Forgive me my wallet for I have sinned. Shiny's did once more put there white metal claws into me.

So, I ealier this week I found myself bereft of superglue. Not a problem I told myself, I have a game at my FLGS tonight, I can pick some up there. No problem.
I walked into my FLGS that night, to have my game and pick up my superglue.
I walked out with my superglue, a Vickers MMG team for Bolt Action and the receipt for an order for a box of Tunguska Interventors for my Nomads, stopped, and wondered what the hell happened.

So Dakka, has anyone else here ever done this?

When I was building up my paint collection I would do this. Pick out a few colors I want to grab to try on some models, head to the store, walk out with what I went there to get, a couple extra pots, and a box or two of models.

One time I went to my local store in order to buy a codex. I walked out with 2000 points worth of space marines. When I got home, I put on some anime and started building. finally at about 3 am I realized, I had just spent 500$. I jumped up as fast as I could, ran to the kitchen. The fridge and pantry were stocked with food, so I sighed a sigh of relief and went back to building models.

Then 4:30 am hit. And I remember I had a final at 8:00AM. I looked at the clock, back at my models and said "Yoloswag" and went back to building.

Got a 96% on that final too.

^ Holy cow! You're a hero!

As for myself, go in for 1or 2 model boxes and some paint. Leave with $200-300 worth of models, paint and books. .... (every time)

Plastic crack, paint fumes and lore shots, oh my!

Ordering things overseas/online in small amounts so I don't "Splurge"

The issue is I make really small impulse orders while at work. This was since around last winter. Nearly all purchases are $20-30.... and $10+ shipping... each. I probably have more in my email. I need to reorder more grass tufts as well... and... like...

- Forgeworld $40
- Secret Weapons $20
- Green Stuff World $20
- Gamesworkshop Direct $35
- Warstore $40
- Hobby Lobby $60
- Hawk Wargames Direct $45
- Warstore $60
- Green Stuff World $30
- Forgeworld $45
- Hawk Wargames Direct $60
- Warstore $25
- Secret Weapons $25
- Hobby Lobby $15

feth. Literally 150$ in shipping there for barely $300 worth of items and I honestly could have bought locally if they had the items in stock.

You go to the FLGS like some folk go to the bar.
Bump into someone who you had not seen in a while and they are doing hobby stuff there.
So, to hang-out properly I get a Bolt Action box of Airborne (~$60).
Then buy some side cutters (needed a set anyway due to trying to cut hardened wire and notched them... ~$15)
Wanted a knife... (~10)
Need to assemble... got model glue/weld (~$10).
White glue and terrain sand (~$20).
Can of GW primer... (~$25).
Bought soda/pop while there (~$5).
Some 4 paints (I know, should let things dry well... was impatient) (~$20).
Oh yeah... need a brush to paint ($15).

Total $180... death by a thousand cuts.
I am well stocked anyway.

Eh, its all right. Earlier this year I also sinned.
I walked into my local model store looking for some plasticard. They had a sale on.
I left with about £200 worth of models.

Mine tend to be in spurts, but man when they hit things get dicey.

I mean, I have no other real vice to blow cash on, which saves me most of the time, but it still hurts to look back and realize you blew $600 on plastic crack in a month. At least I'm starting to get it slowly knocked out now.

Of course.

I promise my wife I wouldn't buy too much more Kingdom Death stuff. New things appear on their webstore, and I drop 4 big ones without even blinking.

And, since she's an auditor, there's very little clever accounting I can do.

Free shipping is the thing that gets me. Because everyone knows that if free shipping is at £40 and you're spending £30, buying another box to get over that threshold is definitely, definitely saving you money! It's just a fact!

Backing a Kickstarter now for post apocalypse resin terrain, and I thought it was going to be a modest relatively cheap little kickstarter at 81 Euros plus shipping...Its now ballooned to over 160 Euro with addons.

Feth.

Ebay is my downfall.
'Damn, look at that box of miniatures I don't need. Bidding starts at 1€, better save it in the watchlist'
A few days later.
'Hey, that box is going to expire, what's the price right now. Yeah, that's reasonable, I'm gonna bid on it.'
Auction won. Price paid. Parcel arrives.
'Cool... wait, I don't need this in the next years, why did I buy it?'

Though it has gotten 'better' in the last months. I spend money on Kickstarter now, so I can successfully convince myself that I really can't afford the next box on Ebay.

Last night I went in to my local FLGS just to meet guys before going to our club... Where I play AGOT LCG and haven't played a table top game in at least a year (Warmachine) and haven't played 40k since 4th edition, maybe 5th.

Thought "oooh, I've bought a Wraithknight online to paint, lets get an undercoat (£10) oh, have a look at the 20% sale the store is doing... Oh? You have Eldar models too do you, well those Wraithguard (£24) look a good price, Oh I do like the look of that Hemlock Wraithfighter (£32) too... Oh you have a Wraithlord (£22.40) well why not?"

Woe is me

Who buys glue at a FLGS? Dollar store or hardware store for me!

I have bought a fair amount of impulse purchases in my day but usually just a blister or box. Except for my last day working at GW. I walked out of there with a stack taller than myself and vague worries about paying my mortgage that month! But losing my 40% discount was really going to hurt if I didn't get everything I could possibly ever want. Lol

More often than not, I walk into the store with a wad of moeny intending to buy X. I look at and pick-up X, hold in my hand, look at the box for a bit. I wander around looking at other stuff with the box in my hand.

Then, I start to think about when I am going to get to work on this project, when I will use it, and who I will play it with. Then I get depressed, put the item back where I found it, and leave the store empty handed.

It saves me a lot of money!

A few weeks ago I went to just hang out at the FLGS.

I had no intention of really buying anything.

I walked out with a Land Raider, a box of Windriders, and Burning of Prospero.

This is not the first time this has happened.

I may have a problem.

On an away job walked into a random charity shop in Oxford to browse.

Walked in next week they have GW old Warhammer GW £80 later.

I spent £130 in a charity shop and I regret nothing!
