Hey all 1500 point word bearers list for C&C the aim is for a balaced force with a good mix of shooting(the marines and oblits) and CC, the deamons and the DP, with the infiltrating squad acting as a swing squad/skirmish screen. 1 Daemon Prince/ Dark Apostle; Bolt Pistol Accursed Crozius Mark of Chaos Undivided Daemonic Armour Daemonic Flight Daemonic Strength Spiky Bits 2 Obliterators 6 Word Bearers Plasma Gun; Lascannon; MOCU, icon 6 Word Bearers Plasma Gun; Lascannon; MOCU, icon 6 Word Bearers Plasma Gun; Heavy Bolter; MOCU, icon 1 Aspiring Champion with Powerfist 7 Word Bearers Meltagun, Plasma Gun MOCU, infiltrate, icon 1 Aspiring Champion, Power Weapon BP Daemonic Mutation Daemonic Strength 8 Bloodletters 8 Furies 8 Furies Defiler, Battle Cannon; Heavy Flamer; Reaper AC, indirect fire Between the three CSM squads, the obliterators and the defiler i should have a decent firebase, hopefully enough to "fix" the enemy army in place, giving me time to manouver the deamons and tear things apart. The bloddletters will go for any tough units, their power weapons etc will go through terminators and the like very quickly, killing any specalist assault units that might cause problems for me Furies will be able to take apart other softer units or smaller tough units, 3 s5 I5 attacks each go through most units particually none MEQ's, the added mobility of deamonic flight means that i can bypass any screening units and get directly to the heart of things. Though they are a bit of a glass hammer, i feel the mobility they have makes them more worthwhile in the list than demonettes which would be the obvious alternative choice. Plus my Deamon prince can join in on the fun aswell, as can the infiltrating squad, with the heavy bolter squads powerfist acting as a safety net for my firebase in the event of anything unexpected. I know the defiler will be very vunerable as my only tank, hopefully i can hide him behind some terrain hull down to cut down on the number of shots he takes, that and DP should help him stay in one piece. That said his role is primarily as a firemagnet, so i'm not to worried about him being blow up. Anyway comments and criticism welcome

Hey ml2sjw, Nice list. I actually have little to add. If I where to tune this list, I'd get Infiltrate on all CSM squads. I'd lose one CSM squad alltogether (the last). and take two 6 man Daemonettes squads in place of it. Maybe something like this: 166 - Lord, Stat, Flight, Essence, Resilience, Accursed Crozius, CCW, MoCU 140 - 2 Obliterators 133 - 6 CSM, Las/Plas, Infiltrate, MoCU, Icon 133 - 6 CSM, Las/Plas, Infiltrate, MoCU, Icon 208 - 8 Bloodletters 90 - 6 Daemonettes 90 - 6 Daemonettes 120 - 8 Furies 120 - 8 Furies 125 - 3 Bikers, 2 Melta, MoCU, Icon 175 - Defiler, Indirect 55 models, 10 scoring units Anyway, good luck with your list. As I said: it looks good. If anything try to squeeze in infiltrate on all CSM squads, that will help you a lot. Cilithan out...

Well had my first game with the list since putting it all together(but far from my first chaos game) against a marine oppoent, went quite well ending up in a draw, defiler managed ok getting blown up eventually but only when he specifically tasked a couple of units to wiping it out, buying me time to kill more stuff as well as doing some damage with its battle cannon so i think he stays
hmm adding a couple of squads deamonettes is very tempting.. Though the list you put out their seemed a bit to light on "mortal" troops for my liking I'm not a huge fan of the way my reserve rolls go, deciding who wins and loses. i'd like a core of at least three squads which i know are always going to be there from the start, making cutting any units problematic
As for infiltrate on all the squads, well for my "firebase" units i don't think its really needed as they will be deploying in a refused flank 90% of the time together with the oblits and the defiler otherwise with infiltrate they might get spread out a bit to much. I am starting to think that my "commando" squad is a bit weak, it nearly got wiped out in this game quite quickly, in the event that it does get wiped out i'm in trouble...
Two main options i see are, either two small 5 man infiltrating squads to spread the fire power directed at them, or bikers. At the moment i could trade in the commandos and a guy from the heavy bolter squadfor 5 man bike squad with an aspiring champion with a power weapon and with some slight jigging about a couple of deamonic gifts. Think the switch is a good plan?

