Just learned of some new 1/144th WW2 minis and rules.

http://www.world-tank-museum.com/ and http://www.world-tank-campaigns.com/

The minis actually are not new; they have been available in Japan for a few years. I have a few of them. They are ok. A tad smaller and of poorer quality than the Dragon Can-Do mins but not bad.

The Panzertales book looks really nice too. I love that particular style of Japanese illustration and even though I already have several considerably more detailed (and probably dryer) technical books on the equipment it seems to cover, it looks like a good entertaining read. What scale were Dragons in? I thought they were 1/144 too...

Model Power or perhaps some other company, (Johny Action? I can't remember) put out 1/100 prepainted WWII AFVs that were fairly decent. Nowhere near as good as even low quality 15mm (1/100) miniature makers, but good enough to for tabletop play.

Yep, the CanDo stuff is 1/144 scale as well. I don't know if CanDo are 'large' for the scale or if the WTM stuff is 'small' but if you put two of the same vehicles next to each other the WTM stuff is slightly smaller and more delicate. It's annoying because WTM makes vehicles that Dragon does not yet have. Obviously some may not care about the difference but it bugged me enough that I stopped buying WTM minis.

It's been a really long while since I've seen either in the flesh so I can't really say, though I think Dragon might have been a little beefier. Kinda like how Battlefront's vehicles are a little larger and chunkier compared to more accurate sculpts by Quality Casting and even Old Glory, though I think some of the BF stuff assembles & paints up better while still capturing the "essence" of whatever the figure is meant to depict.
