With the arrival of the new codex its time to dust off my Eldar and see what can be done with them. I really like the new Prism rules and the Serpent of Fury tickles my fancy as I am a FoF lover, and this is like a FoF on steroids. I hate static units, I find them utterly boring to play with, so its a mech list for me. And by the gods Eldar can be fast if one wants it to be, makes my Tau look like it needs a walking stick.
So here is my list:

===HQ===
-Autarch @120pts: Bike, laser lance.
-Farseer @160pts: Bike, SS, Doom, Guide, Runes of Witnessing.

===ELITE===
-6 Fire Dragons @96pts:-.

===TROOPS===

-10 Avengers @147pts: Exarch w/ bladestorm. Waveserpent @160pts: t-l scatter laser, star engines, SS, vector engines.
-10 Avengers @152pts: Exarch w/ twin shuricat, bladestorm. Waveserpent @160pts: t-l scatter laser, star engines, SS, vector engines.

===HS===
-Prism @160pts: holo, SS.
-Prism @160pts: holo, SS.
-Falcon @185pts: starcannon, holo, SS.

Total: 1500pts.

The idea is fairly simple really.
-The Autarch allows me to keep my entire list in reserve if I can't hide all my tanks behind terrain, losing the first turn with one's skimmers out in the open is not good. Also in Escalation he'll help my army to come on at the same time rather than piecemeal over 3 turns. And with 5 S6 pw attacks he's a nice IC hunter, excellent against min SM commanders, Tau Crisis suits, etc.
-The Farseer hides behind his IC status and provides Doom and Guide support for the army. Doom plus a double SoF will kill a 10 man marine squad with ease and guide on the Falcon means 3 AP2 hits per turn, wonderful for frying all sort of tough targets.
-The Fire Dragon ride in the Falcon, adding even more low AP firepower. This will be useful against AV13+ targets and high T and/or multi wound MCs. They also give me another badly needed scoring unit.
-The twin Da units are obvious, anti infantry firepower. They can take on any infantry except 2+ saves, and even then... Coupled with Doom they are a force to be reckoned with.
-The Waveserpents transport the DAs and the Scatterlasers provide much needed anti-light vehicle firepower. Apart form them only the falcon is any good at taking down light vehicles, especially skimmers.
-The twin Prisms do what they do best, fry anything and everything. There is no target they cannot turn into dust with one turn's shooting.
-The Falcon has more or less already been described above. 2+ save, high T and light vehicle hunter while carry the Fire Dragons.

The weaknesses of this list are glaringly obvious. Extremely low model count and a very high percentage of non-scoring units. However I hope that the speed and resilience of this list will counter these drawbacks.

What say ye ?

The Autarch allows me to keep my entire list in reserve

Hmmm, where is this rule? I'd really like to be able to do this (it would mean an autarch in every list definitely) but I don't know of a rule that lets me do this.

Aside from that, it looks worth trying with, just a couple of comments:
-runes of witnessing actually increase your chances of a perils of the warp attack. Since the PoW wounds on a 2 and instakills the farseer, anything that increases the frequency doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
-I am in favor of vectored engines on all grav tanks. It cuts the chance of destruction in half for wave serpents, to one quarter on tanks with holofields.
-It looks like a mech Tau army with Eldar units--that is it looks like the focus is on disembarking & shooting, avoiding counterassault, then mounting up and repeating elsewhere. In doing a pure Tau thing with Eldar, you're overlooking the fact that Eldar have some of the best assault units in the game (and lack some of the specialized Tau units) so they don't have to be like Tau.

Oh dear, and 4th Ed has been around for so long and I never noticed that the Reserves rule no longer exists...bugger. Ah well, bonus for Escalation only in that case.

The WSs have vectored engines, the other don't simply because I do not have the pts for it. Should I discover that I don't need Star Engines, then I'll change their pts into VE.

You're right about RoW, I'll have to drop them.

You're so right... I guess I just put together what I enjoyed using and how I'm used to playing, and what came out was an Eldar Tau army...
Humm, that is something worth thinking about. Thanks for that...
I must admit that Howling Banshees and Harlies are rather nice, especially on a Doomed squad.

Ok, now that the Autarch isn't as good as I thought (why on earth did GW remove the Rserves rule and why didn't I notice that ?!?) I replaced him with another Farseer and thus managed to save some pts for vectored engines:

===HQ===

-Farseer @110pts: bike, guide.
-Farseer @105pts: Bike, Doom.

===ELITE===
-6 Fire Dragons @96pts:-.

===TROOPS===
-10 Avengers @152pts: Exarch w/ twin shuricat, bladestorm. Waveserpent @160pts: t-l scatter laser, star engines, SS, vector engines.
-10 Avengers @152pts: Exarch w/ twin shuricat, bladestorm. Waveserpent @160pts: t-l scatter laser, star engines, SS, vector engines.

===HS===
-Prism @180pts: holo, SS, vectored engines.
-Prism @180pts: holo, SS, vectored engines.
-Falcon @205pts: starcannon, holo, SS, vectored engines.

Total: 1500pts.

Granted it still plays like a fast, small and utterly potent Tau army, but until I think of something else I'd like to try that is how it will stay.

C&C ?

Reserves is still in the game; it's referred to in the Escalation rules, and appears further down the page. It's actually part of most of the other categories of missions (Battles, Raids, etc.). So, Reserves isn't out of the game.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

I meant the reserves rule whereby one can choose to keep certain units off the table and bring them in later, whether its infantry or anything else.