Hey ml2jsw, Adding Bikers would be a good idea I think, CSM squads is one too much. So I'd say yeas to the switch. Get Bikers one or two Meltas: you need the Anti-Tank power. My comment about Infiltrate wasn't for your firebase in the Deployment fase (although deploying last is fabulous for Las/Plas squads). It's mostly for when your Daemons arrive. Daemons are marvelous, but they have to start near an enemy unit so they can charge. Especially the Daemonettes are fragile to shooting, but I also lost Bloodletter squads to shooting because they had to walk a turn to get into combat; very sad... A good Daemonbomb list needs two things to overcome this problem. 1 A lot of Daemonsquads to even out bad scatters and bad luck on your Reserve roles. Personally I think 5 squads of Daemons is a minimum in 1500 points. (Unless you are planning to use the Daemons as countercharge; but I was talking about a Daemonbomb). 2 A way to get the Icons to a good summoning possition in the first turn. You having selected Furies overcomes this somewhat because a good summoning position for Furies is further away than it is for other Daemons. For Daemons as Daemonettes and Bloodletters you need Bikes or Infiltrators (preferably both) to get close for good summoning. My own 1500 points Daemonbomb list looks something like this: 1500 113 - Lord, Stature, Flight, 2CCW, Frag, MoCU, Pers Icon 125 - Lieut, Bike, Dark Blade, Melta, MoCU, Pers Icon 110 - 5 CSM, 2x Plas, Inf, MoCU, Icon 105 - 5 CSM, Las, Inf, MoCU, Icon 105 - 5 CSM, Las, Inf, MoCU, Icon. 208 - 8 Bloodletters 90 - 6 Daemonettes 90 - 6 Daemonettes 120 - 8 Furies 168 - 6 Mounted Daemonettes 115 - 3 Bikers, Melta, MoCU, Icon 150 - Defiler 1500 points - 55 models, 10 scoring units In a much used variant I switch the Defiler for two Obliterators. These lists have done quite well. I know yours will too. Keep playing Daemon lists to get used to them. A well played Daemonbomb is a pain for almost every opponent (perhaps Mech Tau and Mech Eldar being an exception). Good luck with your list, let us know how you're doing with it. Cilithan out...

After messing around a bit with a couple of test games for the moment I'm leaving the bikers out, But i'm making some minor charges to the "standard list". Main changes are 1) the recon squad losing its aspiring champion, fond though i am of the model, he's being retired to act as a commander in smaller games. This frees up a fair few points to spend. Which are being invested in 2) Upgrading The heavy bolter "tactical squad" to a 8 man havok squad with 4 heavy bolters, this seriously increases my AP firepower and frees up the oblits to concentrate on AT firepower in all but the most extreme cases. They are keeping their aspiring champion with powerfist for a bit of counter charge if things go really wrong Plus a few bits chopped and changed here an there to bring it up to 1500 exactly. At the moment this seems to be working ok, though i need to take on some more opponents with varied armies to be sure. The current mix of a shooty arm with a cutting deamon edge is for the moment working. Mobility is still an issue but in all but the most blitz type missions the deamons and recon squad work nicely, with my deamon prince acting as a swing squad Daemon Prince Dark Apostle; Bolt Pistol (x1); Frag Grenades 1 Mark of Chaos Undivided 1 Daemonic Armour 1 Daemonic Flight 1 Daemonic Strength 1 Accursed Crozius 2 Obliterators 6 Word Bearers, lascannon and plasma gun. 6 Word Bearers, lascannon and plasma gun. 8 Word Bearers Meltagun (x1); Plasma Gun (x1); Infiltrate 8 Bloodletters 8 Furies 8 Furies 8 Word Bearers Havocs Heavy Bolter (x4); Aspiring Champion has a powerfist 1 Defiler

Also you might take a look at the Daemon Icon. It's costly because you have to upgrade the squad that carries it (preferably infiltrating) to chosen, but it ensures that one daemon pack will always go exactly where you want it when you want it.

Bu t that is only when the chosen unit is exactly where i needs to be which is not always possible.... The whole reason for every unit in the army having the mark of chaos is to ensure that i have maximum felxiabilty to put my deamons where i want them, the icon is a bit of an eggs in one basket piece for me if the chosen end up in the wrong place then i am in real trouble

Other thing I'm planning to mess around with is swapping the bloodletters out for three units of five deamonettes or some combination there of. For general play against meqs i;m thinking its a weaker option, but against wraithlord heavy eldar, Nid Godzilla lists and other fun and games i'm thinking it might be worth it. I would miss my bloodletters though.........
