Hello folks, I see the wargear book referenced several times in the "you make the call" section of these fine forums.

Is the wargear book "official"?

Does it ever override a codex or the BGB?

My opinion is that it is just for fluff, but I would love to hear what other people think.....

It's official. And includes next to no fluff.

It's a compilation of the Wargear entries and army summaries from the various codexes, incorporating various updates and clarifications. It also includes the Vehicle access and firepoint appendix that was left out of the rulebook.

Yes, but let's say I have the space marines codex, an IG codex, and the wargear book. Which one takes precedence?

The Wargear book because it says in the preface it contains the most up to date information.

If the codex was released after the Wargear book (Tau) then obviously the Wargear book is not the most current. Besides that there is updated information in the Wargear book you cannot find anywhere else.
