The Autarch is a bit of a guess.  I just wanted to get a reasonably effective HQ that didn't cost too much.  I'd like to play a Farseer at some point, but I couldn't find the points for one.  This guy will walk with whatever CC unit doesn't get a transport.  Probably the Banshees, so they can all Fleet.

Fire Dragons are there for the usual reasons...  They pair great with a Falcon, they crap on tanks.

The Scorpions and Banshees should probably be Harlequins, but I like the new Scorp and Banshee models, and they come in boxes of 6.  I also wanted units of 6 so I can trade off units in the Falcons easily.

The Rangers are the core of the army.  It's both fluffy and a bit cheesy to have that many Rangers sitting in cover, sniping at people.  I think 20 of them forms a sufficient amount of fire to whittle down exposed infantry.

War Walkers are a good cheap way to field Bright Lances (if Bright Lances can ever be called cheap).  Move and shoot, good range, I hope to put them behind some rear area cover, and work angles on vehicles.

Falcons...  Obvious why they're here.  I took the Scatter Laser because that's what the kit I got came with (do newer kits have all weapons?), but it's also a good choice.  Not too expensive, good range, good volume of S6 shooting.  AP sucks, but whatever.  I'm not sold on the merits of Vectored Engines, but I had 20 points ot spare, and gave one Vectored Engines.

I'd probably add some Dire Avengers in Wave Serpent to fill it out to 1750 or 1850.

Why don't you give the Scorps infiltration and then you can put the other two 6 man units in the falcons ? That way no unit has to slog it across the board and be shot to pieces. As to the autarch, imo a Doomseer on a bike (105pts ?) would be much more useful as Banshees + Doom = carnage.

You could get the pts for that by dropping the shuricans, the loss should be worth it.
