Ok so I have decided and started the assembly of my new army, the IG. I am using a "Hive World" army with catachan models representing my conscripts and cadians as my regular IG models. I already had the idea of indepedant commisars for the conscripts, but I am a little fuzzy on the advisor ruling. If you purchase, thru doctrines, a priest unit and commissar unit, would it be possible to attach each to a conscript unit? I plan on using 2 50 man conscript platoons in my army.

Well, you'll have to check the advisors section for eligible units to attach them to....I'm not sure if they can be attached to Conscripts or not. If they can be attached, You'll have to purchase a minimum of 5 priests. 1- CHQ 2- PHQ- 1 conscript platoon available for each Infantry platoon (?) 2- Conscript platoons (Assuming this is legal) As far as Commissars go, you can go the same route as with the Priests, OR use/ waste a Doctrine on Independent Commissars. I'm not a fan of Conscripts, Priests or Commissars, but whatever floats your boat.

Advisors can not be attached to a Conscript platoon unless it is an Independent Commissar. This is explained in the 'Advisors' rule on page 40 of Codex Imperial Guard.

Yeah, Independent Commissars is the only way to make that viable. Frankly, Iron Discipline and COD might work better, or chem-inhalers.
By the way, I don't envy you painting that many Guardsmen...it's what kept me well away from the Conscripts doctrine.

Ooo I hate painting too, but then again catachans are not too difficult to paint in the first place. Plus one 10 man squad at a time, in different stages isnt too rough
