I'll be playing in a tournament and the missions will be the old RTT missions.

Any tactics or tips you've found with these missions? Or anyone  in particular? I've noticed that alot of the missions give you a +1 battle point for the General being alive at the end, so I'm thinking of keeping my general light on wargear and just keeping him in the back of the army....

I've noticed some of them use that weird 18 inch from the board edge triangular deployment zone....Cleanse 2 for example. I feel those zones help shooting armies out by really making you play the game long boardwise.

My army will be Blood angels if thats any help.

Thanks

Take drop pods and landspeeder tornadoes. I would definitely recommend a librarian also since you will need psyker defense.

oops sorry...forgot to add....

The primary armies in this tournament I will be facing are Tyranids, 3 Leman Russ Guard, another guard army, a couple Tau armies. Maybe 1 Eldar force, and lots of Chaos Marines. The top two players are the Nids and 3 Leman Russ.

It's very situational. The set up you describe can help you against the bugs as it gives you more space you can put between your army and the bugs IE: whittle them down through shooting.

While for the IG, he'll have more room to back up the 3 Russes and have a good amount of room to place troops.

I try not to focus on the bonus points until I'm fairly sure I'm going to win the game. Some look for holding terrain features, general alive, table quarters, most expensive unit still scoring etc... For myself, trying to accomplish all this and win the game is tough in the beginning. Focus on winning first.

Many of the missions have Infiltrate, but they generally end up being set up further than what the 4th edition calls for. This can benefit you somewhat, especially against some Chaos armies. Be wary during set up where you think infiltrators will go.

It's not difficult, but learn how the set up works for the corners. You'd be suprised how long some people can take figuring this out. If you already know, you can help your buddy out and spend more time on the game.

Good luck.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
