hey everyone...just droppin' in to post another pic of an old mini...this was painted back in '03...wanted to go for a sea-foam colored hide, to reflect that these are sea dragon skins...as a big fan of fitz' sculpts, this mini painted itself...the green sheen in the metal doesn't show up in the pic...i'm still prayin' for photoshop...there always seem to be just too little or too much light...

thanks for lookin'

as this mini iwas one of the test minis in a series i'm callin' the $100 battlefield unit commander, i have to keep things fairly simple to make the painting time worth the paycheck...my basic skin formula is(i always prime w/ black) a base coat of bestial brown, then tanned flesh, 50/50 tanned flesh and elf flesh, pure elf flesh...if it is acually an elf i will then go up to 50/50 white and elf flesh...for the dead head, i went up to pure white so it looks like all the blood has drained away, and only painted the whites of the eyes so they look rolled back...
i have since moved to a slightly different approach to metals, with black in the boltgun, for more contrast...darker is always better than lighter(especially for minis to look good in fotos)...
