This wouldn't be GW's first click game attempt. They first tried it with LoTR.

So it has a dial on the bottom. Its been done with EPIC awile back for the titans.
It is a good thing. Imagine the way the original crimson skies was played, this just streamlines it abit.
if this game is anywhere as good as BFG is, I am on board whole heartedly.

The revulsion with clicks USUALLY comes from the prepainted crappy miniatures standpoint. These look like regular old resin figs with a different base, so no screaming there.
Hellfury is correct, the old epic titans had a dial for void shields, and in the case of alot of fast moving aircraft, what better way to speed up gameplay then to show speed and altitude on a dial base. This game looks to be turning out very well.

the bases are for the upcoming aeronautica imperialis air combat game. and the game rocks, i had a bit of a play at UKGD and had a look at the rules. very smooth, very well thought out. the base is just an easy way to keep track of two very important factors inthe game thrust value (for working out how far you move/what manuvres you can pull off) and altitude (you may only attack a/c on the same level as yourself or on higher/lower and the to hit roll varies depending the relative positions) i really need this game.

That does sound pretty cool. I look foreward to checking that out.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil |

Hey that reference to the old titans just got me thinking- when was Adeptus Titanicus released? I have the books but they're not here in my university pad. It had to be the very early nineties, so would that make GW the first clicky base people?

This sounds awesome. Does anyone know the details, like what races will be included? CK

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse. The person, who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Adeptus Titancius was actually released in 1988! Yowzers! I still have the original box and (most) of the miniatures that came with it...

Clicky bases or not, I'm really looking forward to see this game.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |
