But GW doesn't want or need a formal complain. They know the app is bad, because the sales are low. And they are so low that GW made the most un imaginable thing, which is lowering the price of it. And while I assume that maybe there is a chance that some GW employees hang around forums, doubt those are those with actual decision power though, you are right that to expect them to read a specific post is a foolish thing to do. That is why such actions are or should not about writing a specific post, civil smart or the total opposite, and hoping that GW will use it to fix stuff. No you make the life of people who are on the forums unbearable, specially those that may have lines of contacts to people working at GW.
They go to their partners and point out that their forums, are being flooded with specific comments, and that it doesn't seem to end. Then , their probably lower ranking GW employee friends, can go to someone higher up and tell those people that things are not going well with product X. Then there is a chance for reaction. Of course in GW case, the reaction to making something bad, is just ingoring that they did it. But that is a separate case that has more to do with operating at minimum cost with a skeleton crew of people in the studios.
I mean we are talking about a company, which is big, like 30 or 40 years old, and they got the idea that a proof reader maybe a good thing like last year.

There is a specific quality in what is expected in a paid product. If you can't justify the price point of the product compared to similar free products, then there is a serious issue. I know folk dont like Infinity Army and Battlescribe, but they are better products, one of which is sponsored directly from a company and arguably gives you more as it has direct links to free rules wiki that can help new players.
Fancy UI and a name brand in the end can't support an inferior product for more than a short period. Eventually the consumer realizes that they are being had.

Only GW could make a product this bad and expect people to pay for it.

That is an unhealthy approach to anything in life. Most people on this forum have nothing to do with this app and really don't need their lives to become unbearable.

Your approach is very passive aggressive and includes attacking innocent bystanders. Either you address the problem directly or just leave well enough alone.
Seriously, that is a very toxic approach to life.

Re: The monthly price for the App- The Big Four (Apple, Google, Samsung, Microsoft) each charge 30% of any transactions made on the app. If the app costs $10, Apple is taking $3 of that $10. GW has calculated out how much they want to make on each sale, then tacked on the extra 30% to pay for the platform fees. If you try to bypass this fee, the platform will just kick you out. See the Apple vs. Epic Games court case, where Apple took Fortnite off the App Store when Epic Games set up an in-game store outside of the App and refused to pay Apple it's "tithe".
Re: Bugs- GW pulled a shady, dirty, underhanded software development trick on consumers by releasing a barely functioning app, and people paid for it! Then they asked everyone to become beta testers for them. It's like they totally skipped the Quality Assurance and Testing steps of software development, rushed out the app to production, and then charged for it! The guys that made the base code? They are done. They have moved on to other products/apps. Their job was to make an App, and they did. It was the responsibility of the Implementation Team to make the front end QA/Testing team to make sure it works, before handing it off to the maintenance team to maintain the code and fix any bugs that would pop up during use. This is just software development and GW is trying to make up for paying a load of money for the app.
To put it another way- GW thought they could save some money on software development by contracting out for a bare bones app that stopped at the Testing Stage, and then tried to finish it themselves in-house. That is a failed software development process that has been proven again, and again, and again. Whoever sold this idea to the GW Executive Board should be fired. Or GW should have hired better software developers instead of the 20 year old Geek Fan Bois that work for Mountain Dew and Dorritoes.
This is the kind of thing that is expensive to make, and difficult to do well. You can't cut corners and just expect your target audience to accept it. GW should have invested the money in a quality software design company with a proven track record of large scale app development, production, and launch, and paid the money for it. In my mind, this is 100% "you get what you paid for" and GW paid pennies when they should have been paying tens of thousands.

And I can appreciate that people feel different to me, we all use things differently. I know that I considered building lists in BS a chore, so would stick to pen and paper for casual building. With the GW app, I'm on it frequently tinkering with list ideas. Thats why I'm willing to be patient for the bugs to be worked out.

I think it's good to have options for multiple ways of doing things. I can appreciate the GW app for what it is, and reference it a lot for 8th edition rules. But I switch over to BS to make the list changes after looking up rules.

I've been using the Lone Wolf Army Builder for the past while, just updating the files for my army myself (as updates are very very slow). Paid for my license like 15 years ago and kept using it.
I too find Battlescribe to be slow/clunky to use and the output is really hard to read. I've used it occasionally, when I need to, but I am hoping the GW app can get it's act together soon. It's fast with good output, but not there yet for both my armies.

I thought they'd release an app with at least the obvious bugs fixed...
Edit: I'm also not sure why people are jumping down the OP's throat on this, they don't own the forum and it's off topic. It's perfectly valid to share a personal negative experience with the app.

Seriously, that is a very toxic approach to life.
It doesn't matter if it is healthy or not, if one looks for results, then people who get actually bothered are the ones that can levarge pressure. Because they are really no going to want to hear about stuff over and over again, in places where they do not want to hear about it. At the same time writing to GW has more or less zero impact, unless it is a law suit with an actual chance for something to happen.
As some wrote in the thread already, the company that made the app is finished with it, GW is only interested in making their money back and not being in the red, because of the platoform fees.etc
As for it being toxic, maybe it is, but air is toxic and we still breath it. Ton of politicians don't react to anything up until they find a 3k protest group standing in front of their mothers house, and suddenly they spring in to action, and decided that closing hotels and ski resorts, durning corona was not a good idea, even if 24h before they said they will not let stuff open. All of the protest works only, because their mother does not want to live in a place where she gets torchs, bullhorns and getting spit, if she stries to leave the house.
Vice versa the same people protest against the ruling party up till their parents are starting to lose their jobs, their pensions, are kicked out of the lines for surgeries because "documents got lost" etc. If toxic methods were not used, then the positive result , for the ruling party, wouldn't be achived. And in the end game it is the results that matter.

Oh look, if you sign up for their new & free "My Warhammer" you get automatically signed up for a free month of the app.
And if you don't specifically cancel before your apps free trial is up you get billed going forward.
And if you don't sign up for MW? Looks like you lose access to your order history, saved passwords, payment/shipping info, and any credits to your act.

GW is doing it with their rules for a long time now and why should they expect that the same people who pay to be Alpha/Beta Testers for their rules don't do the same for an App (while at the same time praise GW that their work is superior to others)
I can see why this catched GW by suprise

Another reason to do as much as possible through your LGS and ebay rather than GW directly.

If they had a handy bug report form and not a whole survey you had to fill out about your gaming habits every time you wanted to say this unit is missing an option, that would have been nice. Also the survey is closed and you can’t use it anymore.

Only if you click the Sign Up & Subsribe button.
I signed up to My Warhammer just fine without activating the app sub too.
