Hi Dakka !
For those of us playing several armies, with which one do you get the mist fun ? It's difficult to say for me, but it's definitely more fun when I don't do a heavy Alpha strike drop pod Space Marines army however.
What about you ? What give you fun playing ?

KDK, always been a CSM fan but KDK makes it fun even when I lose units! Plus its fast and bloody, plays well with the fluff!

Krieg! What a hole...

I don't have tons of armies, but I've played and enjoyed my Scion army more than my Krieg one recently, maybe its just the novelty that'S speaking, because blasting everyone with large blasts is fun as hell.

But so is making it rain men. Its a bit more strategic (drop the right squad at the right place) and harder (reserve rolls), but when it works well, its awesome. Whereas Krieg will always be great because you can fire all the artillery.

I have the most fun with Orks, it's a blast doing random stuff and using the waaagh! KDK is fun too, but nothing compares to ripping apart vehicles with a big boss and his power klaw.

WAAAGH!!!

Hilariously enough the most fun I've had playing 40k recently has been my homemade Daemonhunters book. I've been able to put PAGK on the table and have hard-fought close games in which the game turned on tactics and on the basics rather than on whose random shenanigans went off better/counters the other guy's random shenanigans.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

Daemons and Orks. Daemons cuz they're my most competitive army and I can pull off some crazy shenanigans, Orks because they're just fun to screw around with and I never take them seriously

Daemons for sure. Not only are they semi-competitive, but they don't play like nay other army. Eldar have been my favorite army for the better part of a decade, and obviously they are my most competitive of the 2, but I find that I have to really work at having "fun" with them, since I don't consider it fun if it is too easy.
Daemons have loads of variety too.

It all depends on my opponent list really and the mindset.

I have the most fun with a diverse army that requires some tact to play with. Preferably with some silly plan build into it. These list often include things such as burna wagons, obscure inquisitorial henchmen squads, force weapons ow how I enjoy insta gibbing tau suits with wonky close combat builds, or terminators that have to move from line of site blocking terrain to line of sight blocking terrain. But I will only have fun with it if my opponent allows me to. If he is just gunlining, or wulfen wulfy wulffs it all down then there is no fun in it. I have the most fun playing against competitive lists lists with no hold backies odd lists. crumping those lists with the nastiest obscure shenanigans that I can come up with within my broad model range is also fun. This last attitude makes appoc game really fun. You will not believe the nasty stuff orks can pull off there.

Necrons. Decurion.
Recently, I battled with my Necrons against Tau and Mechanicus, 5000 pts, per side. Maelstrom mission. It was a tough game. An SM army would have been shot off the table after 2 rounds. But Necrons are tough to defeat in an attrition based game. It was a draw at the end.

Necrons, because it's hilarious watching the tiers of frusteration gather in the corners of your opponents eyes when you repeatedly tell them that you don't care what the AP of the weapon is because your rolling Reanimation Protocol saves not armor saves....

Just kidding, that's actually frusterating after a while.

I get my jollies playing Chaos Daemons. Everytime I'm able to add another Daemon to the board using maelific powers it puts a smile on my face.

Khorne Daemonkin for multiple reasons:
1. You can play large unit counts and still finish games (Why you ask?)
2. Well KDK skip an entire PHASE of the game (Psychic), which also happens to be my least favorite phase now that there is a dice pool nonsense.
3. It is an assault based army that rewards assaulting!
4. You can also pretty reliably cut down on or skip the shooting phase! Even the "shooty" units in KDK are very assault based. (Knights, Soulgrinders, Skull Cannons, etc)
5. Combining all of the above most people tend to enjoy playing against my KDK, well maybe not Tau and Eldar armies ehhehehehe

Of my IG, SM and Eldar, I get the most fun out of the Eldar.
But, it comes with a price, as it is guilty fun, which tarnishes it quite a lot. Playing such an OP codex diminishes any victories I get with them.
The most clean fun with 40k is the IG, though.
The SM are pretty boring, in comparison.

Tzeentch Daemons, in fantasy too.

I love the fluff, the mix of insidious villains and ridiculous characters (translates into tactical decisions and hilarious random effects) is just right for me.

The army is set up in a way the forces you to come up with some kind of scheme or shenanigans to win, which is fun, often challenging and fluffy. The random abilities and ability to choose different psychic disciplines keeps the army interesting, because the same list is not quite the same each game (the bookkeeping is annoying though).

TBH being fairly competitive helps, even if you really love an army getting stomped all the time gets to you.

KDK for sure. Love the army, love the rules, love the way it all plays out. Skip the shooting and psychic phase so lots of fun for beer and basement games.

Definitely daemons.

1) Love painting and building them
2) Love how disruptive they are on the table (all invulns, fast, mostly melee, all deep strike, mass psykers, etc.)

It makes me sad to see that not a single ork player has commented. I've always loved playing against the Orks (guard player). They were always the classic may not win but at least you had a blast doing it. They really do need an update that makes them great again.

Definitely orks. I have a large enough collection that I can almost do whatever I want. I can run a blood axes army full of kommandoes, tanks, and stormboyz. I can run a 200 man Goff horde or even a snakebite army full of cyboars and squiggoths. There are so many ways to play and the models have a ton of character. The walker army is my favorite though.

My Armies:
Orks about 15000-16000 mostly unpainted but slowly being worked on
Militarum Tempestus about 2000 points just built
Inquisition about 2000 points unpainted
Officio Assassinorum 570 unpainted
I dont paint quickly

Still in reserve.

Arty guard, even if it's a pretty awful way to play given how maneuverable everyone else in the game usually is. There's just something about the scatter-die and pieplates that I just love. Also seeing whole squads of MEQs get turned into paste with one fateful plate is the most satisfying thing for me in the whole game.

Orks are definitely my favorite fun army, but for anyone that owns an Ork army (be it their main or otherwise), that's a given. I mean, their army is the pinnacle of random chance in the game: Either you win by a landslide or you get scraped off the table one shove-load of Boyz at a time. But it's almost guaranteed every game that at least one of your units is going to pull off something completely ridiculous (Or fail so hard you and your opponent are in tears with laughter).

Still marines. Getting vanilla Tactical Squads into good positions and just knowing that the outcome will be in my favor. . . it warms my heart. Especially against more elite units.

Orks, hands down. Not only do I jut place the models on the table and let them swarm, but its great scaring the bejesus out of unsuspecting gamers with a big fat WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHH!

Actually made a guy scream in a tournament once, the whole room went silent.....followed by applause.....it was a really good WAAAAGH.

Yeah, Orks are great.
But sadly, I can“t do that, because my pals would go crazy when I start to speak and behave like a fething Ork for hours......
I tend do turn into a RP-nutcase with the faction I play....
