Ok I know an Independent Character does not count as a scoring unit.  My question is, if an IC leads a command squad does that squad count as a scoring unit?  Please explain your answer and if at all possible a page number I can reference to show my buddy.  He says they don't count as scoring unit because an IC is in the squad.  Please let me know one way or the other:  Is a command squad a scoring unit?  Thanks.

The squad is scoring, the IC is not. Check the units with distinct parts section of the VP section.
