First attempt at a list with the new Eldar codex... looking to play in a RTT down in San Diego in mid-Feb.

1xWraithlord w/ Starcannon – 120

TOTAL - 1989 (would probably give Vyper spirit stones to fill the points if no other changes are made)

SO here are my main concerns:

1) Should I swap out the Avatar for a 3rd Wraithlord?

2) How cost-effective are wraithlords with 2 heavy weapons, should I make room for them?

3) Should I swap out either the squad of banshees or scorpions for a 2nd sqaud of fire dragons to give the army a melta-theme and more anti-tank firepower?

4) How do you think the Warlock/Farseer squad will fare?

If your playing a RTT wouldn't you be better dropping the avatar for an autarch?

It may hep in the escalation games.

If they are using the old RTT missions, all the missions use strategy rating to determine which side you get to pick. Autarchs would help. An Avatar is only going to really make a couple Guardian squads fearless as most of the army is mounted and will end up way ahead of him (I'm supposing). Also, with the 2 Wraithlords, you risk them going dormant for a turn if you don't babysit them with your mini seer council. This would be counterproductive with them dumping out of the WS and giving flamer love to someone. I'd almost recommend a 2nd Farseer with Guide (at least) to hang with the Wraithlords if you are going to keep them.

Vectored engines. The meat of your army is riding in tanks w/o Holofields. It's happened to me on multiple occassions where I wish I bought VE on my Wave Serpents. Your call as they are expensive, but I think they'd be worth it to ensure your payload doesn't get screwed.

Good luck

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Why a full 10-man Dragon squad? It might be worth it if you had an Exarch with crackshot for killing squads, but otherwise a much smaller squad will usually suffice to kill tanks, and then you can mount them in the viciously hard to kill holo-vectored-falcon.

I completely agree on the Avatar thing -- you have a LOT of points invested in speedy, fragile aspect warriors, and anyone who can support them would be a better choice. In addition, his reserve +'s will be essential to get those elites of yours on the board in Escalations.

Why two Wraithlords? Again, they're walking while your expensive stuff is flying -- unless you manage to outmanuver your opponent in a serious way, this cold spell trouble. If you want hth backup for your Guardians, one would do.

The Vyper can make a nice harassment unit, but if you need a few points, don't hesitate to drop it -- anything that dies to massed boltgun fire or the stray Rhino....

At 2000 points you should be able to field your army with both mobile striking elements and a walking firebase if you want to. You?re almost there with this build.

The Seer council is a lot of points for so little psychic goodness. Riding in a tank is a very questionable call with the 40k rulebook FAQ forbidding us to cast psychic powers from inside a vehicle. I don?t think I?d feel comfortable putting my Farseer and Warlocks in any transport less durable than a Falcon with Holofield. If you are going to be flying forward with your psykers, they desperately need Fortune. Spiritstones and a second power is almost mandatory. Doom is fantastic when cast on a unit you?re going to assault with Scorpions or Banshees. If you change your mind and have them hang back with the infantry, you should still give serious consideration to adding Spiritstones and Fortune. Fortune to keep them alive (or make a Wraithlord in cover super-durable while you hide behind said cover), and you might consider swapping Doom for Guide if he?ll be hiding behind the infantry and Wraithlords. If the infantry will advance aggressively, Fortune and Doom is the combo again.

The Avatar is solid (and also scary when Fortuned), but a big part of his value is making nearby units fearless. He can?t keep up with the fast guys, and you?ve only got two squads of groundpounding infantry, so his synergy is suspect. I?d add a squad of Dire Avengers and another squad of Defenders if I was using him. If you plan to stay at the two minimal Troops units, drop the Avatar and get something else fast. Shining Spears are a good option now, and would work well with your units in the Wave Serpents. Or an Autarch on a Jetbike or Swooping Hawk wings to give the aforementioned Strategy Rating and Reserve roll bonuses, and for his own value as an assault and tank-hunting (Fusion Gun) piece.

You do desperately need Vectored Engines on the Serpents. Much better chance of the squad living to get where they?re going, and of not getting Entangled and losing a turn (along with some of the squad) on the way.

Fire Dragons are often a fire-and-forget unit. They will toast almost any vehicle they hit, and most small squads, but they die very easily if the enemy has anything handy to shoot or assault them with. So I would be ill-inclined to invest in two big units. I can see uses for one big squad in a Serpent, but a small unit of 5 or 6 in a Falcon usually serves me just fine.

I think Vypers are pretty overpriced at this point, and they?re one of the first things I cut from my old lists to afford the new cost increases for other units. The weapon mix you have is one of the best options, though.

Wraithlords are not very scary in HtH. In shooting the best way to make them worth the points is to buy the second heavy weapon. EML & BL gives about the most reliable ranged anti-tank shooting we can get in Eldar. Never gets Shaken like a vehicle, and it has BS4. I wouldn?t sink the points into a third WL, but I?d buy the two you have the extra guns.

I dunno...when you're committed to taking two 200-point squads of Aspect Warriors (Scorps and Banshees), each of which needs a 150-point transport to make them survivable and strikable...hrm. This is a list that needs a little trimming, but it can be cut and played with to give what you seem to want, NickTheWise: a powerful shooty base, and transported close combat Aspects to push the attack. The biggest differences are the dropping of the horrendously expensive seer council and the addition of Dire Avengers to the mix.

The Farseer runs with the Banshees, giving them an anti-tank thrown spear if they need it, and, more importantly, dooming their enemies so all those S3 attacks count. The Autarch runs with the Scorps, his melta weapon gives them an anti-tank option, and mandiblaster+powerweapon means you can put the hurt on powerfist weilding non ICs, while your Exarch with a fist goes toe-to-toe with ICs.

The Guardians, one DA squad, and Wraithlords hold down the fort and provide firepower from the base -- they can all move-n-fire, so they're also not entirely static. The DA + Wraithlords should provide just enough combat muscle to keep them from being a pushover for a lone deepstriking assault unit.

The last DA Squad and all those mounted CC aspects find the nearst place they can rampage, pure and simple. The DAs soften up, everyone else charges, and the DAs defend against counterchargers.

The Snakes and their Plane are self explanatory.

Brother Adso, I like the concept, but I have major reservations about a Farseer attaching to a squad in a tank, given the facts that he is no longer permitted to cast while in the vehicle, and that Doom and Fortune (the two good powers for enhancing assault aspects) must be cast at the beginning of the turn, before you would be disembarking to assault.

If I were using this build (and I do use a very similar one), I would have the Farseer stay on foot with the walking elements. If you keep him surrounded by Defenders, Dire Avengers, and Wraithlords, he can safely get close enough to cast Doom on likely assault targets. It also works fantastically well in conjunction with all the Shuriken shots from the Defenders and Dire Avengers if something comes close and attempts to assault your firebase.
