So, I never knew where the rules for armored companies were till I found it right on the GW site .. And since I don't have a ton of guys and I'm already building a tank-heavy army using the codex rules.. I think I may give this a shot.

So I have some questions..

1 - is it too over the top? I mean, seriously, an army of all tanks.. I know a lot of armies won't be able to take em all out. Will I get beat up if I show up at a tourney with all tanks? I'm not a win at all costs type and actually games where I annihilate the other guy or vise versa just aren't fun. I'd rather get a draw every time and have a fun & challenging game. So basically, this this kinda army way too cheesey for most games?

2 - About unit selection ... I need a command tank, and aces... they can then be paired with 2 troop-choice tanks, and I can pick 2 troop tanks per command/ace tank, up to a max of 6 (which is the max for troop choices)? And do they have to stick together in any way? I saw someone mention a tank platoon before, just wondering. So basically a command tank and 2 aces would get me my 6 troop tanks. I'm kinda thinking I'd never have enough points (and cash) for all that, but still

3 - Are guardsmen worth it in an armored company. Since I have em, I could do an armored fist unit here or there...

4 - What are some good army compositions in general? So far in my guard collection for tanks I just have 2 hellhounds, 1 basilisk and 1 generic russ.. so I'd need to invest in a lot more...

5 - Since I already have the models and was planning it for my regular guard army, would it be worth it to have an inquisitor and assassin buddy floating around? I can give him a tank as well of course..

so any thoughts?

AC's are substantially less powerful in V4 then V3.
*In a tournament ther is no such thing as power issues, adn there will be plenty there to wipe you out.
*In a regular setting I like to tell my opponent before hand (depending on the opponent). If I know they are bringing a tourney level list then its fair game. If its for fun I let them autoswap out lascannon equivs for their heavy weapons at no cost or otherwise retweak if they want. Having said that you can tweak AC to make a non-uber powerful list more akin to just 4 heavies if you just want to represent a tank platoon with support or such.

-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

AC can be either a maxed-out, 10-Leman-Russ nightmare, or something interesting and diverse. Remember, you can take allies -- so maybe a Guard tank platoon supporting two Battle Sisters or Inquisitorial Storm Troopers squad, and one elite, like SoB Celestians.

I'd think about it myself -- but the forgeworld vehicles, while cool, are hellishly expensive. Also, the list is nigh impossible at low to medium points values -- as you noted, its two troop-tankers for each command/ace-tanker, and if you don't load up on basic tanks, you may well be in trouble.

Yeah just looking at the basics of the army it's gonna be 9 Russes, if I do 1 command, 2 aces and 6 troops.. I have 1 so far Definately not a poor man's army, that's for sure.. but if I were to do it I'd prolly go the extra mile and get a FW tank for the command one just to set it apart.. and on top of all that, I'd want some kinda diversity in there so yeah allies would be the way to go. I'm already working an inquisitor & assasin into my normal guard army.. maybe a lord in a land raider, just to get something different on the board

I'm gonna focus on my current army for now, and maybe play with some AC list ideas with some proxies just to see if I like it
