The Land of the Rising Sun

With only 5 painted figures more than last update I say goodbye to 2018. Maybe next year I'll be more efficient at dealing with the lead mountain....

Thanks Josh for the "encouragement"

Having a game 2 days ago helped me dusting a hundred figures and work on quite a few, but that are long ways from being finished.

Josh inspired me to go for one more miniature, and it turned into two. I had the mortificators on the back painted already so before calling it quits for the year, and due to a very inconvenient cold that left me trapped home I decided to pait a third one along with a Keeper of the Art that I got from a friend. The keeper was missing his "power radiators" so I ordered a set of Doc Ock arms to replace them.

Have a nice 2019 everyone!

I start 2019 building some Mantic enforcers. Let`s hope I don`t take until 2020 to finish them.

MUST HACK THAT GREY PILE....!!!!!!!

Enforcers halfway there. Once I'm done with the Pathfinders I'll just have 2 bikes and 5 Peacekeepers to paint, along with 5 more regular enforcers on sprue that one day I'll build.

PROGRESS FROM LAST PHOTO!

Blaine in Peacekeeper armor.

Pathfinder sergeant, she needs a bas (and her 4 friends)

Lt Roca with a bit of GS on the head to turn the open visor into a mask.

With this I just need 13 more painted Enforcers to call it done... and then buy more.

Some add-ons for my battlefield that could double as living statues for DnD or similar. Bones Caryatids painted bronze with a healthy verdigris wash. It gave me something to do between painting blocks. Nothing really special.

They are from the Mantic Terrain crate Starship scenery. Once I got some more pieces painted I will take a pic of the set.

I'm currently working on 3 buildings with a near future/sci-fi look for skirmish gaming. They started as wooden boxes from the dollar shop. Some add ones and textured paint later...

More to come soonish.

I was bored, my wife was away and I needed a bit of motivation to keep building terrain. It also helps to picture what I need to add to the building queue.

For regular 40K it might be too crowded. I have 2 more MDF buildings waiting construction, plus a score of fold-able papercraft containers. I might need some smaller area terrain pieces methinks.

In all a fun kit to work with, even if some pieces ended up being used as a makeshift barricade because the legs were too badly twisted.

The Land of the Rising Sun

Time to bring back this thread from the dead and post a few images. The last few months were kind of a wash on the number of miniatures but I built some terrain for our anual meeting at Nagoya. In 2019 we decided to scale down and play just 1000 pts but maybe it's for the best as the lower point level makes for a more relaxing atmosphere as the real reason we meet each year is to see fellow players we would barely see otherwise.

I played against Necrons (loss), Nids (tie), and Nurgle Demons (win) with a Stormtrooper/Assassin list. In all a great day.

Here is my table. Yes too crowded for some, but I feel it still needs more terrain, at the very least another big building.

1st game against Necrons.

An Eversor visits a bunch of necrons camping their home objective.

2nd game vs Nids.
After a first turn shot from a Vindicare blew up a Zoanthrope the field went strangely quiet.

Oh, they are all here.

Also the sneaky bugs dug underground and ate my units for lunch.

3rd game vs Nurgle.
This game was a bad match. We were playing a modified reserve mission where we only could have up to 1/3rd of our army on turn one. Rolling for reserves starting turn 2. My oponent was unlucky because I managed to drop all my units save one on the second turn. Including all 3 missing assassins. Nurgle units are tought but not enough to wade through all the plasma I hurled at them. It was a lucky victory rather than skill on my part.

Everybody arrives and suddenly the nurglings feel lonely.

End game.

Thanks to all my opponents and the rest of the usual crew for my yearly dose of fun!

Bringing this thread back from the dead so I motivate myself to chip away that pile of grey shame harder. It's not that I've been fighting the good fight since the last post but slower than I'd like.
Between my last post and today I've completed an Imperial Knight army composed by 3 big GW knights, and 4 alternate baby knights. Added a bunch of units to my Stormtroopers, and to my IG, returned to Battletech, and a few bits, and bobs more.

Today I bring you the latests pics. A Veteran IG KT.

Battletech Clanners and Inner Sphere.

God forbid me from sticking to just one project instead of jumpig all over the place. Looking forward to Ash Wastes.

The Land of the Rising Sun

Since May I managed to finish a fair number of minis. Maybe not as much as I bought, but that's the bane of us all methinks. The last two figures of 2022 were these Pegasus scout bikes from Wz 1st Ed. They'll end up probably being proxied as eldar jetbikes in my count as army if I can get a third one. One of the things that helped me painting more miniatures during 2022 were contrast paints. Truly a great time saver for painters like me whe.n combined with slapchop.

My New Year's resolution won't be to paint more. I think I did well last year but to take better pictures, and share them in Dakka.

I wish you dakkaites a fructiferous 2023!

Another 2022 mini. A freebie Squat from GW. Again heavy use of contrast paint.

The first set of finished figures for 2023 is a Liao lance of the Syn's Hussars. Second line troops of questionable skills, nonetheless the cammo pattern of dark green with jade green highlights made them easy to paint. I swear that it' take me more time to settle down on a paint scheme than to paint them.

The Orion is 3d printed, the rest are from the KS.

From the recent Japanese of Imperium some necrons. I'm experimenting on another Warden but my skills are not up to task for the fancy metalic paints I bought so I'll leave you with a regular tabletop job.

and a hormagaunt I got from GW for "free". Unfortunately Dakka's gallery barely shows the contrast between dark grey and glossy black. Maybe I need to invest in a proper light box.

Thanks tzurk, I glued the clear bases with a dab of clear epoxy, give it a try.
The vampires (that I need to finish) come from Archon, some promotional box for a game that might never see the light but it was pretty cheap.

My LCAF forces got some reinforcements, and we are up to two lances. Proudly painted in their Lyran Guards scheme. Half were painted years ago with regular colors, the other half is contrast. The Fafnir is 3d printed.

My space vampires also got finished, and are ready to eat something maybe in Stargrave, or OPR games.
