer who realizes that people have lives outside of the game or the shiny little kids who constantly complain about you not having the best gear or whatever.

So I don't want this to be a bash on Destiny, I just want people's honest opinion of the game. With the next big dlc and all coming out I mean. Also I'm on a ps4 if that makes a difference. Anyway thank you before.

Well, with the DLC dropping tomorrow it's a bit hard to say.

I gave up on the game a few months back but came back to try out the 2.0 patch. It sold me on The Taken King, so take that what you will.

Same as Kanluwen. I played it pretty much exclusively after release (but only got the House of Wolves DLC) but gave it up four months ago to play Skyrim/Fallout why the grind got too boring. Came back to take a look at the Taken King, it looks good, but I'm sure it will be just as grindy. I had a pretty good team, and they've taken me back in now, but I admit, I did get very lucky with them.
I'll probably be playing for the next month when I can (picked up my very first Gjallarhorn yesterday! ) but I reckon I'll take a break after that.

Still love the game, but it doesn't have that much after completing the main quests.

It doesn't, but they've added a LOT more stuff.

For example the Gunsmith now actually gives quests!
Ghost Shells actually do things for you!

And Gjallarhorn will not be a Year 2 Exotic!

Haven't put the game down since year 1 and super excited for taken king. Being in a clan is definitely the way to go. My one has 200 members and it's like family. Always running raids or whatnot. Having that makes the game a lot more enjoyable than playing with randoms.

I'm pretty good in pvp so was playing trials of osiris since it came out. Going flawless every week was pretty fun.

That may have been the problem for me. I didn't really have a good group to play with. All my ps4 buds live on the west coast while I'm in central. Help I still haven't done vault of glass get. Got close to doing it once but by the time we got to the last boss it was close to 3 am and I had been up since 5 am from the day before. Yeah the grind was killing me too but now I have witcher and mgs5 to also play too. A year ago there weren't that many good games out for ps4 imho. So a good group is something I should find just wish there was a better group finder.

The Taken King is what Destiny should have been all along.

I have a love/hate relationship with Destiny.

Granted I have not played TTK yet since I am still at work. But, so far the lack of content that has been dripped out has been extremely disappointing along with the lack of any chunks of story beyond the vagueness that exists.

That said I still enjoy the game. It really has been one of the best controlling FPS games on a console I have ever played. I have this feeling like there is something really great here and I hope one day we will see it.

I agree 100%, if the give us more story other than "I don't have time to explain why I don't have time to explain" lol that was a big slap to the face in the hopes of getting information on what the he'll is going on. I am going to give this game another shot. I didn't play dark below or den of wolves so I have a lot of catching up to do. It anyone wants to group on ps4 shoot me a private message.

Is this ever coming to PC or will it remain a console exclusive?

They replaced peter Dinklage with Nolan North for the ghost voice. They have given the ghost more lines and they pretty funny. I like it, he seems much better at delivering that dry humor.

The Vanguard are also a lot more talkative, which is great.

You can complete "The Taken King" portion(read: just Oryx) in a few hours if you sit down and power through it, ignoring any of the scannable stuff.

Some do, some don't.

"The Taken War: Earth" starts up a whole new quest chain, for example, with new missions popping up in the Cosmodrome.

I haven't finished the quest line for TTK yet and I have sat down with it for a few hours. So far it seems about as long as the original quest with more dialogue and cut scenes.

So, four days in and I still haven't gotten the majority of the quests completed--because new ones keep opening up after I finish another one!

I'm trying to get caught up on the dark below and house of wolves. Once I do that it's on the new stuff and crucible.

Just "finished" the story line for taken king and I'm impressed and Cayde-6 is hilarous then entire time. They did deliver on storyline with this one. After I finish moving it's going to be fair time.

So many quests they toss out after the story is finished. Getting the 25 Flakes (one per chest in the Dreadnought) is really annoying but I imagine a lot of it wasn't designed to be done right out but over time.

God, that took me so long to do. I only did it in the relatively short time I did because of the Nightstalker's enhanced radar.

On another note, how are people finding the new subclasses? Favourite?

Nightstalker is basically what I was promised the Hunter would be; a class that can dish out damage and support the team.

I like Nightstalker more and more as I play it, which was the real surprise for me. The other two sub-classes are a lot of fun but I kind of thought they would be. I went in with the idea I would make my Warlock a Stormcaller.

Finally made it to oryx in the raid but wow he is hard to beat. Managed to score a 309 ghost, 305 chest piece and 307 shotgun though so pretty awesome

Finished the exotic Gunsmith bounty for the Hunter.

Ace of Spades is flippin' amazing. Comes with Third Eye to start with, gets Firefly as its first upgrade(beyond sights), and the last upgrade is a new one called "Maverick".

Every time you make a Precision Kill, a round moves from your ammunition reserve into your magazine.

I completed the "Kill 50 Hive" bounty today without ever reloading.

Loving it so far. Not a super grindy player, but having a lot of fun.

No clan or consistent fire team, so some of this stuff is really tough. The Taken War: Earth with the three targets you have to kill is a bit of a bitch to do solo. Can't manager to kill the last two before they phase out.

I am looking forward to starting the Ace of Spades quest next Armsday, as well as the Fabian Strategy.
