thanks mate for the dictionary spoiler! i need to print that out and have it beside me to read your piece anew...or in the terms of Asemic writing... no need to as it already did have a very specific effect... a very subjective effect and this is truly then also an aim of your piece...as i said before... the rhythym of your story was the main acting ingredient of the story... the story as such only the means to transfer the emotion the lingo created...

also i just love your way of letting us know what influenced your works... the painting of odysseus... lovley! and after seeing

 all existing problems disolved^^

									Aye up dakka.

@Rogue wolves , cheers matey , It wrote itself tbh. I am a bit of Mythology thief, but i actually didn't realize it was from the odyssey as i haven't read it fully , cheers

@Monkey Thank you monkey , great compliment coming from a bibliophile like yourself I had heard of Finnegan's wake but hadn't realized what it was until now, thanks for illuminating me . There are some similarities with regards to the flow and rhythm of the wording , pretty chuffed with myself now although seventeen years on one book is a little much for me.
  Have you read it ?

@Vik your welcome for the spoiler, I will probably do more Asemic stuff after christmas , it was always my intention of writing the Actaeon story with an asemic vibe of him decending into madness actually . I use a markov chains text editor to acheive random wording sometimes . like in this poem i made a few months ago

  Light world

Dusk like morning, cajoles the bright white light from luminous clouds,
Bathing our lidless eyes with pain.

Translucent skin offers no remit from the burning beam , only hand over hand to face can scarcely
  dim the solar din,

restless we wander looking for shelter not found ,
sisters skin blisters more than mine.

Bursting forth from an imperceptible cavern , our savior holds forth a thing,

Cold and black emits its light , and how we bask in the divine atramentous glow.

anyhow i made something yesterday , its based upon a John Blanche painting from the emperors will.

									hmmm... nice poem there mate!

it was a strange sensation when i first learned at school about dadaism and such things... i was not mature enough to cherish it back then... times have truly changed...thanks for that mate!

the new piece...wow...the thing between you and baiyuan...you more often don´t havve the time to show the WIP phase... you just go for thr throat...and show us the finished product... he teases^^ i like how close you work to an actual picture refference... what is the main bilk made from? LR tank parts?

anyway... i wish you and your loved ones a peaceful time...i am doing so in the knowledge you earned it! period!

  cheers, vik

Its a priest on a pole! Reminds me of something I read about religious maniacs (anchorites?) living at the top of columns - kept alive by pilgrims winching food and water up to them via a pully system. Anyway it looks really cool - you are getting really pro at this kind of thing - bringing the 2D into 3D life

									Everyone needs a priest-on-a-stick.

 Excellent work again neil

Have to agree with weety, your pic-based pieces are really inspirational mate, keep it up.

edit: To be honest, I've never managed to get past about page 60 or so neil When I'm in reading mode I read voraciously - walking about with a book open, at lunch, waiting for my lift, waiting for the kettle to boil etc.
Which is fine most of the time, but for me Finnegan's Wake tends to fall in with stuff like Homer, Milton and Plato - can't be read like that, requires a nice quiet time to sink into, and I've not got round to picking it up at one of those times

Wow you've gone from strength to strength. Absoultely wonderful work and deeply inspiring. And, I think the way you take photographs of your miniatures is so evocative. It's like we're a part of the scene, snapping shots where we can; you have a wonderful eye, and your work it is incredibly distinctive because of it.

Hello dakka , Just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and hope that Christmas went well for you all.
thank you for all the the support as usual , I haven't been too productive of late, had some heavy stuff to deal with.. But its a new year and a fresh start for me

So I am pretty excited about lots of projects , just trying to recover my energy after crimbo, Really want to get on with the Lilitu/escher coven and to that end i have been working on a Sslyth conversion, just blu tac for now, and would quite like to work on there mortal enemies the Heraklees - Goliaths and their sump barge the Arga. havent done too much painting , about half way through the priest on stick , using a different paint scheme for me. working well for now

@Vik Thanks mate , the priest on a stick is an inquisitorial acolyte of coarteaz and the box is made from manifactorum parts ..what else i only learned about dadaism a few years ago , i still don't appreciate it that much

@baiyuan Cheers man, its so grim dark i couldn't keep my mits of it.

@Cheers mate, painting it up now , and in my head your words are rattling around , must add more damage .. thanks for that

@Tortured-robot thank you kind sir man after my own heart.

@Hey weets love the idea of those anchorites http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anchorite thanks for the heads up , quite an inspiring idea that.

@monkey Thanks mate, i really like trying to turn the 2d into 3d , and there is so much great 40k artwork to do it with . I dont know what it is with me but i haven't finished a book in years , i just cant zone out very well , i need total quite and peace to read . and when i have that i tend to create Maybe ii should re read my Fighting fantasy stuff

@ monkey and weety " All NEw Priest-Ona-Stick comes in many delicious flavours. Will you choose Raspberry Repentia, Battle-hymn Blueberry or Chocolate Cardinal?

 Chocolate cardinal please

@Commader cain qoute " You have to be one of the most creative minds on Dakka!" you forgot EVIL muhahhahaha

@Rogue Thanks mate. I am really enjoying painting it , I changed the colour scheme to something less gothic and more beuracratic.

@DST qoute "To be fair, almost all mythology of today even are recycled Iliad and Odessy themes. Star Wars is a very popular example of this." Yeh the godfather of the mono myth Joseph Campbell stayed with Lucas for a while i believe . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monomyth and monomyth is taken from Finnegan's wake .. its a small world .

@LilLooser Hey mate , hows stuff ? thanks for the kind words, You own work is very inspiring to myself tbh, I do love to get down amongst them . its a shame my paintwork doesn't always stand up top the macro lenses

Not Clash of the Titans? I can't recall a snake-woman in the Sinbad films. Then again, there's no way I've seen every Sinbad film ever made

									Ray Harryhausen
:facepalm... new that i din´t totally lost his name to lack of memory!

that was a good catch there^^

didn´t knew achillos, but i bet i have seen his work before, without knowing the artist however.,..

and yet again dakka has provided education^^ Automatically Appended Next Post: thanks neil! saw some making of and it was really nice stuff... shame they don´t use stop motion these days anymore... all that CGI stuff feels sometimes like cheating... Automatically Appended Next Post: well except with wallece and greomit or shawn the sheep^^

Ah, yes, Jason and the Argonauts, then Clash of the Titans, medusa, cyclops, and other nasty beasts the old stop motion movies were what were done long before the advent of CGI, but the purpose was the same, bringing to life that which they could not make real.

Of course in a different kind of world, they would likely be contracted for movie parts where such were needed.,
