These are the very old Plaguebearers, I think from round 1991?

I think I paid maybe 60 pounds total for 50 of em (including 2 command squads). It did take a long time of ebay watching, especially for the command squads.

Did you try superglue or water effects for the ooze??

You could also varnish the intestines and such. that would make them stand out.

Great work by the way. never thought to use white for a base for nurgle deamons.

Also received some wings in the mail, not trying out one of my planned conversions. I didn't like the plastic Plague Drone model (and it's plastic!!) so I decided on something different:

Plague Cavalry!

The parts list:

* Dark Pegasus Wings

I'm going to mount it on a fllying stand to get it high enough. That said, does anyone roughly know how tall the Plague Drones are?

Disaster strikes!

I bought some wings for my daemon princes and a pair for my Plague Drone conversion above.

Since it worked so well I wanted to order more, but GW doesn't stock the metal dark elf pegasus wings anymore (in fact it disappeared from the European site).

So I had to find replacements.

Thankfully, Reaper Miniatures has a vast selection of metal wings. But now the wait begins.

Since I'm still waiting on the rest of my wings I'll just paint up one as a champion (still had one of the metal plaguebearer champions left) in the meantime as a test. Still need to figure out how high I need to make him to compare to the plastic Plague Drones, though.

Well, forgot to post a tally since I was on vacation, so paint score for the last 2 months:

In a non-painting update, I installed some new lighting in my game room today:

Instead of the tiny tiny single lightbulb before. Now we won't have to use nightfighting every game in the evening!

Probably need some lighting from the sides to remove the rest of the shadows though.

Top-down wasn't too good because the green gaming mat distorts the colours for my poor camera:

Still working on the last 3 beasts of Nurgle, but my brother finished his Fellblade.

We're planning a big Apocalypse battle this afternoon to celebrate!

The forgeworld version does look sleeker and more 'tank'-like. The Machinator + Baneblade version is very baroque.

Well, the battle was fought:

4.500 pts of Sisters with 1500 pts of IG allies. Managed to lose despite the 9 penitent engines, 20 repentia and 2 battle conclaves of crusaders/death cult assassins. 3 squads of dominions failed to destroy my brother's Fellblade..

Anyways, back to the scheduled program. Some stuff arrived (skulls, skulltakers):

As my 4th herald on bloodcrusher I wanted something different. I cut out most of Skulltaker's cloak, bent the legs so they were further apart then remade the cloak greenstuff/skulls. Unfortunately the skulls are a bit bigger than I had thought, so I had to cover the entire cloak with them. Filled the gaps with some sand.

Not entirely satisfied with the result, though.

For Skulltaker I worked on the cloak first:

The new cloak is a bit bulkier, but a lot roomier. Skulltaker can fit his legs to the side of the Juggernaut now. His knees butt against the juggernaut's shoulders. Hopefully I can glue him firmly into place.

Thin Layer Ushabti Bone
Wash Seraphim Sephia (thinned a few light coats over the bone).

White skulls:
Base Rakarth Flesh
Wash Nuln Oil
Lots of drybrushing white
Metal for the metal hooks

After a weekend of gaming, on to the painting!

Worked on Scylla first:

Not sure how to buff him up, I thought of giving the scales a completely different colour, but in the end decided against it. Tried to high-light the edges with bright orange but the effect isn't quite what I wanted. It needs some sort of spot colour, but what?

Also trying a nurgling base (more WIP than Scylla)

These guys are so full of character, but hard to paint (and see) the tiny details for me. The camera helps!

Had some random resin scenery bits left from one of those GW basing kits and a metal daemon gateway thingy I picked up somewhere. Some sand to cover the edges and voila.

A lot of shrinkage and the edges dry slow (thanks to the tape). Well it's an experiment after all.. Just going to leave it in the display cabinet for a week I guess.

Since my wings for my Plague Drones haven't arrived still, on to some random stuff:

2 Daemon Princes. Going to paint them in a somewhat neutral scheme so they can serve as both Tzeentch/Slaanesh ones if needed. They are pretty big but not as big as my Khorne/Nurgle ones.

Random Herald, not sure what God he will be.

Dechala the Denied One, aka Herald of Slaanesh stand-in.

Last 3 need more greenstuffing, but I should get that done today.
