Hey fellow Dakkaites, Yet another blatantly stolen rumour from Warseer. This time from the estemed Brimstone himself: Pictures from the new Harlequins and Warlocks! http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50255 I like very much. What glorious days we live in between the DKoK Heavy Weapons, the Gorgon, Avatar and the Eldar goodness... So much to buy, but with a month old baby in the house all cash goes to diapers and napkins and such . Anyway maybe some of you guys can thow some money in the Harlies direction. Cilithan out...

WOW!!! Now the debate begins... do I sell my harlie army on ebay to raise money for the new ones?? Or just hold on to what I've got.... Has anyone confirmed or denied the harlies being a 0-1 choice only? Or will GW actually let me run my harlie "army" using my Great Harlie as an Autarch, DJs as firedragons, bikes as bikes and the wraithlord as a wraithlord??

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time... |

Several people who have held the codex can confirm that harlies are indeed 0-1. But there is nothing stopping you from proxying your models they way you see fit. I have heard a great many people who plan on making harlequin themed armies for eldar, so I think its a great idea.

Why? That avatar rocked!
But I figured it was time to improve my old avatar from years ago and match it to the new light background dakka has nowadays.
back On topic, I second Kyoto's concern for the harlequins. They are indeed very nce models, but I too was hoping for something very similar in respects to a very active pose.
These are still really great though.

Well from what I've heard they aren't quite as impressive without the paint on them, but you can say that about all the Rackham stuff too. Really- the new eldar range is everything the new orcs isn't (except Nelson's sweet Gorbad!).

Good looking stuff. I just wish the Deathjester had a reason to exist. A reason to take him in a list that is. All the Harlequins do look great.
Of course with my through the floor painting standards, I just don't know how much justice I could do the model.

I know I'm incapable of painting them to any standard fitting for a model like that. But I figure that if I add a squad of these guys to my Iyanden (Harlequins stop by to help out a dying Craftworld with [rumored] 4 rending attacks on the charge for 22 pts each), the models will be these guys. I just don't think I'll have the patience to painted the checkered pattern on the pants. But if I don't, it just seems like a crime. The problem is that it seems like an equally heinous crime to take that much time on the pants for each model. Oh, is assembly line speed painting truly irreconcilable with these models?

Seriously I dont get why everyone likes harlies.. is it the fact you use to not be able to have them .. and still sorta cant (0-1).
They're cool.. but so is most of the eldar.

I have four words for you guys who want to use the models but are bristling at the 0-1 limit. Dark Eldar Wych Cult.

@Mr. X, that would be awesome if you could play an Eldar Harlie cult list like the Wych cult option in the DE list. I am not sure that it would be tourney viable but it would be incredibly fun.

Using the "Counts As" theme that GW seems to be OK with, and a little advance notification to the tournament organizers, you should be good to go...
And that is a good idea!

I would go with a more sinister Paintjob...but nonetheless pretty nice models. I agree with The Crawling Chaos, though, that the Death Jester is still the top notch of them and will pretty much savely get a place in my army...at least as an Exarch in my Dark Reaper unit.

The Harlies are quite a disappointment. The sculpts appear to be mostly well done, but no significant improvement on the original models, aside from some slightly more slender weaponry... and the poses with the elongated loincloths are just ridiculous. What is meant to be going on with that second one? He appears to be jumping forwards in a flying kick, with his loincloth reaching ahead and grabbing onto a rock for him. At least that's the only way I can explain it flowing out in entirely the wrong direction.
The lack of any real movement in the loincloths (ie: they're pretty much just straight, with no real billow and flow with movement) makes them look like what they are... an incredibly artificial-looking way of posing models in jumping poses.

Mh...Agree...it would have been cooler if these models were just running with waving clothing. Actively helping loincloth is something that strikes even me as unusual...but it's a hell of a trick! Go team magician-clown!

Whoah, thanks for the pics. Great stuff. Most of what makes it great is probably the painting - model looks flat with no bumped helpers. However, rudimentary diamonds aren't too hard - I did it with two of my old crisis suits. It's the shading within each diamond that'll suck. Now I have another scheme for a new crisis suit - harlequin body plus masque mask! Don't really care about the loincloths since I've always hated loincloths. The kicking one looks like he's actually jumping backwards, but if you think of it that way the leg that should've kicked the rock is the one that's adducted...

Solitaire isn't getting rules; thus, no model. Here's the Death Jester. He looks good, but why you'd pay for one instead of upgrading another trouper to carry a harlequin's kiss is beyond me. The Harlies are going to be a sick CC unit (the Shadowseer being a mandatory upgrade), but the DJ won't really have a purpose. Sweet model though.
