Anyone ever do the all wraith army? I think it would be fluffy, but would it be fun? Would it be winnable.

I've seen it played (Iyanden). The only living models were ther Farseers and Warlocks. Not sure how 4th edition Eldar will work nowadays.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

I've certainly considered it. I can't imagine that it would do that well. To begin, a 10-strong WG unit with a Spiritseer (Conceal) and a Farseer for Fortune runs around 500 pts. That's just an insane margin. And you need to take 10-strong squads in order to have them count as troops and maintain the all wraith (+ seers) feel. It might work with Eldrad to push the squads forward on turn 1. But then you still need to keep Seers nearby your Wraithlords.
I can't imagine that it could work. But it might be fun. And I have so many Wraithguard...

I've seen it done. 1850pt game, 26 Wraithguard, 2 Wraithlords, 2 Farseers and 2 Warlocks.
It worked very well. Even watched a Guard squad devestate a Space Wolf squad in CC. No powerfists, so couldn't wound to save his life. Only reason he lost was because the SW player accidentally illegally misused his SW Scouts.
Given how worthless they seemed in individual squads with a regular list, I was completely suprised how effective they are when their the only thing on the table.

Well, with the new book, we can throw in 30 Wraithguard, 3 Spirit Seers (Conceal/Spears), Eldrad, and 3 Wraithlords (2 with SC/SL; 1 with BL/ML). That's D3+1 units that get to reposition. Troops and HS (the whole army) are going to find that useful, particularly the WG with their 12" range. Eldrad Fortunes 2 WG units per turn and Guides someone else while praying that the psychic hood doesn't go off too many times. Though I'm not sure what this army really does other than pray that it doesn't see too much rending, particularly a genestealer horde. But if you can keep your WG fortuned, T6 with a rerollable 3+/5++ can go a long way. And what does it do when it meets an assault squad? Pray that the PF whiffs and that they get a few kills. I don't know. But you can get 30 WG, 3 WL, 3 SSs, and Eldrad in a list. EDIT: For an 1850 pt list, that is.

This isnt flavorful in the classical sense of craftworlds, but think about this: Eldrad 2 troops of wraithgaurd 2 wraithgaurd in serpents. 3 wraithlords roughly 2000 points after the usual upgrades. Eldrad is an ace when it comes to redeploying those slow wraithgaurd where you need them... [edit] Geez....Bigchris beat me to it while I was making an army list.

In city fight, I would think that they shine, so you dont have to waste the power of conceal on them, you can use enhance to make them alot better in assault. The increased I would help alot.

I think if you want to maintain the Wraith "feel" but still put a slightly better army on the table you could stick with Guardians as your Troops choices and just take 3 five-man units of Wraithguard in Wave Serpents (along with 3 Wraithlord). You figure Iyanden still has to have some regular joe guardians running around they can press into service when the need arrives. Wraithguard in a Wave Serpent may not be a points effective choice when you compare it to other Eldar units (like Fire Dragons), but they sure would be a lot more effective than 10 man units slogging around on foot trying to get something to come within 12". Besides, the Guardians could form a pretty solid mobile firebase around 3 Wraithlord (especially if you take multiple Heavy Weapons on 'em). 3 Wraithlords alone should be able to counter-charge most enemy units and win if somebody tries to charge the firebase. Meanwhile, the 3 units of Wraithguard isolate enemy units/tanks hop out and do some serious damage (especially backed up by their Wave Serpents). Give their Warlock enhance and they can even hold their own in combat for a bit if they get charged. Certainly not the worst army ever.
