I already have reached the limit with the Primaris characters at 30€ a pop. I'll get these in discounted sets or kitbash them.
10 infantry is pushing it with 40€, but with the right point cost I can live with it. But 40€ for low in game points is also a no-go.
I think they are really pushing it, I not sure a infantry charecter should be at $40(and more for some) in Aus. And we have kits over $250 now.
And i think they are pushing it, same size minis in other games i play are about 40% cheaper.
Units fair better price wise, but starting some army is crazy. and there starter boxes are not great. Mostly just savings but no thought to the game itself.
Here at least i think they are just pushing new players out and its just older players that have been in the hobby as there customers. Throwing money into it.
1) Tank: $30-40
2) Walker: $20-30
3) Infantry figure (plastic): $3-4 per.
4) Character (any material): $10-15
5) Super Heavy (if I did them): $100ish.
Now to clarify, I don't care how I get there. If it's a combo box, and an online discount...and then an eBay sale that's fine. I haven't paid more than what I listed above in....years. The only exception would be when I kit bash a handful of tanks using numerous kits and resin aftermarket....but that's a conscious decision to design something specifically the way I want it.
On MSRP, GW hasn't been anywhere near the above outside of combo boxes (I picked up no less than 3-4 of the Prospero and Calth boxes, and have split numerous starter boxes etc.). All of those were purchased with an online discount, a subsequent sale and free shipping.
I'm comfortable saying I'm no longer a GW customer, and won't be buying more models in the future unless I stumble upon some used ones or discounted ones on eBay (even then my interest has been waning heavily).
I don't care what GW charges, and I could afford to pay more than what I listed above, but my interests in the hobby/game/miniatures does not extend beyond the above. It's not about not having the money - it's my perceived value for what I'm spending, and a $100 tank....isn't valuable enough to get me to spend money on it.

Primaris characters are ludicrously expensive so I would say £15 is my limit for an infantry sized character, even if they have all the do-das like a scenic base.
GW's prices have priced me out for a long time and it's one of the reasons I didn't invest in flyers because £40 a pop for a Crimson Hunter is too much for me.
EBay is my friend now and unless there is a bundle with real savings I won't be buying from GW.
I was willing to pay for a Thunderhawk Gunship. Not willing to pay for a Transporter.
I'd buy a GW Predator for 57 if I wanted one, but I wouldn't buy a Deimos Pattern from Forgeworld for 89.
I wouldn't buy a Rhino for 37 or Razorback for 41 if I wanted one. I'd buy a Predator (Or a Whirlwind or some other Rhino Chassis) for 57 and magnetize in case I wanted a Predator.
I wouldn't buy a Cerberus, Typhon, or LR: Proteus for any price, don't like the models.
I'd buy chapter iconography doors and shoulderpads all day long.

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.
Please report to your nearest GW store for attitude readjustment. Take your wallet.
I'm willing to front about $200 to start an army and I'd be willing to shell out an additional ~$100 a year to keep it up to date. But it's easy saying this as a primarily Dark Eldar and Eldar player since my armies haven't had new models in a decade.
For me, $3-4 per infantry model, no more than $10-15 per "large infratry"
I won't pay more that $100 for ANY single model period. Got my WK years ago and at discount.
This is an insanely good question that requires a bit of soul-searching in the black heart of the hobbyist.
I "think" it is dependent on how much the GW models diverge from the "going rate" for similar size and quality models.
I can understand the relative niche market may see a markup since they are controlling their own market environment.
I did a bit of a market review below that I added a spoiler on.
Overall: GW DOES follow the market fairly well. Where things are at "insane" levels are their unique resin character models and any elite squad pricing.
So, I guess i would stop when the "normal" models get to be about 20% more than comparable models.
For instance, I would not own a Taurox if not for the bundle deals since they are $58 on their own.
I will go with local pricing for comparison with standard models out there for modern or WW2:
Will compare with Imperial guard since it is really old models in most cases AND fairly comparable.
Do not make me compare Gundam models to the various walker models we have.
Troops / Infantry: Low end models (typically sold in a pack of 8) 1/35 to 1/48 scale (German Infantry Maneuvers...), is around $1.25 to $2.25 per model. GW, Cadian shock troops = $3.48 per model OR get the Cadian 5-pack for $2.40 per model.
The higher end ones (typically sold in a pack of 5) are around $4.80 per model. GW (Scions, Devestators, Terminators, Ogryns) = $8.40 to $18.60 per model.
Single character models 1/16 scale (!?!, note not a good comparison) are around $17 to $36. GW single models (Perfectus Commissar, Yarrik, Harker and Creed) = $18-$25 For the newer (Primaris anything HQ) or Resin models (Severina, Eisenhorn) we are looking at $40 to $45 per model.
Smaller sized Vehicles (Chimera / Rhino Equivalent) Armored Cars and Tanks 1/48 scale (Dingo, 7 ton MK IV, M10...) = ~$37 for a normal model no photo-etch parts. GW (Razorback, Rhino, Taurox, Chimera, Land speeder storm) = $37 to $58
Armored Cars and Tanks 1/35 scale (Centaur, Crusader, Cromwell....) = $40-$50
Larger sized Vehicles (Land Raider) Bigger Vehicles / Tanks 1/35 (M51, Type 10 MBT, Leopard, Abrams, Panther, JS-2, again, no PE) = $60 to $70 GW (Leman Russ, Wyvern) = $60 to $80
Light Tanks at 1/16 scale (Renault FT...) = ~$100 GW (Land Raider, Terminus Ultra) = $89 to $100
Heavy tanks at 1/16 scale (Panther G, SU-100, M41A3...) = $200 to $300. GW (Baneblade...) = $170
A revolution is an idea which has found its bayonets.

