And speaking of naval games, Decision Games just released its new WW2 naval rules 'Battlestations! Battlestations!' (www.decisiongames.com).
It's 19 pages of rules and another 30+ pages of ship data. Very fast playing. I've only given them a quick look but they seem pretty good. It will be interesting to compare to VaS when it comes out. My guess is 'Battlestations!' a bit more detailed but perhaps has slightly less flavor and it is more traditional in that it uses a D20
and a D6
and not the 'bucket of dice' concept of VaS.
If all of that isn't enough Omega Games has two new board wargames 'Battleship' and 'Line of Battle' on WW2 and WW1 naval warfare respectively. http://www.omegagames.com/omega/do/home/home
And of course Avalon Hill/WizKids has their new collectible-mini naval game, Axis & Allies Naval Miniatures War at Sea
, with pre-painted ships coming soon.
Not sure why all the fast-play WW2 naval games all of a sudden but good news for those who enjoy naval combat.
