Fate-Controlling Farseer

Fort Campbell

"The Auspex detected the energy emenations from the artifact Sir.  It's in the city, but there is a substantial Eldar force nearby.  We recognized the markings.  It's the bastards from Ulthwe again."

"Thank you Sgt. Harmen.  Gather your men, you're to spearhead the assualt.  Give out the orders to the rest of the strike force.  Inform Nithanel, I'm sure he'll want a chance to avenge his lost arm against the xenos scum."

"Yes Sir!"  Vet. Sgt. Harmen saluted, and left to relay the orders and get his scouts back on the move.  It's been several months since the disaster against the Ulthwe raiders, it was time to avenge their fallen brothers.

Several hours later, the forces where in place.  Several Tactical Squads had set up a perimeter, with Harmens scouts providing support with their sniper rifles.  Just as the armored units began to roll into position, Harmen noticed the flutter of a cloak coming from a nearby ruin.  Without thinking he opens fire and hears the satifying scream of a dying Eldar scout.  As if a damn had broken, the xenos forces began pouring from the ruins, some even scrambling from the sewers like the filth that they were.  Nithanel, jumping from ruin to ruin stopped a moment to concentrate and a wave of force emenated from his body.  It blasted through walls and Eldar bodies, catching the eldar general as he fell from the sky on rainbow hued wings, and crumpling one of the xenos artillery devices.

Tactical Squad Ceta began to ran towards the ruin with the artifact.  A squad of masked foes leapt from no where and cut several battle brothers down, but the aid of a nearby assualt squad was garnered, and more of the foes fell.  So far the battle had been swinging strongly in the favor of the Marines.  Just as it seemed that victory was assured though, more reinforcements arrived, crawling from the sewers a massive horde of sword weiling eldar came forth.  Realizing the sheer numbers could swamp the line, the companies Devastators unleashed a wave of plasma and missiles into the center of the horde.  Corpses went flying, but the distracted fire allowed the Eldars vehichles to get out of the line of fire.  The resulting fire blew an arm from Brother Dreadnought Ascathar.

With the resurgence of the Eldars numbers Master Tractos teleported from the base with his command squad.  They opened fire onto the nearby Falcon tank, but only a single round penetrated, cutting the primary targetting matrix of the vehichle.  It flew away while the gunner made the necessary repairs to resume firing.  Unfortunately the squad had teleported in the midst of to many of the xenos.  The fire concentrated on them, with the resulting charge of Scorpions, disabled the suits off all the Terminators but Tractos.  In a righteous fury, he slaughtered all the xenos that came within his reach.  He was only stopped when a lucky shot from the damage Falcon peirced his armors shield and damaged it beyond use.  The armors failsafe kicked in and he and his squad was instantly teleported from the field.

On the other end of the battlefield, Nithanel fought with the same abandon, slaughtering an entire unit of Fire Dragons single handedly, and unleashing wave after wave of the Emperors might into the xenos.  Untold numbers fell before his fury, as he avenged the company that had fallen in the last encounter.

Eventually the battlefield began to grow silent.  Nithanel searched through the all of the smoke for his fellow brothers.  He saw a familiar figure begin to form in the smoke though.  The silhouette of the man who was responsible for the loss of his arm.  The Farseer stepped off of the smoldering remains of  Ascathar, withdrawing his sword from the innards of the sarcophagus.  Swearing, Nithanel called in an order to the nearby Predator.  It swung around the corner of the building it was behind, and trained all of it's guns on the Farseer.  Nithanel could feel the Eldars panic through the warp, and smiled in victory.  The roar of cannon fire drowned out all other noise, and when the dust had cleared, no trace of the Farseer could be found.

Nithanel gave the order to retreat from the field.  He could feel the presence of a massive wave of Eldar approaching, and the few men still capable of fighting would not be able to hold long enough to properly retrieve the artifact.  All was not lost though.  Not a single living eldar could be found, and that could never be considered a defeat.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A LONG, BLOODY, EPIC game.  One of the best I've played in a long time.  Ended up going through Turn 8 before a draw was called.  I had wiped out everything of his, but because I did not have a scoring unit within the building, a draw had to be declared.  He had 12 scoring units to my 9, and I was drastically outnumbers.  Here where the lists.

Mine:

Chapter Master: Terminator Armor, Power Weapon x2, Frag Grenades, and some other stuff.
Command Squad x4 w/ 2 Assualt Cannons

Epistolary: Jump Pack, Term Honors, Bolt Pistol, Frag Grenades, Iron Halo, Fury of the Ancients, Veil of Time

Venerable Dreadnought w/ Assualt Cannon, Missile Launcher, Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers

Scout x6: Vet Sgt w/ Teleport Homor, 5 Sniper Rifles, 1 Heavy Bolter
Tac Squad x8: Vet Sgt w/ Teleport Homer, Storm Bolter, Plasma Gun, Missile Launcher
Tac Squad x8: Vet Sgt w/ Teleport Homer, Storm Bolter, Plasma Gun, Missile Launcher
Tac Squad x8: Vet Sgt w/ Teleport Homer, Storm Bolter, Plasma Gun, Missile Launcher

Assault Squad x8: Vet Sgt w/ Teleport Homer, Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol x2

Predator Destructor w/ HB Sponsons, Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers
Devestator Squad x8: Missile Launcher x2, Plasma Cannon x2

His:

Autarch w/ Wings, Mandiblasters, Fusion Gun, Power Weapon
Farseer w/ Doom, Spirit Stones (he realized how dumb it was to have with just one power after we started)

Fire Dragons x6
Striking Scorpions x6: Exarch w/ Claw
Harlequins x6: Shadow Seer

Pathfinders x5
Dire Avengers x10: Exarch with Blade Storm and Dual Catapults
Dire Avengers x10: Exarch with Blade Storm and Dual Catapults
Storm Guardians x?(15-20): Warlock with Enhance

Viper w/ Brightlance
Viper w/ Brightlance
Swooping Hawks x8(I think): Exarch w/ Sunrifle

Falcon w/ Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon
Shadow Weaver x3

Very few tactical mistakes where made throughout the game.  He forgot to deploy his Storm Guardians and Farseer so they had to come in reserves.  He took the Sewer Rat strategem, but I was able to deploy to deny him all but one sewer exit the entire game.  So only one reserve unit came in a turn, it really choked his units, but there where constant reinforcements throughout the hole game.  I completely forgot my orbital bombardment strategem.  And that coupled with me getting first turn and just an absolutely devestating round of FOTA could have made a very very bloody first turn for him.

It's a shame that CoD is very specific with it's victory conditions, cause I could have had a win from that game, but I unfortunately just didn't have a scoring unit close enough at the last turn.  Without him having anything left on the table, I had free reign of movement, just not enough time to do it.
