Subject: To Wii or not to Wii that is the question??

Hey all, especially you Wii owners... I have a dellema (sp?)!! I got a 360 for Christmas, actually I got it way before Christmas, and I love it! Gears of War was the main reason I got the systems and I haven't been disappointed yet... My problem is, I still have some money left over and it's just about enough for a Wii and 1 game for right now, but I am not sure if it is worth it? I keep thinking I should spent the money I have on either more hobby stuff, like another 40k army, or get a few more 360 titles, or maybe a combination of both! I hear mixed reviews about the Wii, one of my brother's co-workers said it wasn't that great, while I hear from other people that it is. Essentially I am lost and need wisdom from you fellow Dakkites! Should I Wii or not?? Let me know Chappy P!

I'd suggest going to your local mall/game store, and trying it. If possible, try it on Wii sports or Rayman: Raving Rabids. Those tend to exemplify the "feel" of the interface.
I have one, and I love it. It's especially good in groups of people, though Zelda is an excellent title. It will not have the pretty graphics of the 360, period. But it will (and does) have games with very different playstyles...as well as a bunch of crap, as with every console ever made.

Pallantide,
Check out the other Wii threads in this forum as I've left some rather long feedback/opinions about the Wii in them.
In short (as Janthkin noted),
If you often have friends over and want something fun to do with them, buy the Wii. It excels in multi-player social wackiness.

Thanks for the replies guys,
@Janthkin: Yeah the problems with most systems, especially the PS3. With 1 game, resistance, seemingly the best of the crop so far (IMO) and little on the horizon at least nothing that goes wow I gotta have that. The 360 does have some crap games too, and I guess I struggle with the Wii, because in Nintendo's history there has been the theme of off the wall interfacing, i.e., The power glove or the DS touch pad. While the DS seems to have fit in and taken off in a way, I still wonder if the Wii will become just another gimmick??
@Yakface: I just went through the several pages of Brotherskeepers post about his experience with the Wii. I have read your opinions which seem to confirm what I have thought about the Wii all along.
I think I am slowly answering my question...I think I might pass on the Wii. Zelda is one of the only titles I am interested in and possibly Rayman, but from what I have heard, Rayman is best with a group of people. Like what Yakface said in the other post, the interface with the Wii-mote might not be all that cool. I grew up with a controller in hand, ever since the Atari 2600 and this just seems weird.
I guess I wonder what the longevity of the system will be, again like Yakface said (I think??) What will happen when the "it" factor wears off??
Any other thoughts??
One last thing...with a bit of tightness in money, I am not sure how long it will be before I would get some more controllers, which both the Wii-mote and nunchuck become more expensive than a 360 controller.
Thanks Chappy P!

You definitely need to have at least two Wii-motes and two Nunchucks to enjoy the Wii. It's nice to have four of each, but two is absolutely essential.

One thing to remember is that with the Wii comes Wii Sports. That game, in it's self, is rather fun. So you will get Sports and whatever other game you decide on.
One thing to remember about launch games, not all systems had HUGE launch titles. PS2 when it came out had some okay games, but nothing to say, "HOLY FREAKING MOTHER OF GOD! I need that system." For me, it was the Tekken Tag and the fact that it was a Playstation.
I have said this and will say it again, the ball is in "N" court.

Hey guys!
Thanks again for the input! I decided not to Wii. With my Wife and rather new (10 months old) little baby, work and being my church's volunteer youth pastor, I don't have enough time as it is for my Tabletop gaming addiction and PS2 and 360!
So today I picked up Final Fantasy 12 for the PS2 and got xbox live gold for my 360 as well as some Microsoft points to down load Contra and some other games on line.
Thanks again for your input again, I really appreciate it,
Chappy P!
PS: I also really want to do my Grey Knight army really, really bad!

Oh, Dear Lord.
You passed on the Wii and bought FF12? And you thought you didn't have enough time before. ;~)
Good luck with all you have your hands in.

You passed on a wii and had a baby???? What's wrong with you, man? I'm thinking I might have to get a PS2 to play the games that I like. Xbox 360 and Nintendo don't tend to develop them, and the PS3 is a monstrous thing that has no killer apps calling me. I thought the PSP would hold me over, but people seem reluctant to develop the software that I like or they develop sucky versions of what I do like. (Lord of the Rings tactics, anyone?)

The PSP is truly a mixxed bag. Haven't had the, ahem, pleasure of playing LotR Tactics. I believe there is a D&D Tactics coming soon. Field commander was pretty good though.
You know the Warhammer CCG was released on the PSP? Warhammer: Battle for Atluma.

I saw the review of Warhammer CCG, and reading such tiny text on my PSP seems like a bad idea. Is it a good game in your opinion?

I read the same review and I'm not up for reading 2 point font myself.

I would suggest getting the Wii if you know which games you want and you have a good, strong handshake. Otherwise you will be disappointed in the game, loose control of the controller, and then loose a TV. And possibly a couple digits of your hand. Just my thoughts...
