Doctrines: Veterans Drop Troops Everyone has Drop Troops Troops: Infantry Platoon Cmd Squad 2x Infantry Squads w/flamer Elites: 3x Hardened Vets w/3x Plasma I've had success against my friend and his Tau patrol, and I really like the feel of it. I'm just wondering how you guys think it'll do in general and what advice y'all have.

Looks like fun. Too bad you can't squeeze in a couple of more flamers in the cmd squad. That much plasma in CP has to be a little over the top!

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil |

Personally I'm a big fan of Chimeras in CP. It's the only thing over AV11 you can bring, and it puts out some good antiinfantry fire.
But dropping 3x3 plas does sound dirty...I like it.

combat patrol doesn't normally have the Deep Strike special rule, so make sure to get opponents permission to use the deep strike rules. Other then that it's a sound list: plasma to deal with heavy infantry and vehicles, flamers for light infantry.

Damn, I totally forgot that there's no DSing in CP. Hopefully I won't find anybody who objects, because this list kinda blows without it. I agree with the chimera thing in general, but it just gets popped too easy by my buddy's Tau. Since he's the only guy I'm playing against at the moment (nobody else on campus plays 40k and my other 40k friends all went to different colleges) I needed a highly mobile list without using chimeras, so I opted for drop troops. Thanks for the input, all.

The trouble you're having is from you inability to effectively block my JSJ troops,I'd try some light infantry/infiltrators combined two chimeras if it can all be fit in, getting another tank will help dilute my anti-tank ability and allow you to play a little more aggressively with them both.
All in all, this matchup hinges on good deployment on your part, if I can't get the proper positioning, I have to take risks, and I can't afford many casualties. Once I start losing men, it get pretty bad for me.
My list is
4 Stealths with targeting array - 160pts 2 XV8 Missile pod, burst cannon, multitracker, one with target lock - 105pts 1 XV8 twin-linked burst cannon, airbursting fragmentation projector, multitracker - 72pts 6 Firewarriors - 60pts 397pts
I can also drop the Warriors and the target lock for Kroot, depending on my opponent.
