Just looking for ideas /feedback on the best options to take in gaurdian defender squads as far as platform weapons.  Points vs. effectiveness and number of shots.

Personally, I think the scatter laser is the best option. Reasonably cheap, long range, lots of mid strength shots. What's not to like?

I can see a Shuriken Cannon with them if they are deploying out of a Wave Serpent, but Serpents are really too expensive to be used for Guardian squads that aren't geared for CC.

Everything else... I dunno. Unless the Guardians are guided, I don't see a point to the other weapons so much. One shot or 2, and with BS3 they're missing too often for me. Especially with what they are paying for the weapons.

I could possibly see a Brightlance only because you might need more anti-tank and all your heavy choices are filled. But again, that's one shot at BS3...

The squad itself costs so much that I don't see a point in trying to save a few points so basically I would say if your taking guardians take any weapon you like / your army needs and don't think too much about saving a few points.

I don't really see people taking too many guardians for the platforms anymore though.

I think a reasonable arguement can be made for every weapon they can field.

Gaurdians, are cheap for what they do, which is essentially become wounds for a Heavy Weapon. The fact that they can take their own cover into the game makes them a lot more resiliant. I look at them, like I do IG squads. Compare the Star Cannon in a Gaurdian squad to your typical Infantry Platoon with Las.-Plas. They are almost comparable at range versus MEQs. The only downside is against tanks, but IG can't field Fire Dragons.

Anyways, I think they are still worth fielding. Like anything else in the Eldar codex, it depends on what you run them with.

Current Armies: Blood Angels, Imperial Guard (40k), Skorne, Retribution (Warmachine), Vampire Counts (Fantasy)
