Well after quite a few trial and error games, I want to share a list that has been pulling its weight rather well. The most odd thing found here, is the siege dreadnought. It is also the only thing carried by a drop pod in the list. Given that this is for Cities of Death scenarios, it has proved itself many times over. Having three dreads in the list to force opponents to choose makes all three more survivable, and punish opponents for ignoring them. It so formulaic, its almost boring, but its challenging so that helps keep me playing it. 1 Epistolary Librarian w/Force Weapon; Power Weapon (x1); Furious Charge Skill; Psychic Hood,Might of Heroes,Fury of the Ancients 3 Deathwing Terminators Command squad Assault Cannon (x2); FuriousCharge Skill Sergeant w/ Power Weapon (x1); Bolter-Flamer; Furious Charge Skill;Teleport Homer 4 Deathwing Terminators (Troops) Assault Cannon (x2);Tank Hunter Skill Sergeant w/ Power Weapon (x1); Bolter-Flamer; Tank Hunter Skill,Teleport Homer 4 Deathwing Terminators (Troops) Assault Cannon (x2);Tank Hunter Skill Sergeant w/ Power Weapon (x1); Bolter-Flamer; Tank Hunter Skill, Teleport Homer 4 Deathwing Terminators (Troops) Assault Cannon (x2); Sergeant w/ Power Weapon (x1); Bolter-Flamer, Teleport Homer 4 Deathwing Terminators (Troops) Assault Cannon (x2); Sergeant w/ Power Weapon (x1); Bolter-Flamer, Teleport Homer 1 Venerable Dreadnought Missile Launcher; TwinLascannon; Tank Hunter Skill 1 Dreadnought Missile Launcher; TwinLascannon 1 SiegeDreadnought , Drop Pod Models in Army: 29 Total Army Cost: 1999

its true, its a good power, I just face so many nearly fearless armies that fear of the dark is useless.
Otherwise, I would use it to death.

If you can spare the points, I recommend picking up at least one Cyclone Missle squad instead of Assault Cannons. ACs are nice, but Cyclones have their usefulness, particularly when it comes to making up for you mostly 24" firepower. More useful in standard games then CoD, though, I'll admit. You can probably get rid of a bolter flamer or two for the points.

In CoD, missle launchers of any type are worthless, and even more so if they replace an assault cannon. Long ranged shooting is rare in CoD, and more shots = more failed cover saves. I'd say the heavy flamer is a superior choice to the cyclone.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake;

When I play deathwing, I have three rules I use in creating a list. #1 Always employ as many terminators as possible, except when you need range. (this means you will normally see two dreads in my lists.) #2 Always use assault cannons on termintaors. (this rule is broken in specific situations where flamers are better) #3 Never, under any circumstances, ever ever ever utilize a cyclone missile launcher. (If range is needed, then I use dreads. Thats what theyre there for.) Seems to be working ok for me so far. For the record though, this is not to say that cyclones are bad. I have seen quite a few players use them to devastating effect. Not my style of play though. I use termies to close with the enemy, shooting all the while. Softening them up until the moment arises for me to crash into their lines and finish them off. Which is another reason why the combi-flamers work so well in the squads. The less I need to make saving throws due to someone having extra troops during an assault, the better. Attrition being my real enemy. Using cyclones in that way is a disservice to both my army, and the cyclone missile launcher itself. Improper use and all that. Missiles on dreadnoughtss on the other hand, now thats where theyre good. Well, better anyways... Though, I have been toying with the notion of making the list friendlier by dropping one assault cannon per squad and then adding a heavy flamer. Hmm... might need to try that out a few times.

BOLTER FLAMERS WTF????!?!?!?!??!?!?! TRIM THE FAT!!!! Those babies seriously aren't doin you any favors, and are 10 pts a piece to boot! And only one shot! Extra armor on dreads is good so that when they become stunned, they can still move to get behind cover for the turn they can't shoot back. EDIT: Actually, in 2000 pts, I just add to my 1850 list. With an extra 150 pts, you should be able to add in a cheapo master with lightning claws or something to add to your Libby's squad or to just have him wander around by himself. It could be good, it could be dumb, but man would it looks like fun, AND has the bonus of being an extra cool model to paint. Those 150 pts can't buy you a new squad or dreadnought, and upgrades upon upgrades are usually worthless. Adding the independent character gives you another potential unit to deploy, even if it aint scoring. Half the time they won't be able to shoot him anyway.

Ahem *whispers* Combiflamers are 5 points The flamers work pretty well actually. Granted, I dont always get to use them, but they do buy their points back on the whole. Though if I were to take them out, extra armour would be the first thing they would be replaced with. 150 points buys you a darn good dread. A ven with TLLC/ML @ 155 pts. Wouldnt you think a chaplain would be a better deal than a master, especially since we dont need to worry about leadership?

I sort of think that the power weapon is out of place seeing as the Force Weapon does the same thing. If you want it there but that may be some of the points for your extra armor.

True, a force weapon is better, but its the cheapest way to give a termie libby an extra attack.

I didn't realize the flamers were only five points....but I think the storm bolters do just fine for thinning out hordes, with the added advantage of being Assault instead of Rapid Fire.
I would say extra armor is definetely worth more then Combi-flamers.
And you can't buy another dread if you already have 3! Hence why I suggested a master, only because he comes out cheaper than the chaplain and isn't throwing points away with Lightning claws, but I guess it really comes down to preference.
But lightning claws always re-roll where the chaplain only re-rolls if he charges.
