Can you put the Emperor's champion in a drop pod (obviously, he would have it all to himself since he cannot be attached to, join, or lead a command squad) or does he have to deploy on the board all on his lonesome?

I was hoping GW would address this question in the new FAQ's, but that was silly.

Utah (Oh god)

No, you can't give him additional equipment or alter him in anyway (as per the BT rules) thus giving him a transport would be altering his profile, making such a thing against the rules.

Thanks,
That is way I suspected.

As a side note, that's a battle pic I'd love to see: an Ork horde deployed en masse, and a lone Emp. Champ. on the other side. xD

I think the lone champ could be a good decoy. Since he is one model, he'll be easy to hide behind terrain.

Speaking of the emperor's decoy (ehem, champion), I have always been amazed at the lengths players will go through to kill him, ignoring far more important (and SCORING) units to kill him.

Sometimes I think that's half the point of him being in the army. I recently played a game where my Tyranid opponent threw 3 Warriors, a Fex and his Tyrant at my EC. I killed his Warriors (Scything talons, Deathspitter), killed his Tyrant (Meltagunned the crap out of it beforehand though, so only 1 wound was left when they got into CC), and finally took one wound off the Fex before dying in glorious HTH.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse. The person, who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

How about another question similar to this:

If I have a nine man Crusader Squad in a drop pod, can the Emperor's champion join up with them and drop in?

What about other HQ choices? Like a Marshal or Chaplain? Can they tag along with a 9 man squad in a drop pod?

Just as a note, you'd probably have better luck with your own thread... the last post in this one is nearly 4 years old.
