I'm painting the Skull Pass miniatures, and I wanted to know
what looked good in terms of unifying a Dwarfs army.

Option 1: Different clothes/armor, same shields.
Advantages: When I get bored, I can switch colors.
Disadvantages: Running out of ideas of colors I want to paint.

Option 2: Same clothes/armor, different shields.
Advantages: More uniform uniforms.
Disadvantages: I hate painting fiddly things like shields.

Option 3: Same everything.
Advantages: It'll look uniform no matter what
Disadvantages: Painting grind.

Option 4: Pastel wonderland.
Advantages: I'm sure it'll be fun to hand my 3 yr old niece a brush and let
her crazy go nuts.
Disadvantages: I'm sure it'll be fun to clean up after her as well.

I'd give them uniforms. They're Dwarves, they're well equipped and prepared.

So same uniforms, but different clan/family shields?

My thought with the different outfits was that unit blocks would get different
colors to represent their family ties or something.

Painting grind, malfred, painting grind. Just do them in small groups at a time, turn the tv on in the back ground, (or in front of you), and grind away. Painting figures is easy, but painting a cohesive army can be hard for this very reason. Pick a complementary color set + neutral browns/greys & metallics and stick to it.
