so my brother-in-law traded me his xbox for some graphic novels and now i need suggestions on games.  i'm mainly a casual or social gamer, so anything that is fun and not too difficult is what i'm looking for.  he gave me Halo and Halo 2, and since i'd only played Halo a few times in multiplayer mode i'm going to try and work my way thru it and see what all the hype is about.

prior to this my most recent console was a N64, so i've really been out of the loop gaming-wise.  i'm already planning on modding the xbox to use as a streaming video player and run emulators, so those will probably be it's main uses, but i'm interested to see what was good in the 'previous' generation of games.  thanks in advance.

I've always got to throw in Psychonauts and Burnout3 (& Revenge) as a couple of my Xbox favorites.

You should also search this forum, there were previous threads asking the same exact thing with some good suggestions there.

Ahtman got many of my fav's, I'd also throw in Jade Empire & Gun.

There are also a few of un-sung turn based games that are good fun:

Dai Sakura (Sp?)
Shattered Union
Gladius
Wrath Unleased (If you ever played an old school game called "Archon" you know that this is)

Dai Senryaku VII: Modern Military Tactics - if you can find it. I know that there weren't a lot pressed, but I think it's still easy to find at the moment.

Gladius was a fairly cool and interactive turn based strategy game.

Psychonauts is great and so is Burnout 3.

Those new Burger King games are fun, for $4 games.

If you got the money and like sims or wacky peripherals, seek out Steel Batallion. You have to get the controller to make it work, avoid the Line Of Contact expansion, it was the online MP follow up.

Mercenaries was a fun game to.

Last, Ninja Gaiden Black. One beautiful, but hard game.

Best part? All these should be $20 or less except Steel Batallion.

That's the one!! Thanks, my lame attempt at spelling failed badly. It's a great game for wargamer fans.

Sneak King - You play as the King and have to sneak around town like Snake and suprise people with Sandwiches.

Pocketbike Racers - A Mario Kart'esque racer thats actually not to bad, especially for $4.

Bumper King - Haven't played it yet, but I hear it's a great party game. It's bumper cars, but I believe one of the games is like air hockey where you have to get a big puck into a goal.

All but Sneak King can be played on Live and come with a month of Live. They are all Xbox and Xbox360 compatible.

What's really scary about the BK games (other than the king himself, who just creeps me out) is that they are getting decent reviews.

I just finished Resident Evil 4 on PS2 (it came out on XBox first though) and it was completely awesome. I would highly recommend it if you like horror action. It won awards if I'm not mistaken.

Came out on Gamecube first, and never for X-Box. Everything else is true. I didn't care for RE 1-3 but 4 was a breath of fresh air and totally reinvigorated the franchise with a new look and more importantly, new controls.

You can't beat Soul Caliber 2 as a fighting game either.  I got it a while back, and it was $20 then.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Sorry, I really thought it was x-box.  I guess that doesn't help much.

Soul Calibur 2 is a lot of fun too.

Soul Caliber 2 is good. I didn't think about it becuase I didn't get it. I had Soul Calibur for tthe DC and I just didn't find it different enough to justify $50 for basically the same game. If you have a Gamecube get that version though, Link made for an awesome Soul Caliber character.

Morrowind game of the year edition was an awesome game, though the learning curve for all the tricks can be steep, also Deus Ex:Invisible war was pretty fun.

Anyone mentioned Fable? It's not everyones cup of tea so to speak, and it was hilariously over-hyped, but it's a fun little game for what it's worth ^^
