Been Around the Block




 This is by no means intended to replace my Guard army, but I have admired the Inquisitor and Grey Knights background material and miniatures for a long time, and wanted to include them in a force with my Guard.  The army is anchored by my original Guard gunline with two Las/Plas and two Auto/Plas squads.  I have included a pair of Inquisitorial Stormtrooper squads as mandatory Troops choices, one of which is accompanied by an Inquisitor with the Scourging power. This Inquisitor are is there because I think it makes the force more characterful (Fluffy, I know).

The assault element of the force is a Command HQ of Grey Knight Terminators, and two GK teleport squads. I have also included my Guard Rough Riders because I converted and really enjoy using these models.  I'm not expecting that I'd win a lot of games with this army, but I think it would definitely be fun to paint and play.  The aim is for character.  However please give feedback on this force and how I could improve it.

The Hammer

1) Give your Inquisitor the Emperor's Tarot and a Psycannon over the Scourging. Then he can hide behind infantry.

2) Plasma on all ISTs, Psycannon on all GKs in power armour. This lets you play the shooting game against more dedicated assault armies.

3) I'd also reccomend trying to scare up the points to get lascannon in all your infantry since you are 1500.

Thanks for your advice as always, Wight. And thank you for pulling me up on one important point, that I don't NEED a psychic power on an Inquisitor just because I can take one.  The Psycannon would be a much better choice I agree.

I probably should have mentioned as well that with this first forray into the world of the Inquisition I'm aiming for financial economy to begin with, hence Meltas on one IS squad where I'd prefer Plasma, and Incinerators on one GK squad where I'd prefer Psycannons.  Long term I definitely intend to replace those weapons, but in the short term I'm okay with losing some battlefield effectiveness to save some cash and avoid having troopers left over. The same goes for increasing the Lascannons, which will be added as my Guard expands.  It'll happen... just not in a supreme hurry
