Little more progress. Dark angels green sections based, and begining to base coat black sections. Lots of fiddly bits so my least favorite section. Not much time to get stuff done as it was deadlift day at gym, but getting there.

Little incidental pic from first army. Flesh tearer sternguard. The infantry in that army mostly done aside from a highlight on black on some models. Will post more some time

Captain, libarian, and honour guard. Honour guard where my first major conversion project, with shoulder pads and robes sculpted in milliput.
I use gold for fleshtearer vets, which explains the gold bling look.
Forgive the undrilled meltaguns, it was after all done years ago before i took a break from warhammer.
Will put up pics of the jump pack section of my list on next few posts. Will put up mech infantry sections later, as i never finished these.

4 assualt squads. You can really see improvement in my painting in these. Last unit has a much better and deeper red. All unit markings on knee pads. Blue facial tattoos show the tribal side to flesh tearers in original fluff, when they where basically vampire cavemen. Much better than the new 'emo' vamp lore.

Couldnt be bothered painting so did some converting instead. Plan on making 3 to 4 squads of human miners (van saar models, which proxy normal guard squads). I got some victorua lamb heads, to make some females. Worked quite well, female warrior without ridiculous super space boobs and heels. She reminds me of that latino woman in aliens 2.
Not sure wether ill bother adding hair yet. Looks quite good as is.

Still not painting, but making up the last few squats for my shotgun squads instead. I know powerfists are evidently crap in 8th, but they look good. Not sure what ill put on the other sergant. Hes in a flamer squad, so will be in combat. Maybe a powermaul?

Good eye, Sir. It is indeed a 3do. It's the jewel of my collection, complete with Road Rash and Cannon Fodder.

I remember the 3do version of road rash being well regarded. Seem to remember it only having a handful of games though. It was so dear im not suprised it flopped at the time.

More flash tearer stuff. Converted stern guard and a sanguinary priest on foot. Sternguard have converted shoulder wings, added trophy heads, and facial tattoos. Was trying to get across savage caveman vibe.

It cost a small mortgage back in the 90's, but I found this little beauty in a charity shop for a tenner, plus games. Had to pay £25 for a controller, but well worth the ten minutes of nostalgia before the pixelated graphics gave me a headache!

Thank you Sir!
Back on topic for your blog, Urusei. The Squats are looking great, and those Flesh Tearers look escpecilly crisp. Great stuff.
Any Squat inspired vehicles coming?

I plan on using these to modify some chimeras. http://www.modelsandminis.com/Wheeled_Chimera_Conversion_Kit/p2965327_16967486.aspx
Ill take the same approach to modifying some taurox for my squat/scions.
I never get round to painting tanks. My flesh tearer infantry are essentially done, aside from my terminators, but none of my vehicles are painted. Its a very different form of painting, and ive never been too intrested in it admittedly
I decided not to use drills or anything like other people have. Squats use imperial tech, so i dont feel they should have different vehicles from other factions.

Sounds like a plan Chief. You don't see many Taurox' on here, so that will be great to see.
It's good to get a different point of view on painting. I've always preferred painting tanks to troops. The amount of weathering on my tanks looks proportionate, whereas my infantry tend to get a bit overwhelmed, despite my best efforts to curb it.

The weathering techniques are so different, and the big flat spaces on vehicles freak me out. No idea how to go about shading and highlighting them, as im so used to painting small models.
Now i think about it, the bigggest things i ever painted were dreadnoughts.

Scouts and dreadnoughts.
Actually like the plastic scouts more than the metal ones. Paint much better.
The dreads are the only thing i ever weathered. It looked quite good, but i had never bothered to do weathering on anything else.

Finally got dissertation work done, so got a bit of work done. Really happy with how they came out. Thats my shotgun vet squads filled out. May even get them painted soon. (Was annoyingly one flamer short though)
Ps. If anyone has hooded shadow warrior heads get in touch. Trying to source them for a project.

Been busy but begining to basecoat. Still waiting on flamer bits for one of the models, but going to keep going.
This was only meant to be some shotguns, but its expanded to three squads. Will be slow progress but once done i will get on with some inquisition.

Beeak from dissertation so painted the faces on some new recruits, made to fill out the shotgun squads. I know some people think that plastic squats are ugly, but frankly if they havent painted up nice thats on you, rather than the model. Def tge best of the rogue trader plastics

Managed very little aside from two highlights. Got 4 chimeras though, and plastic heads for an inquisition force (could only get six sadly, had hoped to find more hooded heads. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, just bought 16 troops in void armour with berets off anvil industries. Will come with 4 heavy phase guns and 12 mg42s (will be 2x6 acolytes with storm bolters and 4 with plasma). Lovely models, cant wait to assemble. 6 more henchman made from empire great swords, hooded elf heads, and skitari bits will go with this as power sword armed acolytes, and redemptionists will be inquisitors.
