Hi All

After cogitating on the new Eldar codex all weekend I couldn't resist returning to Dakka after a long absence. I know there's been a few lists posted already but here's my first cut at a 2000 point take-all-comers list:

HQ:

Farseer, guide, doom:       100

Elite

10 Harlequins, all kisses, shadowseer:        250

6 Dragons:     96

6 Dragons:     96

Troops

3 Guardian jetbikes, shuriken cannon:     76

3 Guardian jetbikes, shuriken cannon:     76

9 Pathfinders:     216

Fast attack

10 Swooping hawks, exarch, sunrifle, skyleap, intercept:     247

10 Warp spiders, exarch, second death spinner, power blades, suprise assault, withdraw:     272

Heavy support

3 war walkers, 6 scatter lasers:    180

Falcon, scatter laser, shuriken cannon, holo-fields, vectored engines:     195

Falcon, scatter laser, shuriken cannon, holo-fields, vectored engines:     195

Total: 1999,  61 models, 2 tanks

General tactics is for the farseer, war walkers and pathfinders to hang back and shoot. Falcons (with dragon cargo) move up the table. Hawks and spiders deepstrike in support of the falcons/dragons. Jetbikes either move up with the falcons or hang back for a last turn objective grab. Harlequins either move up to clean up after the dragons and deepstrikers or hang back to defend (counter assault) an objective depending on the mission.

So, what do you think?

I don't like the pathfinders or swooping cawks.

Otherwise, looks good. I'd try to put runes of warding on your farseer, they just rule. Maybe get him fortune too.

What don't you like about the pathfinders and hawks? What do you think should be in their place?

I thinking that rather than pimping up the one farseer maybe I should go with two - one to guide the walkers/pathfinders, one to follow the Harliquins with fortune/doom

The hawks are 4+ save guys with no defense really other than being fast. I'd take warp spiders over them any day, or even shining spears.

Take surprise assault off your spiders as no real reason to ever use it, and don't see any need to give him a second warp spinner either. Then you can replace the hawks with more spiders.

Heck I don't know. Your list will do fine, two units of snakes on planes and nothing really egregious. I'm not saying it sucks just, a lot of suboptimal things.

Do whatever you have to do to split the pathfinders into two squads of 5 or 6.

As your Falcons will be pulling double duty (gunship and transport), I'd look at a way of getting Spirit Stones for them. This will help ensure they can always move and at least be able to get your Dragons to where they need to be. You could find the points by dropping a few Kisses from the Harlequins as I'd expect you to lose a couple before they get into assault; might as well be the cheapest Harlequins that get shot.

The list looks versatile. With the best anti armor weapons as Dragons, I like how they have been kept relatively inexpensive. You've got plenty to deal with Armor 12 and less, but you've also found ways to deal with higher armor w/ Dragons and Hawks, although the Hawks seem a bit expensive.

Good luck.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Hmm, I could go with 2 units of spiders but I quite like the idea of jumping of the board then re-deepstriking onto an objective on the final turn.
I would have thought being able to deepstike the spiders with suprise assault every game would be highly useful?

If I go for the two farseers then I'll have to drop some points of something - couple of pathfinders would probably go, that would make some room for spiritstones as well. I don't want to leave the walkers too lonely at the back though
