I'm building some drop pods using the GW Template - but it requires 3mm board for some parts. None of the stores here stock that size, and I'm wondering, is 3mm foam board is more readily available in Europe than in the states? That said, does anyone have recommendations for a 3mm board of some sort? I'm probably just going to use some sort of heavy matte board, but I thought I'd ask for suggestions in case anyone else has done this.

3mm is (roughly) 1/8", which I know is available in the US. Have you checked art stores? That is, not some crafty frou frou place like Michaels or Ben Franklins but hardcore art stores staffed by artnicks festooned with peircings, tats, strange clothes and even stranger hair. Pla-za Art, Pearl Art & Craft, and other stores like them generally have extensive loose paper stocks (like hot and cold pressed watercolor paper, several brands of illustration board and, usually, a dizzying array of other artist-grade materials for sale, which should also include the thinner foam core you're looking for.

Plaza is where I got my 5mm board - and it was the only size they had. I'm in the city, and the stores here are small and don't have the big selection one finds in suburban strip mall stores. I might try some other stores this weekend, but I've been in most of the local art stores plenty of times and I think 5mm is the only size foam board I've ever seen in stores here.
