First, thanks for your comments, they're quite enligthening.
Second, even if they may be less than optimal, I will keep the assault terminators because even if
AC and
SB armed termis may have more of a punch when they drop,
IMHO striking last with only 2 attack sucks in close combat. Their purpose is to always drop, and go against sucky shooty footsloggers (ie : imperial guard platoons, sm las/
plas squads) to take fire away from my tanks and own footsloggers, which are the real treat in this army. usually, by the end of my second turn (if they drop this early) I have sucessfully shot down/incapacitated quite some threat sources, and if they waste a round of shooting on my termis with 1-2 las/
plas squads then my tanks will only be grateful and I'll hopefully be laughing
Plus I already have the models, and I like them a lot !!! (plastic termis are awesome !)
Third, the Vindicator is going. Even if I do like the instakilling F10 shot, its not worth 155 pts. I'm currently hesitating on taking a devastator squad with 4 missiles instead, or a predator anihilator with
HB sponsons (both scenarios would likely include putting las instead of missiles in my tactical squads). Another option would be a third squad of stormtroopers with a chimera.
What do you think ?
Fourth, thanks for the kudos on the landspeeders, but they are an easy choice to make. I've found out that even Leman Russes fall before them, as 2 multimeltas on landspeeders is dynamite. Plus, they tend to be overlooked by opponents, who prefer to shoot the predators. And
AC/
HB landspeeders cost a bucket of points, and then they are no longer overlooked by opponents
Fifth, I don't like chaplains. They remind me of blood angels and death company, and they have no other use than close combat. And they're not even THAT good at it (at least compared to what other races have to offer). Plus, adding 150 pts to the Assault termi squad without any added benefit than making them stronger in
cc (which is useless against small squads who already will be raped by the termis) is,
IMHO, a waste of points. Now, the librarian with his psychic power falls into another category, as he can be sacrificed to drop in the middle of the opponent's army and cause massive fear. And even then, he can make quite a few kills in
cc to boot ! Talk about versatility.
Last, for the trait I'll be taking "Never despair", as you never know when an additionnal turn will be crucial, especially in games with objectives.
thanks again !
