That thing is looking awesome. Decapitated Wraithlord, excellent!

And no you can't have a squad of wraithlords, each wraithlord takes up a Heavy Support slot, so you can have have multiples.

only a mini update - most of the grey blocked in on the wraithlord - still have the back and missile launchers to do, but that won't take too long. Also second heavy weapons guardian under way too.
Only three more days of term left, and then the plan is to get some quality painting done before I go away, and then more painting when I get back... must buy Games Day ticket!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
after seeing the glaring gaps in my painting ability from the shots, just done some retouching, and blocked in the grey on the 'lord's back.
Note to self: don't try and do any steady freehanding when you're knackered. The wobbly lines that are produced only make more work as they need to be corrected!

Progress:
I've given the 'lord and the 'Walker washes of black, and then tidied up those spots where I wasn't too careful and the black wash went on some yellow areas. Now started to do the red highlighting, starting with the legs.

Second heavy weapons Guardian also done, so it'll be on with the rest of the squad soon.

Finally, a shot of the growing Team Eldar : )

thank you as ever guys

@Coyote - the Farseer is going to be going in for 40k Single miniature, and the Wraithseer is going in for 40k Vehicle (I thought it was the Monster category, but apparently he's a vehicle...).

My plan to keep the 'lord and the 'Walker at the same stages lasted longer than I thought it would lol However, I pushed ahead with the WraithWalker and he's done. Not too bad, if I do say so myself, but I think he suffers in the same way that the Autarch does/did in that there isn't any of the bone on him. Not that that matters too much, but it's something to bear in mind for the future.

I'm bound to notice something I've missed once I see the shots...

So, onwards and upwards - the 'lord to finish off, and I have another guardian and another ranger to finish off. Really need to grit my teeth and finish the Death Jester too.

Second Wraithlord finished, although I lost the plot a little towards the end and rushed him. If I have the time and the will I might go back and finish him off some more...
He looks okay, but definitely works better next to the 'Walker.
Onwards and upwards!

Beautifully done, though it may need a bit of a spot color, a la the sword on the other lord.

Fantastic, as always

I was wondering whether to put a strip down the centre of the head, but was afraid it'd add another visual element to the craftworld scheme... I agree the heads need something though

Yeah, a stripe may not be subtle enough. I'm sure you've seen the faces some people do, but that's pretty far out of your design scheme, so maybe not. Perhaps just a geometric pattern, like a spiral or something. If you blended it in, and it was subtle enough, you could probably get away with it.

I wasn't thinking subtle stripe, more like a honkin' big block of black/yellow respectively... it's either that or the craftworld icon

That's some great painting how are you doing the blending?

However It looks a bit clean for something that is a war host, with the black kinda showing up the crispness of those big space of brightness, though it's sure a billion times better than what I can do.

Craftworld icon could work rather well, actually. I think that has my vote.

That'll teach me to be lazy. That job would have been so much easier before I stuck the heads on!

Stripe on the 'lord because I couldn't really get to the right hand side because of his raised arm, and it was tricky enough doing the icon on the 'Walker. They're just roughed in at the moment - highlighting, cleanup and retouching to do tomorrow (including the bloody sword!)

Yeah finnan that looks heaps better! (not that they were ever bad though) it just gives them that little bit of pizazz, I really like the one with the craftworld symbol it just makes it in my eyes *flutters eyelashes* (not seductively!) :-)

wear it with pride my friend, wear it with pride!

@Nemesor - sorry, I kinda forgot to answer your question. Blending: thin down the paint A LOT, and then lots and lots and lots of thin layers, building up to the bright yellow. It's on an orange basecoat, so it doesn't take too much work to get up to the solid yellow. Same for the red over the black - lots of thin layers (it's actually a lot quicker to do the red than it is the yellow)

Not too much difference from the last shots, but tidy versions of the Wraithlord and WraithWalker, heads complete and mistakes gotten rid of!
Also next on the workbench: Harlequin Troupe Master. Not too much done so far as I only started him yesterday. Yes, more yellow, but I thought it'd be a nice nod to the craftworld colours as the Troupe is fighting with them. I aimed for some diamonds on his coat, but totally failed even getting them drawn out neatly, so I guess I'm not ready for them yet!
I'm off on holiday tomorrow, so a bit of a painting break, but more when I get back (hopefully bronzed!)

Finnan, nicely done as usual! if you got a colour stick to it I say! I now paint waaayyy to much red but I enjoy the look so I keep painting! the troupe master looks good so far and having the 'splash' of yellow will tie him in without obviously being from the craftworld imo, it's your execution of the darker colours that amazes me, the blending with the blues and dark reds are so lovely and refreshing from the normally seen painting styles, keep it up!

I've said it before, but It must be said again, your blending on the orange is perfect. Can't wait to see what you can do with the harlequin, I'm certain you will do it justice, It's looking stunning already.

Any chance of an in depth written tutorial as to how you blend on your miniatures. If you say you use an airbrush I will find you and kill you, just like the last ten people who said that, as I cannot ship propellant cuz its explosive
