That's largely why I'm using the mesh to mark the pattern out. It's both a timesaver and neater than freehanding over an uneven area that size.

I did actually try that for this year, got as far as three characters and one troupe.

First coat down for the holofields. Just needs a bit of tidying up then I can start making the outlines:

Spent the best part of the past 3 months working through the Return to Hoth main box and expansions for Imperial Assault. (Yes I have actually finished something, for a change.)

Since mid July I've been mostly working through a small commission project for a friend - a PanO NeoTerra force which has also been my first experience with Infinity models. This project is now almost done and I've enjoyed painting these models so much I'm now considering starting a force myself once these and some more Imperial Assault units are done. That is as long as my mediocre painting ability isn't bringing down the quality of the models too much.

These two were the first models of the group completed. A Bolt Trooper and Aquila Guard:

After a long period of mostly painting up individual models I recently started up a smaller scale project for Shadow War games that I'm hoping to have completed before 8th drops. I've gone for a team of Sisters of Battle partly for some variety from my usual Harlequins and partly as an excuse to try out some conversions and work on some models I'd struggle to find reason to otherwise.

The whole team is based on the Sisters of Silence models with only minor conversions mainly for some of the weapons, Simulacrum and heads:



As things stand the assembled models form the starting core of campaign force along with a Seraphim spec-op ready to be called on when needed. So far they've been painted up in sections enough to be playable while I get the converted parts together.

These are looking wicked. Can't wait to see the Seraphim finished.

Started to get the first few heads put together over the last couple days. The heads themselves are made with the Silent Sister heads with the faces from Wood Elf Sisters of the Thorn in place of the masks, with the exception of the Flamer specialist. The hair was just made with green stuff:



I didn't worry about the texture of the hair too much while sculpting as it was easy enough to define with painting, the Superior's has come out best so far:

Wow. Stunning. These models look fantastic. I especially like the dark-skinned sister with the bolter. She came out really nice.

The next models in line are the Seraphim, a Heavy Bolter specialist and a Simulacrum bearer. Some Daemons of Slaanesh may also be making an appearance as I'm working on some new bases for them.

Had the Sisters in action in a practice match against Orks, standard 1000 point teams:













Managed to drive the greenskins off after downing 4 of them. The team's coming together nicely and should be ready for when we start a proper campaign.

Sisters are looking glorious bud, good start to their tabletop careers, those bases are looking fantastic as well, really eye catching.

The fifth member of the Kill Team, a Gunner with Heavy Bolter is done now:







The starting force for my Sororitas are all ready to go now. I'll get the next members painted up once a campaign is underway according to which ones are needed:



With these mostly done I've got some Harlequins back onto the painting table preparing for more 8th ed games, starting with the second unit of Skyweavers:

The Sisters are amazing bud, truly stunning work. The bikes look awesome as always, such brilliant work, so inspiring.
