Is there a model you have considered buying for an army you do not play?

I have several like this, I liked the talos pain engine but not a huge fan of the other DE models compared to craftworld so I picked him up. I have a few admech units but not a full army just because I wanted to paint them. I have zero interest in space wolves I hate the color scheme and think they are brong to play, but bought a pack of wolf riders to paint up (marine riders painted basic black with rosegold trim and gunmetal accents and using normal marine bits, eBay's the space wolf bits)

I bought Magnus, and was lucky because I do have Chaos Space Marines too. However, I plan on buying all the Primarchs, even though I don't have any Space Marines or indeed any Army of the Imperium.

I think there are probably a few models in every range I covet as a modeler. The fact that there are so many is probably a good thing. If it was only one or two, I’d be hard pressed not to grab them. But when there are dozens, it’s easy to recognize the slippery slope and stay off it. Only so much hobby budget to go around, and I’ve got two main armies to work on as it is.

The red armored Eldar dude in the new Eldar Triumvirate is brilliant! But I don't have any desire to start that army.

I have a few of these - a Fire Warrior, a couple Sisters of Battle, etc.

They still see occasional use in Dark Heresy.

All the time. Aesthetics always come first for models for me. I couldn't give a **** if they're good on the tabletop or not. Started off collecting wolves. I bought Ksarkin, Elysian Drop Troops, a Leman Russ tank,Legion of the Damned, some Deathwatch and certain "vanilla" marines for no other reason than the models were great sculpts or had excellent poses. Before I gave up on the 40k rules, I had planned on incorporating them into my Wolves. Since then I've acquired Sylvaneth Dryads and Treemen, Chaos Bloodletters and Bloodcrushers, Mantic Zombies and Ghouls, Raging Heroes bikers, and more 3rd party bits than I can recall!

Technically, the Deathwatch from Deathwatch: Overkill fit in this category for me, although I am still considering starting a Deathwatch army at some point. I saw the figures and just had to have them, though.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I love the Tyranid line, but I'm not about to build an army. So many of their models are just awesome though.

The Adeptus Mechanicus Tech-Priest Dominus and Cawl. Those are awesome models. I've been considering getting one to use as a haemonculus.

I started a small force for every single army specifically to avoid this question.

I never said this was a good decision. But I did say I regret nothing.

Krieg! What a hole...

The Valkyrie and some Stormtroopers, then I realised I had enough models to start an actual army when the Scion book dropped. So I did.

Otherwise I quite like the looks of both the Elysians and the Tau Firewarriors.

As a rule I don't think I've ever painted anything for fun or "just because". I dislike painting enough...and I'm not skilled enough to do anything for the artistic appeal.

That being said I'd like to find a version of this fantastic Commissar to rescue if I can find an excuse to field him in a game somehow.

Best commissar model they ever produced.

I don't play Tau, but bought a Riptide because I loved it when they painted it white. Got one of the old Inquisitors, Gideon Lorr? Not sure the name, the Van Helsing looking minis. Never played Inquisition. Bought Deathmasque but don't play Eldar or Deathwatch. Just the minis look so great, didn't want to give up on building them up one day.

Rule of Cool all day, every day.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

I quite liked the monolith for necrons and the Tau hammerhead tank (two armies I never had the slightest interest in every actually collecting) - so I bought them just to light them up (electronics).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
