In a recent game against a new Tomb Kings player, his general Khalida charged a unit of Blazing Sun knights by herself.  Over the course of about three turns, she never quite managed to win a combat, due to outnumber, standard, and the War Banner.  So she was taking crumble wounds from combat resolution, and eventually died (again).

Now there is some question as to whether were were doing it correctly.  Our local VC player is sure that when the general dies, other characters in the army take crumble wounds.  Is there some rule that states that the general of an undead army is not subject to combat res crumble, even if they are the only undead model (and hence the only unit available for the crumble to affect) in the fight?  Opinions (and rules references) please.

As far as I can recall, both undead army books cover crumbling from CR very clearly. I recommend re-reading the appropriate section.

All undead, including the characters, are subject to crumbling from CR.  If the character is in an undead unit (the only type he is allowed to join), the unit suffers the crumbling; the character does not have to suffer it independently.  If multiple undead units are in a combat together and they lose, each unit suffers the crumble separately (including any characters who are NOT in units).

When the general dies, units start taking LD tests at the beginning of each of the undead player's turns, and suffering wounds (as if from CR) equal to the amount by which they fail the test.

Agree with Mannahnin with one addition he forgot to mention: The whole army crumble is when the General dies for VC, but the Heirophant (ranking wizard, non-general) for TK.

Good catch, Trent! I don't play against TK often enough.

I'm also pretty sure that characters are immune to crumble from loss of General/Heirophant.
