Here's an Iron Warrior list I thought would be pretty balanced and fun to play in normal 1.5K tournament games. It's got a little bit of all the good stuff, instead of going overboard with any particular choice. I didn't take any point sinks, and consider this army a decent all-rounder, since I have a reasonable counter-charge ability, some harassment, decent mobility, indirect fire to give a tactical edge, and a lot of different types of guns. The army should be succesfull if played well. Any opinions from SM or IW veterans, regarding the 1.5K composition? Remember that in 1.85K all lists look quite different. I can't see any army this force couldn't beat by playing a good game, except possibly a reasonably shooty Chaos army with Siren heroes. Anything else that comes to mind?

It's nice to have you back after a while. You always add a nice sharp edge to the Army Lists forum with rasor like comments. Also there are only a few here on Dakka who post and discuss 1500 point lists. Here in the Netherlands these are / where the standard as well and I like lists @ 1500 points; you have to make hard choices when building a 1500 points list, more so than on 1850.

Anyway, your list:

I personally prefer Flight to Speed for the Prince, the D6 is too random for me. With 12'' I know what to expect, but YMMV. The Infiltrating Lieut needs Speed of course.

The rest of the list is very clean, not much to add except for my taste 27 models isn't a lot / enough in 1500 points.

If I rememeber your GT Daemonbomb correctly it was something like

Personally I think that this Daemonbomb of yours has a more than good chance against the list you present today - moreso when you'd add more (Mounted) Daemonettes. I think you will outshoot a lot of lists, but the lack of durability in numbers means that a fast CC army like a good Daemonbomb might trump you.

That makes an typical IW army too straighforward for me. Maybe with some Bikers with a champ with Fist you could add some reliable countercharge. Also, Longshot replied to my BL list on this page: why any Vehicles at all, in Escalation they will hamper your list. There is truth in that.

Thanks for the quick reply. I sold my 'Dawn Wolves' Chaos demon army because I got insanely bored with just infiltrating and deep striking units day in day out, and I'm just trying to get back to 40K with an army that's quick to get ready and painted for the tabletop. Thus the low model count Iron Warriors really suit my needs at the moment. Playing against a daemon bomb like my old army should be fairly interesting like you pointed out, but I don't think I couldn't deploy so that to make it a tough game for both of us. Although I got to admit that looking at all those Bloodletters is pretty scary. They must be the best assault troops in the game.

The reason for the vehicles is that I really want mobile firepower instead of deploying models in woods and then rolling dice for two hours. Daemonic possession is a wonderful vehicle upgrade, making Chaos Predators one of the best tanks in the game, so why not take lots of them