I will still likely buy Ork releases and a few kits per year. but i bought a ncie 3d printer and lately have been making more counts as and custom parts to modify my existing armies to look beter along with some whoel new models. I am workign on a counts as Imperial guard army that will not have a single GW model in it (I have a few thousand point of guard already but this is more of a themed steam punk/ 20's gangster themes force. and honestly the printer cost about what one of the new apocolypse boxes run.
I have only bought like 4 kits from GW. Thats because I refuse to give them money for failcast and sadly thats most of my army range and what I want to have.
Eerything I buy is either discounted box sets, which are resold to buy metal stuff I want on ebay or straight up buying cheap stuff on ebay usualy NOS. Im happy with this life choice.
Now i wouldint bat an eyelid buying a new plastic kit if it was something like a new aspect kit if it was nice sculpts. It would be a case of: "£30 for a 5 man squad ?? Please mr GW sir. take my money" Im looking at mierce minatures and Im like damn... those look sweeet. So I will happily be buying those once my army is complete because GW does not offer scultps half as good half the time. But the really good sculpts they do offer I will pay and arm and a leg for and be happy about it.
My build/paint rate is nowehere near high enough to notice a price hike to be honest. I already have a backlog so im not realy going to buy any new kits for a while. I question the motives behind some of these complaints..why spend a lot of money on minnatures building up a stockpile of gray plastic which you are unlikely to ever build and paint and then complain about prices.. Like you dont have to buy it.
The only time this doesnt strictly apply is if you are new and just starting out so the upfront cost is huge. It has always been so unfortunately.

Typically I only buy the large battalion/army boxes with multiple models, where the price is less than the total cost of the individual parts. I build my army around them - and I only buy like 1-2 a year as I'm very slow to assemble and paint things. My annual outlay is generally not that high overall - and it fills in what little spare time I have quite well.
I was thinking about expanding my Sisters of Silence further.
But the price direct from GW is insane (£5 per model).
From discounters, about £4 is common, but that's still too much considering the faction could be all-but squatted at any moment.
£3 I'd go for (which is about what you could get them for after the Talons of the Emperor box was released), so it's off to watch eBay for me.
And the price for anything related from Forge World is just mental...

I would not pay $300 for Fulgrim, Daemon Primarch of Slaanesh, the Angel Exterminatus, the perfect son....
I definitely wouldn't GW!
NOPE!
Maybe.... but that's it!
(I imagine a model that I would probably pay the most money for, and then how much I would pay for that model. I don't think I'd spend $300 on Fulgrim... but I might. I mean... it'd be REALLY tempting. But no.)

I mean it in a non-snobby way but I’ve reached my limits with 90% of the stuff. Kinda weird since I was a person that always used to defend GW but as a I look at it I’ve probably bought less than 10% of my stuff directly from GW. Thank the lord for eBay and my FLGS.
Depends. GWs prices are a bit all over the place. Tyranid Hive Guard are hugely overpriced for example while AdMech Dragoons are fairly reasonable I think. It depends on what you're buying really.
I will say though, I'm glad I already have 4 exorcists. God only knows how much the plastic ones will cost after seeing the prices of the new AdMech tank.
