Quick and easty... can Chaos use Drop pods also, can LatD use Drop pods? If so, where can I find rules for them?

Only if you're using the Forgeworld rules.

cannot correlate their innate inferiority with their inevitable
defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'

No. The rules are not the same.

The new Forgeworld 2006 update is rumored to revise dreadclaws rules so they work as loyalist drop pods...

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."

Well, I guess my first purchase from Forgeworld may just be a book then. Although it is hard not to order that beautiful bloodthirster and chaos spawn....

Confirmed - sort of. Dreadclaws now deploy as do SM Drop Pods. The big question is what happens once they do, because Dreadclaws retain the "Orbital Lander" and "Flyer" rules.

Would you really want to make them take off again anyways? I mean, if they come in on turn 3, and leave on turn 4, then it's touch and go as to whether they'll even make it back during the game. Might be amusing as a turn-6 drop to take table quarters if they remain scoring (if they're flyers/landers, does that mean they stay scoring?).

I would much rather keep them on the table as free LOS-blocking terrain, really. Half of the advantage of the drop pod army is the ability to wall away half your opponent's army. Taking off again would negate that.

Hmmm...Death Guard drop pod army...4x plas/melta havocs and dreadnoughts...

Funny, the same concept has been going around my local group as well. Waiting to see how the IA update looks before finalizing new Chaos armies.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
