I see what you mean. I get the middle profile on the "how many models in unit" screen. I never even noticed they had stats in that part.

Not for me, but I never had that problem.

You can always search. The rules will be locked once you click on a strat/relic/whatever unless you have imputed a Codex code, or pay for the app (in which case all 8th ed stuff you can see, and all unit/weapon profiles).

Maybe this is a stupid question, but how do people get a codex code, if they bought theirs in 8th ed?

If you pay the monthly fee you get access to all 8th edition material. The codes are only applicable for 9th edition books.

You don't get one if you bought an 8th edition codex.
Instead, all the 8th edition rules are available to subscribers.
Codes only apply to 9th edition rules.

All the 8th ed Codices are unlocked in the app by default; no requirement for a code.

Nobody in this thread is defending the app or GW except, if one stretches the definition, for one person who misinterpreted what you said and suggested that it actually worked for them. In that case, it wouldn't be a bad thing that they were pointing out that you were incorrect.

I don't see many defending the app, but the defect reporting comment still stands. If you encounter defects it would help everyone if you report it. That's kind of how it works in the entire software industry and is in no way limited to how GW does things. Hell, it even helps in non-digital assets when players bring up issues that are then later sorted out in a FAQ.

Then don't use it? I don't see the point of pointing out issues, if you're not willing to do something about it. Otherwise, there are already two other active threads here where you can complain about the app.

I was pretty disappointed by the app too. The UI was really awkward to me in places, not showing the way I would expect. Couldn't figure out how to rename armies. Couldn't select my organization stack anywhere. And every where you looked was a lock.

The first time they produced something that should just be free to even try to compete with another app or even just a pen and paper, and they STILL managed to overprice it.

Really it should be $1 just like Azyr. Its the kind of price where you would never notice the money being gone and it still manages to work just fine. Plus all the rules are there for free! Why is a several year old app by the same company cheaper and better? Who knows.

So, Gregor Samsa, what is the point of this thread? To whine? To show how amazing you are that you found a bug and don't want to report it? To prove the app sucks?

Yeah, the app has big issues and is a huge disappointment at best. This is not news, and you haven't even scratched the surface of the issues in it with this post. Go look at the app rating, it's one of the worst I've ever seen on an app store.

Either do something productive, or delete the app and go on your way. Don't create pointless complaint threads.

2. Nobody here is really able to help you

Indeed, we already have multiple threads on the dumpster fire of the app. Probably best to concentrate all the repetitive comments in one location, so they can be repeated over and over in all their awesome glory.

Threads like this are valuable to some. I cancelled my sub after one month and am waiting for the time when I can re-sub(when these bugs are ironed out).

I agree that the app is still extremely not worth the money but when it can do everything it says it can then I will jump back on. Without people reporting these bugs to the community how will we know? GW certainly wouldn't tell us. It looks like its gotten so bad with the number if users that they've run their win an army comp twice already to entice people on to it.

Not what the poster you responded to was saying at all, yukishiro.

Bugs are always a thing in software - I doubt there is anything out there which is truly bug-free. When you encounter them, the best thing you can do is report it to the people who design and/or maintain the software, so they can be fixed. Otherwise, there is the possibility that they'll never hear about your specific issue, and so cannot fix it.

And before anyone accuses me of being a white knight or a shill - I've not downloaded the 40k app, nor paid a penny towards it. From what I've seen and heard on here, it needed more time in development before release, and could definitely do with a more agile hotfix cycle - fortnightly bug fixes, say. But in order for them to know they need to fix a specific bug, you have to make them aware it exists, as I really doubt they're psychic...

Well making life hard on every forum known to men, to point when even a companies excs get told by someone that there is wave of black PR being done online, is a way to get a reaction out of a company. And if it doesn't, then still a good thing, because then you know that the company will never ever react to any problem, save for those that target their pay check directly.

Like I don't know apple, there is absolutly nothing you protest about, that would make the company budge. Maybe GW is like that, and because there is an influx of new people each edition, everyone wants to check for themselfs if it is a thing.

People only really started "demonizing" OP when they started accusing anyone of not bemoaning with him to be some GW lackey.

Probably would be better to send a formal complaint to GW than to expect GW to follow the trail of forums. I mean, it is humans who run this after all and they are far from omnipotent.

I cannot stand the Battlescribe app, it's clunky to use. At least its free.
The GW one is more intuitive, but they need to fix the errors. I'll stick with it for now as I find using it far easier than BS.

Note I said "instead of" - in fairness, I don't think Gregor specifically responded to say if they'd provided feedback to GW, but just kicking off a thread insteading of sending the feedback in doesn't help to get the issue resolved, does it? Doing this as well as providing the feedback is another matter, as at least the developer has a chance of fixing the issue.

Then there's the other question of why this needed its own thread when there's an ongoing thread about issues with the app...
