i'm starting a VC army and this is the first model for it that i've painted. before i go and make a few units of them i wanted to get some feedback on the paint scheme. so let me know what you think. thanks.
i want my whole army's bases to look like their trudging thru a muddy battlefield, so i'll be adding some flock here and there and some other battlefieldy stuff, but since this is the test model i wanted to work more on the model and making it's feet look muddied.
i'm not sure what to do about the bases yet, but most people don't think that it's working thus far and i tend to agree. i'll have to do some experimenting to see what i can figure out. however i have painted two more wolves and tried to make them look somewhat more realistic in terms of fur pattern.
1. A little less blood, try looking at a picture of an eating wolf they dont "slobber" that much.
2. Im no painting guru, but a smoother transition between the gray and brown would be nice. Again pictures of real wolves could be an inspiration.
keep up the good work.
With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time...
Looking good. Really nice job on the painting, although I think the 2nd set of wolves with the dual colors need some more variation as the legs match the fur so perfectly (although it looks like you haven't finished them to the standard of the first one anyway so I'm guessing htey just need a little more work). The bases could also be a little more interesting, it would take a lot of work but perhaps you could use greenstuff or some other substance to make more of a mud texture?
